High Speed Amtrak Race at Westmont, IL during triple meet + BNSF Aurora Sub Rail Action

Rail traffic was busy on BNSF's Aurora Sub during our visit in the Spring of 2004. We chased an eastbound BNSF freight with a former AT&SF 8-40CW leader from Waterman, IL to Westmont along the BNSF racetrack. At Westmont we caught another freight with BNSF & Wisconsin Central power followed by a Metra commuter train. Shortly after the first BNSF freight seen in this movie arrived, we caught a three way meet with two Amtrak trains sprinting west out of Chicago. These trains are likely the Illinois Zephyr & Southwest Chief with express mail box cars and roadrailers.

this is where we find out the engineers on those amtrak trains are super close and dont want to be too far away from each other. those trains are going the same speed and directly next to each other
