I agree JoshuWawa will end up on the 2nd eventually, but my starting lineup would look like this: Slaf - Suzy - Caufield Newhook - Dach - Laine Roy - Dvorak - Gally Anderson - Evans - Armia Matheson - Guhle Hutson - Savard Xhekaj - Barron Monty Primer
TBH I'm convinced the first line is more than just "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I feel the end of last season was them merely *starting* to get heated. Everybody knows of the chemistry between Suzuki and Caufield, but adding Slafkovský to the mix notches the overall output up to the state where you have three guys who despite different skillsets (sneakiness, vision, power) are *all* capable of finding another with a no look laser pass.
Agreed I think they will all put up new career highs, they all keep getting better, and nick and Cole now have the opportunity to play 82 games with the current beast slaf became in the second half of last season
the line will probably be gone by 20 games if we're not winning. Laine is a much better player than anybody on the Habs , nick included, if he gets it together. fans might disagree but Laine is a ppg as winger. Suzuki has yet to hit that being a centre on a very long leash with no expectation to even win and playing a position with a lot more touches.
Agree with you but I almost feel Laine could end-up on the first line with Suzu & Caulf and young boy Slav will play with Dach and Roy, the 3 kids together. But again, you can't put Laine with Caulf. The start of the season will be extremely interesting.
I'm visiting St. John's for the first time right now, and I keep seeing Mary Brown's billboards everywhere! It reminds me of all the times Hockey Junkie referenced it in his videos. For sure, it have many lineup possible and it will change over the year ! I will probably change idea in 2 days, but there is my new idea of Lineup. Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky Laine - Dach - Mario Armia Newhook - Dvorak - JoshuWawa Anderson - Evans - Gallagher Maybe it could looks like crazy to put Mario Armia on the 2nd line, but i like the idea of a line with big body. Armia can go along the board for the puck and it will help Laine to score goals. Maybe that connection between the two big Finnish boys who could give man hugs each other to keep their smile and their mojo ! It also have the potentiel to boost the stats of Armia that is pretty good to trade him on the last year of his contract ! Keep the good work Hockey Junkie !
Roy/Wawa is probably going to start the season in Laval. There is a plan to move potentially 4 players by the trade deadline, if not sooner. There will be 6 players in the currently line up that won't be there in two years. They're going to make a run for the playoffs this year, but they won't sacrifice and it will be the younger players that will get them there at the end of the year. If they don't, they'll know what to fix with that.
I agree with Wawa on the 2nd ...i really want him to have the best opportunity to succeed..i bet if u put him on the 1st he would keep up and have a great ..i believe hes better than people think , i really do ...GHG
I would like to see Mario with Dach and Laine. He was on a pace of 21 goals even with 12-13 min a game, a ugly start of the season and being retrogated to the AHL. It would make a heavy 2nd line and put him in a very good position to perform and increase is value. His puck protection and poise would be a nice addition to a still young center in Dach. Laine and Mario also played two season together in Winnipeg and are countrymen. I would also like to see Wawa with Newhook. See if they could thrive together. Could be a nice duo for Anderson to bounce back also
Definitely Slaf-Suz-Caufield on the first line, I'd be interested to see if Anderson had a good camp and started looking like the 27 goal scorer he used to be and what three big bodies could do on the 2nd line with Laine-Dach-Anderson. 3rd line would be pretty elite in Roy-Dvorak-Newhook and 4th could also be elite with a veteran line with Armia-Evans-Gally. If Anderson didn't have a good camp, swap him for Roy or Newhook and put him on the 4th line to let him earn it. Bring up Armia (wildcard could be good or bad) or Gally who you know what you're gonna get. Pezz is the 13 forward in my opinion. He's reached his ceiling and won't miss much not playing in Laval and being a solid energy player when the team needs it. Defense there are too many variations to even guess! Slaf-Suz-Caufield Laine-Dach-Anderson Roy-Dvorak-Newhook Armia-Evans-Gally
@HockeyJunkie yours look good I like them but my lines look a little different. Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield.... this line is pretty obvious Anderson - Dach - Laine.... Power forward, Setup man, Sniper. I expect Anderson to have a bounce back year especially on this line and crash the net for these two on a big body second line Wawa - Newhook - Armia.... They played well at times down the stretch last season, and if Joel shows up instead of Mario switch in Gally. Dvorak - Evans - Gally.... Good shutdown line Matheson - Guhle Hutson - Savard... Give the young pup a vet and some defensive security Xhekaj - Barron/Mailloux/Struble What do you think?
