It draws on his stifling - often violent - relationship with Verlaine, and
his discovery that poetry was not enough. He was the great poet of
the age, and he didn't have a pot to p*ss in. He wanted more.

This is an extremely good translation. Unlike most other translations, it conveys the young and irreverent spirit of Rimbaud perfectly. However, it is very incomplete. Bad Blood, for example, is half as long as the original one. The original Season in Hell text would take about an hour to read out loud.
I believe this was abridged for a radio broadcast.

The homosexual bits have been taken out. Kind of awful they did that. But everything else was incredible.

Nonetheless this abridged version is 100x better than any full length version I’ve ever heard. It really comes to life here.

That work of that quality was written by someone before the age of twenty is utterly gobsmacking, many of my favourite writers sang his praises in one form or another over the decades - William Burroughs, Samuel Beckett, HP Lovecraft called him a 'titan', Iain Sinclair, Jean Cocteau, the list goes on winding its way through most of the interesting writers in the world.
Jim Morrison as well relished Rimbaud's work's
Even Martin Amis said 'He drew from the same well as myself...' 😂
interesting to consider as well that Mary Shelley was only 19 when she wrote Frankenstein.

The omission of the gay part is unfortunate and really insulting. It was also one of the most human elements of this whole poem. Other than that this was a generous and incredible piece to hear.

This is the greatest poetry reading I have ever heard. Utterly kino.
Beautifully rendered. Audio tricks perfectly integrated, not distracting. It's like a Shakespeare monologue when it's read by an actor.

This was great! I listened to it while running in Central Park this afternoon escaping Corona quarantine for an hour. It was the perfect soundtrack coupled with all the springtime blossoms in full array (April 2020).

Arthur Rimbaud is one of the best poets there ever was, better than Shakespeare. He is up there with Pablo Neruda and T.S. Eliot. The best of the best.
I think Rimbaud was a true visionary and seer. The bit where he writes about seeing carriages in the sky and "white nations" on the beaches. It sounds like he saw the invention of air travel. Like the kid was having hallucinatory visions and seeing into the future. He was certainly doing a lot of drugs: Hashish, Opium.
Sorry but I don't buy that this was written by someone before the age of twenty. Maybe Rimbaud lied about his age...
I like reading this from time to time and enjoy his view on society.
