Being a new gun owner at 65.....i have no bias.. My first gun was a TX22... I bought it on January 22/2020, I LOVE IT, now, I only have 100rds through it but no issues so far. I too a "new shooter" class at a indoor range and I'll definitely be going back soon. Oh. The very next wee I bought a Sig p320xf I still haven't shot that but I will soon.

My 2 TX22's have leaded barrels after less than 500 rounds of CCI, Remington. i have a 3rd which I will be shooting. Called Taurus and they are aware of the fouling issue and will send me 2 new barrels once available. I know the new one I have the 3rd one will do the same since it is the old barrel. I suspect that there was insufficient heat treat as this is the only 22 that has ever fouled the barrel. Check your's carefully and if leaded up call Taurus. I really like mine and they shoot well too. Stinger's are prety impressive for 32 grains.

first range outing first 50 or so shots when pretty smooth ,then started having feeding, chambering ,
( using 5 different kinds of ammo ,mostly 40gn. round nose )
extraction problems. substituted the extra magazine i bought and things smoothed out .
called taurus customer service and they said they were out of magazines but would put me
on a list . second range trip i noticed accuracy was gettng bad after several hundred rounds . close inspection reveled barrel was leaded up so bad you could not see the
rifling and the muzzle had little lead icicles starting to form on it . called up taurus ,they have no barrels and put me on a list. cleaned barrel out real good , third
range trip . functioned fairly well with replacement magazine . loaded up one of the faulty mags that came with the gun and had a out of battery explosion that
blew the mag out on the ground ,burned my trigger finger ,and got some powder particles in the face ( always wear eye protection folks ) case blew out right at the rim
when the slide failed to completely close . called up taurus and sent the gun . been sitting around down there for close to 6 weeks now what gets me is that they have
probably shipped and sold thousands of these while we with bad ones wait to get what we paid for . good luck to everyone waiting and waiting --------------

I love mine, too. I shoot it more than any of my other guns. Perfect pistol to train with. It has the exact same trigger pull, and quick reset that my Canik TP9 SFx has. So, it's ideal for doing drills, and action shooting, without getting used to a different trigger than my competition gun. I've even got a low-ride holster for it, just like my Canik has.

I figured the 22 LR hp would go thru the windshield, but I was surprised when it went into the jugs. The shot shells kinda did as I expected. I shot a piece of fiberglass underpinning, many many years ago when I was a kid, with a 22 shotshell to see what it would do, and I think every pellet came back and hit me in the knee. Felt like a buncha hornets stung me lol, those shotshells can be dangerous when shot up close.

That's what good dad's do. The one slight advantage for the M&P is that it's available in the compact version, which puts it about a 1/4 inch shorter than the TX22.

Last year when she was 7 she used to take the frames while I cleaned the slide and all it’s guts, and she would clean out the magwell and just the reinsert the mags and drop them over, and over. (she is autistic, so the repetitive actions entertain her well). So she’s watched me field strip, and then give all the internals a good deep clean. She also sits with me and watches firearm videos, like your own, and as soon as she hears gunfire from my tablet, it’s gun video time LOL

My shooting buddy had to send in his Rossi lever action and they replaced the gun with one of his choice but it did take them several months for turn around. That was probably 5 years ago. Are they not honoring their rebate? I sent mine in a couple of weeks ago for this firearm (50 bucks) and haven't heard anything back BUT it did say 6-8 weeks so I wasn't expecting anything just yet. I was surprised that the .22 #12 stayed as tight as it did. I haven't shot one in 40 years at least.
I wonder what a shot shell in .44 Mag with #9 shot would do to the windshield? I've always thought that the rifling would cause spiraling like a spiral galaxy rather than a shotgun like pattern. I've loaded them but never pattern tested them. I tried a 165 gr .44 on a wad on 150 gr of #9 shot on a wad over powder. Not good past 50 yards but interesting, accuracy at 25 yards is basket ball groups. I played with.410 plastic wads for kicks as well.

25 yard basketball sized groups would be a useful load!

Loved that little test. I know for a fact that there would be no chance of that windshield lasting beyond the first day at my range. By the calendar I may be all "growed up", but when it comes to wrecking stuff (especially with firearms) I'm worse than a little kid. Of course when I was all done destroying it I'd be cursing myself out for making such a big mess for me to clean up. *:-)*
Well take it easy man. Thanks for the video. :)

Cool video. I love anything related to the TX-22. I've got a Canik TP9 SFx to run drills, and courses with. But, the TX-22 is my dedicated practice pistol. Best training .22 pistol made, in my opinion. I always miss slightly "left" on my misses, with a handgun. I find that if I apply more pressure with my support hand(left hand), and use more trigger finger, that I can usually remedy it, but I would love to hear your opinion on why I sometimes miss left. Thanks, bro.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  5 років тому +2

Well, you are already implementing the things I would have suggested (more trigger finger). I have found that I shoot some pistols to the left myself. My Glock 34 is a prime example. When I miss with that gun it's almost always to the left even after bumping my rear sight to the right a little.