I would be really glad if someone from O.Beck F.Mesar had strong AHL performance and got called up to the team but that is somewhere during the season... as far as starting roster there is one man who had great hair missing from the line up :D I would much rather see him on the 4th... either way someone will get injured if we like it or not and than the curly machine will be back in the line up :D hutson savard and mailloux xhekai seems insane
First line yup Second line, if Dvorak isn't traded, then I see that LW spot as Newhook's. If Dvorak is traded before the season starts then Newhook is centering the 3rd line. Wouldn't surprise me to see Armia on the 2nd line with Dach and Laine. Be one big beefy line. Last hurrah for Armia, and gets to play with a fellow Fin. On D...if they keep Hutson with the Habs, I think he slots in on the second paring with Savard where Papa Chewbacca can keep an eye on him. Depending on whether the Habs go with 7 or 8 D will depend on whether Mailloux starts on MTL or Laval. 7D, he is starting in Laval
Not only will Hutson make the team but he’ll be paired on the 2nd line with Savard. Also putting Laine on the 1st and dropping Cole to the 2nd may allow Cole to hit record number of goals as well.
second line players dont produce the same and you're expecting him to break a record? if laine gets it together, cole is going to get less PP minutes which is a big part of his game as he doesnt have to be defensively responsibl
Hey HJ, whaddaya think abt my opening night "dream" lineup? Slaf-Zukes-Cole (no brainer) Laine-Dach-Armia (3 GIANTS, all can skate/pass/shoot) Newhook-JakeTheSnake-Wawa (solid 3rd line) Anderson-Dvo-Galy ("overpaid" 4th line) Matheson-Guhle (no brainer) Hutson-Savard (they looked great for 2 games) Xhekaj-Mailloux (The bash brothers w/skill) Monty Primo CHeers
I know this is unpopular, but i tjink Hutson, Mailloux should NOT start in Montreal. They are still waiver exempt and we STILL have too many dmen. For them to move up, we need more trades or unfortunately injuries.
The big question this year is: will they stay healthy? I agree with you that Joshua Roy is the better play maker and the best candidate to feed Laine. I think that putting Newhook on the third trio is a good idea. We need a good third trio if we want to compete. When Demidov is going to join the team, the probabilities are that Both Newhook and Roy will be on the third trio. This puts Gallagher Armia and Anderson competing for a spot on the fourth trio. Can you imagine? These three guys were once top six contenders. Something has got to happen at one point because you have Owen Beck coming along, you have Alex Barre Boulet who is a talented forward who can play on the pp, this is without mentioning all the coming of age prospects that are pushing at the gates.. Gallagher Armia Anderson and Dvorak have better start fighting for their spots and it better start to show because they will lose their chairs. If I was Anderson, I'd be doing heavy thinking and training because right at the start of training camp he is going to show that he wants his place on the team.
I put Anderson and gally 4th I put Newhook on 2nd line I put armia and wawa third. Matheson - ghule Wifi - Savard Struble - Barron/Mailoux Hutson/Reinbacker top 2 minors all season
Hutson-reinbacher, watch it happen. Reinbacher said he’s trying to make opening night roster and I love to see it. Also Hutson should be the 2nd defense line
Finally, someone who understands that Roy is way better offensively than newhook and could complete a line with dach and laine spot on and if we need some movement, put laine on first and switch with caufield.
