You have to be the gold standard of bike mechanics, sir! Love these videos and seeing your expertise in taking apart this engineering, giving it love and putting it back together. I wish you were my mechanic!
Lovely job! As a home mechanic I always aspire to treat my bike with such attention as you've just did in this one. I've just learned a lot by watching a pro doing his thing. All the best Amigo!
Beautiful work. It just shows how even an old bike will shine and perform brilliantly. One thing though. Gatorskins. They are terrible in the wet. Great puncture resistance but awful grip when wet.
I had the same Bianchi Infinito /Veloce/ in the same color back in 2013, now I have the newest generation of Bianchi Infinito DB ICR now. Great job!! Greetings from Slovakia.
Hy guys, Lee and Simon, another beautiful bike and what a great result after the service. Thanks for sharing this video and as always greetings from Germany and I wish you a nice onward week and weekend tomorrow! 👍🌞🍀
I run Chorus 11 speed on 3 of my bikes lovely to use and runs beautifully 😊 ❤ quality is so nice.. love Bianchis this looks amazing.. great rebuild dude. Pete 🚴🏻👍🚴♀️
What a beautiful bike, and after the cleanup, it looks like it just came out of the factory. Excellent service, Lee. Another shout out to Simon for the masterful edit. I look forward to each video you produce and upload for us to enjoy. Thanks again for the weekly entertainment.
One thing I would recommend you is a cassette wrench. It's so much better than the chainwhip, I am never touching a chainwhip again. That bike turned out lovely!
One of the best service videos yet, maybe the work needed not quite as extensive as usual, but worth every minute to be able to see and admire such a beautiful bike!
Got hold of a 10sp 2015 Celeste Bianchi Via Nirone (rim brakes, external cabling) and promptly stripped off the goofy FSA BB/Crankset and Reparto Corse components. 1x11 420% gearing via GRX/Garbaruk, Ultegra brakes & shifters. Love that setup for long, hilly rides.
I had a Bianchi once and used it for a 100 mile TT with a set of clip on tri bars did it in 4hr 20mins it was a Brute of a day and I came 3rd with the winning time being 4hrs 10 really enjoyed that bike 😊
I used to have a Bianchi Nirone and until my latest bike I always had Campagnolo groupsets, I do agree about the quality. I now have Shimano on a Colnago and the purist in me still doesn't quite think it sits right. Loving your work as always.
I have akways added ca glue to tires to reseal the hole caused by shards or small cuts. I used to ride and race in NYC where there is alot of glass in the road. Many others did this as wellas i was not the first. it was the days of high tire pressure. i still seal the holes with ca when i get back from a ride.
Did you check the inside of the tyre for any other potential thorns or flints? Asking because I've assumed foreign objects are the reason for a puncture only to come a cropper when not checking the rest of the tyre. Great video as always. So thorough.
Not in this instance because we knew exactly what had caused the puncture but yes almost all of the time, hard to think straight sometimes with the camera on🧡
Love my 2012 Infinito. So much I installed Ultegra Di2 12speed! (Yes, they make rim brake version) Absolute dream. Only wish it could fit 28s or even 30s
@@ivorpeachey4366 oh it’s definitely Shimano. Quick google search and you will find it. The big difference between the rim version and disc version is that the shifters are still wired and not wireless. Also no junction box like on previous 11 speed Di2. Shifters connect with each other then one wire down to the battery. And then everything else is the same.
@@ivorpeachey4366 ah gotcha. yeah weirdly they did not advertise it and only a few UA-camrs even talked about it. Merlin Cyles selling the groupset for $1,462. Definitely worth the upgrade. Feels like a brand new bike. Cheers
@@ivorpeachey4366 It's totally possible, but only the derailleurs would be from the 105 R7100 lineup. The STI levers need to be the Ultegra ST-R8150 at the very least. For the brakes, even previous-generation rim brakes work just fine.
Good job for a nice bike! At that time they often used a clamp system for the front derailleur. If tight too much, it could damage the carbon vertical tube and deform it with time.. Otherwise, it was common to lose the rubber bands on these brake adjusters after they got old, I usually grease them.
As a child all I remember was there sky blue/mint frames, it was such an odd colour they just looked cool. Everyone had a Bianchi, There not so common now, it's quite rare to see Bianchi carbon bike these days.
I had a very similar Bianachi (2008 model). The Campag groupset drove me mad in the end. Local bikes shops struggled to service it. One even switched a 10 speed chain and cassette for a nine speed. 😢 The bike also dropped the chain when you moved it backwards. It was really odd.
Great channel love your videos, had a quick question. I have noticed that when you wash the bike you wipe it down with a Micro Fibre cloth. I always rinse it down. By wiping it down don't you leave behind the soap on the frame ?
A very informative video. I would like to know if the pulley wheels in the rear derailleur are the same size, top and bottom. I heard from another channel, once a chain is stretched, and is replaced does the rear cassette or freewheel is replaced. What are your thoughts ?
Most rear derailleurs have non-staggered pulley wheels in terms of tooth count, but will vary in teeth profile. They will be marked as a tension (lower) and guide (upper) pulley respectively. A cassette takes a few chain replacements before it needs to be replaced. The general rule of thumb is when the teeth start to look like shark fins.
Very enjoyable video, thank you. I have a question: Why didn't you replace or repair the tire? With that damage I suppose it won't be long until the next puncture
I still keep a campag equipped Colnago Cristallo, the quality of the components is first class. A potentially stupid question, what are the tips on the syringes called? I find them oddly intriguing.
in all honestly easy service, i would change the jockey wheels whilst they are off, maybe retention vbrakes if needed, funnily enough those paint spills actually didnt look to out of place, apart from on the brakes, i might have added some random streaks across the frame in places, for that custom paint look, but yes, a very nice bike that has been protected by to much oil, which makes a change, my first rd was a bianchi, yep the italians certainly know how to build a good race bike
You always do an amazing job with these services. A question though, I get my bike serviced regularly and its always washed and cleaned after a ride, but whenever I need a new chain, my LBS always insist on renewing the rear cassette at the same time. In your opinion, is this something that needs doing each time? Thanks
The Park Tool CC-4 is one option. To my surprise, it's less expensive than their CC-2, but I actually shouldn't be since the CC-4 is made out of one piece of laser-cut metal with no moving parts.
Can I ask what cleaning solution you use in the ultrasonic cleaner - and also, do you put new chains on straight out of the packaging, or do you strip it of the packaging grease and re-lube it properly?
Yes there a few still out there depending on what crank length you need…. But it is the compact ones that are very hard to find compared with conventional 53/39… Probably much easier for the factory to source FSA…..
You kidding? A freaking rear Campagnolo wheel here in Toronto goes for 5,000 (five thousand) dollars. that's without the casette. Everything better work well 😂
Got to disagree about Campag... I bought a DeRosa Idol based on all the hype the Campy fan boys were spouting. It came with the Potenza groupset.... worst - groupset - ever.... both Shifters snapped within 6 months, Chain Reaction Cycles made a mess of the repair so I got a full refund when I actually wanted to keep the bike... could have all been avoided had I stuck with Shimano 😢 Great video as usual... missing the background music? It's really quiet this week 😮😊
