I have the same bike and same bags. I was so worried about doing the keying wrong. I love how easily they come on and off. Only been in a couple storms and they stayed dry. Looking forward to what you do next. Ride Save

Hi, thanks for watching. I’m happy with them. I had them down some pretty rough dirt roads the other day and I thought I heard them making noise but it was probably just my imagination. I checked them afterwards and they were solid. All in all, I think they’re a great option if you don’t want that utilitarian look or soft bags.

Wish you had done a video of your disassembly of the case as I think I will need to disassemble mine because the latching mechanism is very sticky. The lock cylinder is extremely hard to push in to get the case open and very hard to turn to lock or to remove from the bike

Good luck with those. I’ve had 2 sets from Harley and the locks have failed on both sets(that’s 4 bags) Harley are looking in to it.

I have since gone to Mosko Moto backcountry panniers.

How did you get it off the bike? Can’t get to the screws that go through the back.

First of all love your channel, just bought a Pan Am so obsessively watching content. Do you think there is any practical difference between these and the aluminum bags? I know they look more "adventury" but I prefer the look of the bags you have. Just wondering if there is any reason beyond appearance to pick one over the other. When you Alexa went off it caused mine to go off when you said "Alexa".... :)

Hi and thanks for watching. Yes. The difference goes way beyond appearance. When I first bought the bike, I ordered the hard panniers with racks but they were on backorder with no set arrival date. So I switched the order to the sport bags. With that said, I had these for a few months and decided they weren’t right for my use. If you’re planning on staying on paved roads, or removing them when riding off road, the sport bags are awesome. The problem with them is they are very prone to damage for off road use. The first time you drop the big in the dirt, they will crack as they are completely made of plastic. The hard panniers are more rugged and less likely the break. I ended up going with soft bags from Mosko Moto and I am completely satisfied with those. I think soft bags are the best way to go if you plan on doing any off road riding.

@@retiredbiker Okay, thanks. I might go with these because my used bike came with the HD tank bag and soft trunk bag. So I could probably get by with those off road and use the sport ones when touring on road. Thanks for the info!

@@valis992000 The sport bags look amazing on the bike and they are easy to remove. I think you'll be happy with them. The left side you can fit a full face helmet inside, The way I look at it is, sport bags for street, hard panniers and soft bags for the dirt. I you fall a lot, and you will riding off road, you want something durable enough to take the abuse and not hurt you in the process. Which is why I chose the Mosko Mot Backcountry Panniers. Very durable and they are less likely to break a leg when it falls on you. See my video of the Florida Adventure Trail day 1 and youll see why. Thanks again for watching and enjoy your new bike.

I tried and failed on My lock cylinders, took them to a good local lock and key company, and they got them fixed up, when I picked them up, the lady told Me not to feel to bad, the local Harley dealer just brought in a set of bags just like mine, and they could not figure out how to do it. I like the bags, I went with these bags as I don't go off road anymore, this is My touring rig, the Pan America is replacing My aging Triumph Tiger, yes it has plastic bags on it too.

Thanks for watching. They can be tricky for sure. I have since sold them and helped the new owner of them re-key them to his bike. I have since gone to the Mosko Moto Backcountry panniers which are a soft bag. I found myself riding off road more and more and wanted a bag that could hold up to me dropping it in the dirt. I'm happy with them. But you cant beat the looks of the sport bags.

There’s another video showing how you can easily get to that locking mechanism without disassembling the entire side case.

Do you have a link? I’m considering selling these and going with soft bags and I’d like to pull the locks so the new owner can key them to their bike.

@@donnellans Thanks. That only works if the lock is keyed correctly. I had messed up and installed the wrong tumblers and couldn't get it out. Of course you still dont have to completely disassemble the bag it the way I did. His way is much more simplified.
