Great to see the village of Tosh with it’s typical Himalayan architecture and simple life. After the last grande hike you definitely need to enjoy a rest. ❤
Hi Gabe: Nice video of village life in Tosh. In the beginning, you were literally in the horns of a dilemma, whether to go up to the cows or down to the bull!
Even though you couldn't make it to the Pink Floyd cafe, you're still it top shape with all the walking/climbing you've been doing...pretty hilarious when you were trapped between the bull and cows LOL
You know, there is the one thing about being in the Himalayas - especially in Parvati Valley - it is either climbing up or down. The good thing is, that if you willing to leave your comfort zone you get nice rewards like on the ridge the other day 👍😉
Its interesting how we are drawn to some places and not others. I would love it there if it was not so cold lol Thanks for taking the time to show the village and that hike must have been tough on the legs. Its a beautiful country and thanks for sharing it with us again.
There are so many beautiful places in our own country that are unknown to us…this small village in the Himachal is one of them, most of the tourists visit Malana, But I think this place is ideal for experiencing the Himalayas, and if one follows the 'Gabriel's Trail' to the top then the view there is heavenly!
Trapped by cows. 😅. That was awesome. Beautiful day. Sky is gorgeous with mountains. And I love the intro music in all your videos !! Anymore hairy 🕷??? Be safe luv these videos ♥️♥️
Yes, there was another spider in my bathroom the same day I got back from the hike in which I told the story about the spider. The second one met the same fate as the first. It was a less decisive battle though, due to its hiding behind the water heater. Eventually I was victorious, but it was a little messier.
Gabe, even Pink Floyd are getting older, and tired, seen them 8 times. Great filming, you have inspired us to have a curry this evening, whilst we watch your adventures.
Fantastic views with a well informed presentation. If you're interested in some epic treks, there is a 2-day 8km trek from Malana village called Devroopa, it rises up to 4200m and has unreal views of snowy peaks all around, might even have snow there itself this time. Starts near Malana dam, would require some preparation.
I am impressed by the relatively large number of guest houses and cafe's. Are there really enough tourists to fill all those rooms and cafe's? You pointed out a few more under construction...might there be concern for overdevelopment, both in terms of less paying tourists per hotel/cafe and the environmental impact?
I'm a resident of Himachal Pradesh and there is a growing concern with overdevelopment. Not in terms of less paying tourists though, because as India develops and more and more Indians enter the middle class with disposable incomes, there's an unending demand for tourism spots. The popular spots during peak season are 100% full with people sleeping in their cars sometimes. The real concern is environmental which became evident this monsoon season with a lot of landslides and flooding and many people dying. Unchecked, badly-designed construction was responsbile for most of the destruction of life and property. The other big cause for landslides was the development of 4 lane highways to accomodate the ever growing number of tourists. And another concern was too many hydro electric power plants who all had to release their reservoirs because of excessive rain and that caused a lot of destruction downstream. So more people are talking about overdevelopment and that we shouldn't follow the model of our neighboring hill state of Uttrakhand where overdevelopment and over tourism caused to a lot of loss of life a few years back. But sadly, everyone ends up wanting to earn money and cash in on the tourism boom. We humans fail to consider what will happen if everyone did what we want to do.
@@adeadgirl13 Its the people who were complaining always that government isn't developing the roads in Himalayas, and when the government finally did they complain about environmental problems.
@@gogadev I never heard of any Himachali complaining of roads not being developed properly. Everyone I know has been complaining about the four lane projects from the beginning.
Without the music and the food the mystic feel of the Himalayas would be incomplete all the other elements are secondary except the lovely animals , they are absolute novelty
I can understand the meaning of Indian place names from Sanskrit because they are very close to the Indo-European languages of Europe. For example, 'Himalaya' can be broken down into 'hima' (winter, zima) and 'laya' (to lay, lezec), while 'Himachal' consists of 'hima' (winter, zima) and 'chal' (mountain, kalns), thus meaning is winter mountain.

Hi Gabriel, it's a beautiful area Tosh may be a better choice to stay much closer to the center of town with more choices to eat and enjoy. A fast-growing incredible location with emissive potential for tourist growth and that would be just adding several different things tourists would enjoy doing. The biggest difference of course will be the road system once they get better roads and overall better infrastructure all around it will increase business in this area.
