This song was supposed to be written by a Mongolian warrior to his women back home. As a Marine vet, I understand that very well during combat god turns into a female for us because all we want is to be comforted. That is what we fight so hard for to come home to our mothers, wives, daughters, sisters. We studied Mongolian warfare, to this day they are the one enemy I would not want to face. Great reaction, you should also watch Bloodywood, Dana Dan. They are from India and that song also honors women.

I too am a Veteran of the British Army. (heavy armour). My father who was in the Polish army during the war. Told me of the legend of the Bugler, who sounded at dawn and dusk. And in the time of conflict would sound as a warning. he would be posted to the Church Tower of St Mary's Church as lookout. In 1241 the Mongols attacked and as the Bugler sounded the warning he was shot and killed by an arrow to the throat, to this day there is a bugle sound from the church tower and stops to mark this historical moment.

The song is even more beautiful when one looks at Genghis Khan’s relationship with his mother and his wife. His mother, Hö'elün, was widowed when her son was eight and taught him and his siblings how to survive. And when his wife, Börte, was captured he and his allies invaded the tribe that had taken her with twenty thousand warriors. And when she gave birth not long after, he claimed the child as his own, to maintain not only his own reputation but hers as well. On top of this, both acted as behind the scenes administrators in the Khan’s court. Managing resources and giving political advice.
The Mongolian lyrics are based on a love letter that a mongol warrior sent to his wife/girlfriend/lover/mother and then The Hu asked Lzzy to write some english lyrics after telling her the story behind the mongolian words

There's 2 versions of this song. One with just The Hu, then they invited Lzzy to join them, and to write her own lyrics in English to go along with their already existing song.
'Wolf Totem' has been most people's introduction to the band. I also recommend 'Yuve Yuve Yu', as the video shows a bit of normal everyday life in Mongolia. And then there's The Hu's cover of Metallica's 'Sad But True', which also has a bit of an environmental message, as it shows people digging up gold until their world is ruined.

I love the overtone "whistling" style of throat singing you can hear at the very end, just before the last fiddle riff. I think it's Galaa singing that.
Another HU collaboration is Mother Nature ft LP. Astonishingly beautiful in its sound and imagery!

Hello Madam. I am very pleasure for your reaction. I wanna say to you, welcome to my eternal blue sky Mongolia. Now is autumn in Mongolia. It has started turning cold. The Mongolian writer is amazing as well but it is so cold. Mongolia is the coldest country in the world. It would be great if you could visit Mongolia during the Naadam festival. It will be celebrated in the summer time, in July of every year. Naadam is a national holiday that has been celebrated for thousands and thousands of years. You can see the opening ceremony of Naadam. It is a very big show of traditional dancing, singing, heritages and horse guys, ladies and kids. As well national clothes festival. You will never be disappointed. I promise. It is called "Man's three game" festival, wrestling, archery, and horse racing. Racehorse riders are the children aged from 7 to 13. Finally, I would like to recommend you to react Hu's song "Mother Nature" featured with LP singer. This is an amazing song.
You might want to check out Wolf Totem collab with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach and Song of Women with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. Those are my favorites but they have done many collabs. I believe their videos are located somewhere in the area of the Gobi Desert.

Great reaction Maddy! I got to visit Inner Mongolia (part of China) as my GF was I. Mongolian while I was living in China for several years. On a day trip to The Mongolian-Manchurian grassland, we rode horses and had lunch in a large yurt as well, simply unforgettable! Also, we attended a throat singing concert in Beijing complete with traditional 2 string instruments which was awesome! Cheers!