Laine - Dach - Roy makes a lot of sense Dach - Roy playmaking with Laine finishing. Roy is a capable 2 way player and can finish. I agree Newhook / Roy interchange at top 6 wing I feel like samecould be said for Armia/Gally/Andy in bottom 6 Newhook - DVO - Gally would be a great checking/scoring third line hopefully Beck / Evans as the centre before season ends Armia - Evans/Beck - Andy Is an insane 4th live to have Florian / Beck / Tuch as call ups Sorry Pezzetta your ass better calice up, you’ll be riding pine in the NHL or the bus in the AHL Where I don’t agree is D pairings Matheson - Ghule until Matheson is moved Hutson - Savard Hutson - Reinbacher Wifi - Barron / Reinbacher / Mailloux I can’t wait for Ghule - Mailloux Hutson - Reinbacher Wifi - Bogdan
I want Hutson playing top 4 minutes with Savard. I also don't want Xhekaj to start the season with top 4 minutes. So Hutson-Savard makes more sense to me
I like everything but i think hutson has to play with savard, i think that is the best move for his development at least at first. Put him with a big responsible vet so he can make his mistakes with a solid partner to back him up so he can learn from them but not necessarily have it cost them too much hopefully. After seeing his games last year though i dont see it taking too long to get comfortable to move him with almost anybody.
Not sold on Montambault. If Primeau performs better, I don't think it should be a given that Monty gets the job. I see way too many flaws in his game, adjustments that he just hasn't been able to make and if you have a team that has good shooters, they will pick him apart all year. With Cayden, you have a player that has new found confidence, and someone that made some adjustments and just better reads as the year progressed. I also think that there will be a surprise in camp with Dobes really pushing the other two. I think there are a couple of twists and turns with those 3 over the next year. There isn't too many $3.15m number 1 goaltenders in the NHL right now. That says something right there.
Hutson needs to be with a responsible veteran d-man and his name is David Savard. I hope 3rd pair will be Xhekaj - Mailloux. Matheson - Guhle Hutson - Savard Xhekaj - Mailloux Struble - Barron ( Back-ups )
I like it but I would maybe switch the defensive lines up a bit, put savard with hutson, i feel like savard is a defensive defenseman and hutson is an offensive defenseman. I think this pairing might give a bit more insurance if the rookie loses the puck and doesn't get back in time... savard would be there to slow down/keep the opponents at bay until the Calvary makes it back. idk that's what I would do.
I'd probably swap Laine and Caufield. Cole's production last year was less than expected and you can't have your highest paid player not on the first line, doesn't make sense. Laine fits Cole's role, but does it better, so there'll be no line balancing issues. I'd also probably have Newhook on the 2nd line but I'd be happy to see Roy prove me wrong. And you probably have to have a solid D-man like Savard playing with Hutson if he does make the team, or maybe Struble fills that role instead idk, it's tough back there. PS. Here's hoping Anderson plays better and we can move him up to the 3rd line. Him and Gally are a bit of an eyesore being considered for 4th line with their contracts but what can ya do.
Just wanted to add that Newhook and JoshuWawa can easily switch places here in my lineup. But I'd like to see Wawa get a legit top 6 opportunity with skilled players just to see what he can do.. Kids got some skills.

Could be a nice duo for Anderson to bounce back also
Slaf - Suzy - CC
Wawa - Doc - Laine
Mario - Newhook - Anderson
Pezzatta - Dvorak ( Evans ) - Gallagher
Matheson - Gulhe
Hutson - Savard
Xhakej - Mailloux
Barron
Monty
Champing at the bit. Horses champ.
I’d love to hear how you’d mix it up on special teams.
Right on my trout. My choices as well
Definitely Slaf-Suz-Caufield on the first line, I'd be interested to see if Anderson had a good camp and started looking like the 27 goal scorer he used to be and what three big bodies could do on the 2nd line with Laine-Dach-Anderson.
Slaf-Suz-Caufield
Laine-Dach-Anderson
Roy-Dvorak-Newhook
Armia-Evans-Gally
@HockeyJunkie yours look good I like them but my lines look a little different.
Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield.... this line is pretty obvious
Anderson - Dach - Laine.... Power forward, Setup man, Sniper. I expect Anderson to have a bounce back year especially on this line and crash the net for these two on a big body second line
Wawa - Newhook - Armia.... They played well at times down the stretch last season, and if Joel shows up instead of Mario switch in Gally.
