For anyone wondering… this also works on Honda civic hatchbacks as well with Apple CarPlay. You may have some different clips to pop but it’s relatively the same process.
Quick question. Did you replacement the entire unit or just the digitizer screen? Looked like the entire unit but wanted to know if changing just the screen/digitizer will resolve the multi-colored lines and then black screen. Or if I need to change the entire unit?
My display just broke today and this is the best video I've seen on how to replace it. My only question is where is the fuse box located? That video cut kinda quick to see how to get to it.
Fuse box is near the battery. There’s a plastic lid with some clips you can press with your finger to pop the lid off. Most if not all Honda civics have the same fuse box location. You could also search on Google your cars make, model and year and type “fuse box location”. Might have to scroll around a bit to find it tho. Hopefully this helps !
Great video. I recently had to slam on my breaks to avoid a dummy on the road. Long story short, a Thermoflask hit the corner of the screen, and the dealership wanted to replace the entire radio and quoted me at 965.73 for parts and labor. I just took mine out. Matched up the model number with one being sold on ebay ( screen only ) for 175. 200 shipped with a 2 year warranty. You saved me 700 sir. Thank you. ❤
Thank you so much man! My screen broke yesterday, watched this video, ordered a replacement off Amazon and got it today and took me less than 30 mins to install thanks to your video. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this! Went quite a while with the black screen bc I wasn't giving Honda $2300 to fix it. I also went the eBay route ($350), and the swap was as straight-forward as any repair I can recall. Looks and works great! Nice work!
Best video for screen replacement by far. 2017 Honda civic base model screen broke and put it on the back burner for a while but just replaced it today with your video. Thanks 🙏
I got it off eBay! I just typed in the exact part number that is listed on the back of my screen & found it just like that. Let me know if that works for you too. I bought a “used/like new” screen.
Should be identical to any other civic with CarPlay. Perhaps it is just different part numbers listed on the back of your screen to properly suit the device it goes off of.

I have a question, do you have access to the stereo output wiring when you take the screen out? I’m trying to wire in some subwoofers and each tutorial I see has a traditional stereo/radio box with no screen
Yes you do. The wires connected to the plug behind the screen are directly connected to the speaker system and are the reason for all the power to them. Hence the audio fuse I removed completely disabled the screens functionality. You would have to cut and splice them if you did it that way though.
Hi there. I'm watching waaay after you posted but wanted to ask, would this method work on a 2015 Honda Civic? I have a touch screen display. I read through the comments and watched the video and didn’t get the answer. Thanks in advance!
This video is for 2016-2021 civics with Apple car play. I’m not sure it would work the same on the prior generation of Honda civics. Perhaps similarly but not the same exact process.
AutoZone or online. This is just some plastic pry tool. Similar to a bicycle tire pry tool. Anything works really even a flathead screwdriver with some tape on it for scratch safety.
Yes. This will ensure that no electrical damages take place. It may work without doing that but this is the safest way for your radio to not have any problems. You could also just disconnect the battery as another option.
Hello, I have a 2016 Honda Civic EX-T, my screen has some vertical color lines, I have rebooted the radio a couple of times and it worked again, but now it doesn't, I can actually touch it and seem to be responding, but can't see anything, would you think I need to replace the touch screen only or this may be different to what you had and there's' something else? I can actually adjust my AC because just touching close to where I remember it was but can't see anything, just color lines.
You can do this exact thing from the how to video and it will fix this problem. I read from another commenter who did just the screen glass which is also able to be done but a little more technical.
hey, i just came across your comment and have the same issue with my Honda Civic Touring 2016. did you end up replacing your screen yet? how’d it work out?
@@erykprofcy yes, don’t try to put an after market screen on the honda civic touring 2016 because they have stock subwoofers. instead, purchase the exact same screen your car already has from ebay.

I'm looking to change to a better one. Like an android that can not only do the civic's functions but I can connect it to my Bluetooth and put some YT or movies or something. Any recommendations? Ideas perhaps?
There is Android CarPlay kits available at different stores & different prices. Just gotta search around ! Probably a similar install setup but I would recommend ensuring it has the same functionality for your vehicle settings & system settings. Strictly just changing it to Android CarPlay. This way you can still reset maintence lights through your new touch screen just like the old one.
Perhaps it would. That’s like a reset . You can always hold the power button (the touch screen button for audio to power off) & once the screen pops up with “reboot” click yes. It’ll restart the system of your touch screen.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the part ending in A21 is the whole screen. And A11 is the digitizer (glass) portion of the screen only? You left this comment 3 weeks ago. Any update?
@@JPwrites85 there is a slight difference in the entire screen size for different model civics. This is why there is different “a” numerals. If your only looking for the actual “touch screen digitizer” (the glass on the front only) it is a more expensive and risky fix than this. I’d recommend just replacing the screen like this otherwise it may not work. There is a UV protection plastic on top of the glass. It’s more complicated to replace that IMO.
