    Western culture needs to seriously change its attitude and language around food. Sweets, candies, baked pastries, and such aren't "goodies." They're baddies.

    Thanks for your story, Sandie. That sugar drug is so strong. I hope my story will give you some hope. I started my journey (also at 5’2”) by watching Dr. Jason Fung. It took me 6 months to become fast adapted and stop snacking. I then moved on to Keto along with 16 to 18 hours of fasting every day. The weight loss was there, but slow. As soon as I went on to Carnivore the weight just fell off. I realized that electrolytes were mandatory for me and helped tremendously to avoid the Keto flu, which can pull you back into cheating. If I drink the chocolate ones I feel like I just had dessert. I tell everyone bacon is my candy. I also use recipes like Carnivore pizza, meatballs, homemade beef jerky, etc. when I start getting bored with just beef, butter, bacon, and eggs. Find the influencers like Chris Cooking Nashville. Kelly Hogan, Steak and Butter Gal, Keto and Eat (Pinterest) who post recipes online to help you get some food satisfaction while staying on track. Good luck, and just like Dave said, it’s a one day at a time deal and always planning ahead can make all the difference.

      I followed Sten Ekberg in my journey to be sugar and eventually carb free. Intermittent fasting was my path to carnivore.

    I lost 30 pounds in the first four months coming up on six months now, in a holding pattern but happy, sont expect to ever be my highschool weight again, not even healthy for an older woman, just happy with the fantastic results I have seen, pain gone, blood pressure down etc etc. The body seems to want to hold on to the last twenty pounds. I hear that from a lot of folks.

    First of all, I do believe Sandie will get there. It helps that she acknowledges carb addiction. I think she is too focused on weight loss. She knows Carnivore will take off the weight so why not indulge now. Many of the people who succeed with Carnivore have resolved so many debilitating chronic conditions that they will never go back to their old way of eating. Many of those people, with one slip up, their pains come right back like a whack on the back of the hand to get back on track. We are fueled by sugar or fat. Sugar is dirty unstable fuel that damages your cells. That damage accumulates. Saturated fat is clean stable fuel that does not damage your cells. You can start eating clean now or you can wait until chronic disease motivates a change in behavior. There are many people who wish they learned of low carb high fat sooner. I am guessing that your husband appears to be fit. I have come to believe that people like your husband (myself included) are at greater risk. We think we are getting away with it. We are not. The body which appropriately diverts excess carbs to fat has saved their cells. The body that burns off the carbs is damaging their cells at a greater rate. It will catch up with them. That is the harsh reality. Sandie, I think you are not eating enough fat. Ground turkey and chicken make me think so. Leave the rendered fat with your ground beef but taper it in.
