My 1st trip was Sept , 2001. Fell in love with the country. Said if ever I retire I would want to live here. Fast forward . 26 1/2 yrs at my job and they shut my department down then a month later the entire facility was shuttered for 13 months. I was 58 yrs old when I had finished up 99 wks unemployment while working part time at a Walmart in Illinois. Long story short we sold 2 vehicles, a big beautiful house , all our belongings and moved to the Philippines on the 9th anniversary of that 1st trip. Have not regretted a minute.

For example mt.dew isn't the same there...certain things put in food in America isn't allowed to be put in food in many other countries....makes you think if your brain isn't clogged up from the food ..

I totally agree with you, Randy. I'm a retired US Navy man residing in the US but I haven't been home since 1987. From what I've seen on UA-cam, my old country has changed tremendously for good. I don't recognize it at all and it looks safer & cleaner than some major cities out here, i.e. SF, LA, Chicago or Philadelphia. I didn't see any addicts shooting up with drugs or attacking innocent law abiding people on the streets. The US is becoming a 3rd world poor country with wide open borders. Our condition out here is getting worse by the day. The immigrants have more rights than US citizens, criminals are protected & not the victims. Medicare & SS will run out of money. Inflation is here to stay! The federal gov is over 31T dollars in debt & yet they keep sending money overseas. They're intentionally bankrupting this country!!! I believe we're really in trouble!!! May God Help Us All.

I am a Filipino and yet I feel so bad about these gang violence, mass shootings, looting, and wokeness happening in the US. 😥
See. I have always wanted to immigrate to the US because life in the Philippines can be pretty difficult and corruption is just one of the worst in the World. But now, I don't think it would be a good fit for me.
Yes, the poverty level in the Philippines is 25%. And yes, the majority of Filipinos are gullible and that is why we still have so many corrupt politicians. However, we don't have that kind of violence here. I hope things get better in the US eventually. 🙏

@@1hoosiersdreaminthephilippines I agree. That is why I consider myself lucky as I am able to provide properly for my family here in the PH.
I just thought of immigrating to the US or Canada in the past because I wanted my Children to experience the Western Lifestyle with all the conveniences when they grew up. But with the Asian Hate crime that peaked during the pandemic, the looting, gang violence, massive shootings, and wokeness happening now both in the US and Canada - I don't think it would be a good idea to expose my Children to that kind of environment and culture.
That admiration to immigrate in the US or Canada is all gone. The more I see Expats like you showing your appreciation of living in the Philippines just made me realized that I should appreciate my country more. 🙂

I’m a 69 year old veteran and I’ve been coming to the Philippines off and on for the last 8 years. Finally made the move here permanently a year ago. I love it here because the people are friendly and nonjudgmental. I am a progressive, but I’m definitely no communist or socialist. I left the US because it has started down the road to authoritarianism. States not allowing teachers to talk about race, sex, or even true history. I’m a gay man married to a Filipino gay man 8 years ago back in the states. There are a lot of gays in his family. In fact, every small brgy I drive through has gay and trans people walking around with everyone else…you know, like it’s normal. Been to many small brgy fiestas and many of the entertainers are drag queens, and they are as funny as it gets. Families, kids, clergy are all there laughing and having a good time. It’s simply not an issue here like it has become with many in the US blaming everything on drag queens and teachers instead of actually trying to fix the real problems. I left my guns in Texas with my grandson, and you know what? I feel much safer here in the Philippines. I live with my husband in the house that he had built because he was in the US working 2-3 jobs and sending all his money home for the family. His brother, sister-in-law, adult niece and adult nephew live with us, and I love it! We all respect each other. I feel freer here than I ever did in the US. Living in the province is much different than living in the city. I hike, play tennis, scuba and snorkel, ride my motorcycle all around the island, garden, help out on our pig farm, and I’ve written 2 books in my first year here. To me it’s heaven. My youngest grandson and his girlfriend plan on visiting us next year. My family was excited for me to move here. I will be going back to Texas in August to visit for 3 weeks, but that is all I need. Best of luck to you. I respect your determination to go against the grain and do what most are afraid to do. Let’s enjoy our lives here without the stressors we had back home.

You mention as many do that the Filipino women are some of the best looking in the world.
Today I spent time wondering about their looks.
Since the Spanish were there for so long and their proximity to Asian countries, most people show the definite features of the cross between Spanish and Asians, with some Caucasian mixes.
It's hard to find what the people looked like pre contact.
Many Filipino women mention wanting to have kids with a Caucasian because of how beautiful the kids turn out.
Thanks for a place to stick these comments.

Respect the people around you, this country is a melting pot of ideologies, beliefs, political affiliations, gender equality, conservatism and progressive movement.

I would never completely leave the USA... I hate illegal immigration, but there is a reason those people knowing risk their lives and ALL their money to cross the border.

I wish you and your beautiful family all the best and I think you made a very wise choice moving to a much safer less stressful environment. much love brother. ill be watching, you keep living and loving and spreading kindness.

So it sounds like you're a political refugee! The economics certainly make the Philippines more attractive, but not sure how long that will last with the increasing influx of expats from the more developed world. Looks like you are doing well! All the best

    • @N0noy1989
      @N0noy1989 Рік тому +1

The younger expats go in the major cities. Those places already expensive to begin with, so no problem there. As for older expats, they go find places in rural areas. There's a ton of cheap property in the provinces, I doubt there'll be an upsurge of provincial prices because of expats any time soon.