Dvorak - Evans - Gally.... Good shutdown line
Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Savard... Give the young pup a vet and some defensive security
Xhekaj - Barron/Mailloux/Struble
What do you think?
3:34 wrong! Armia actually turns 12 in May
What’s the PP lineup ?? Hockey junket (typo but I like it so I am keeping it ) please share your prediction 🙏
I'm excited to see what Laine can teach Caufield and Slav...seeing as Slav and Laine are similar in size
I would be really glad if someone from O.Beck F.Mesar had strong AHL performance and got called up to the team but that is somewhere during the season...
as far as starting roster there is one man who had great hair missing from the line up :D I would much rather see him on the 4th... either way someone will get injured if we like it or not and than the curly machine will be back in the line up :D
hutson savard and mailloux xhekai seems insane
Imagine a lane Laine Dach Anderson where anderson is playing at his best. Insane second line IMO
2nd line is dangereuse
I just love hughes performance like holy f ing shit he's killing it now it's a on ice isue because he did more than I expected
First line yup
Second line, if Dvorak isn't traded, then I see that LW spot as Newhook's.
Slaf-Zukes-Cole (no brainer)
Laine-Dach-Armia (3 GIANTS, all can skate/pass/shoot)
Newhook-JakeTheSnake-Wawa (solid 3rd line)
Anderson-Dvo-Galy ("overpaid" 4th line)
Matheson-Guhle (no brainer)
Hutson-Savard (they looked great for 2 games)
Xhekaj-Mailloux (The bash brothers w/skill)
Monty
Primo
CHeers
Junkie keep making the content loving it recently.
I'm thinking:
Gole -Nick-Slaf
Mario-Dach-Laine
Newy-Dvo-WahWah
Anderson-Evans-Gally
+Pezzetta, Beck
Hutson- Matheson
Savard- Mailloux
Ghule - Xhekaj
+Barron, Struble
I know this is unpopular, but i tjink Hutson, Mailloux should NOT start in Montreal.
They are still waiver exempt and we STILL have too many dmen.
For them to move up, we need more trades or unfortunately injuries.
Great vodeo junkie . Ill give you my new lines on my channel. I had already done it ,but now with Laine in Harris out ,i have to do a rrdo . Lol
Hutson with Savard on the second pair. Wifi and someone on the third. Laine on the second line most likely.
I like it!
I put Anderson and gally 4th
I put Newhook on 2nd line
I put armia and wawa third.
Matheson - ghule
Wifi - Savard
Struble - Barron/Mailoux
Hutson/Reinbacker top 2 minors all season
Hutson-reinbacher, watch it happen. Reinbacher said he’s trying to make opening night roster and I love to see it. Also Hutson should be the 2nd defense line
Finally, someone who understands that Roy is way better offensively than newhook and could complete a line with dach and laine spot on and if we need some movement, put laine on first and switch with caufield.
Laine - Dach - Roy makes a lot of sense Dach - Roy playmaking with Laine finishing. Roy is a capable 2 way player and can finish.
I agree Newhook / Roy interchange at top 6 wing
I feel like samecould be said for Armia/Gally/Andy in bottom 6
Newhook - DVO - Gally would be a great checking/scoring third line hopefully Beck / Evans as the centre before season ends
Armia - Evans/Beck - Andy
Is an insane 4th live to have
Florian / Beck / Tuch as call ups
Sorry Pezzetta your ass better calice up, you’ll be riding pine in the NHL or the bus in the AHL
Where I don’t agree is D pairings
Matheson - Ghule until Matheson is moved
Hutson - Savard
Hutson - Reinbacher
Wifi - Barron / Reinbacher / Mailloux
I can’t wait for
Ghule - Mailloux
Hutson - Reinbacher
Wifi - Bogdan
Totally agree... might break up Guhle and Mathy, but whatever! Let's a fews wins begin!
Mariooo
What about the power play lines?
Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Savard
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Struble - Barron ( Back-ups )
Slaf and Cole played on opposite wings while on the same line all season last year
