    Although 4Motion in the Arteon is a Haldex system (like on all MQB cars), it is surprisingly capable.

      4motion is a garbage half-awd system (other half is abs system -without it, haldex is not awd system) and arteon is a cheap vw GOLF platform, nothing to compare against real audi platform (a4 and up)

      @@napraznicul lol 4Motion performs as well as Torsen if not better in all situation, it has been tested by many people, the Arteon is not cheap,VW competes vs Mazda or other upscale car maker, Audi is Luxury brand that competes vs BMW or Merc Benz. You are an ignorant that spouts nonsense. The MQB platform is standard for most VAG products, nothing bad about it.

      Arteon is a poor golf in larger coat.. look underneath before speak, don't pretend you're "initiated" just because you read some promo papers at showroom :)))
      Arteon as well as audi s3, are more expensive vw golf's. Were designed for people who wish, but can't afford a REALLY Audi.
      As well as haldex is a garbage of HALF awd sistem (other half is the abs system of that car) that is in fact.. a permanent FWD system, not even an permanent awd.

      It's a overcomplicated and not reliable system who's USELESS without abs controller and sensors.. so IS'T a real standalone AWD system, but just A PART OF ONE. A part of one that isn't "permanent awd", but ..permanent FWD! :)))

    Driving sportly quattro (Torsen) is better than Haldex.
    However the electronic control of the hydraulich 4 motion's coupling is amazing.
    I've a Generation v on my tiguan and on twist situation or in "offroad" the car's behaviour is fantastic.
    I've also a a6 torsen.

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers for sure Haldex is an understeering system.never more thant 50% power to the rear axel.
      Torsen is oversteering because can transfere more than 50% behind.
      For driving pleasure Torsen 100%.
      With haldex is difficult to do a U turn drifting.
      With torsen you can do it closing the eyes.....it'completly natural.
      However both systems in 99% of daily situations are very good.
      I feel haldex more electronically controlled instead Torsen.
      Torsen is more intuitive in snow and ice if you want to drift

      @@roby_5259 That's not exactly correct. Haldex can transfer almost 100% of torque to the back, it just can't spin rear wheels faster than front. Torsen can't send so much torque, but it can spin rear wheels faster than front.
      In case of Haldex it is all about the software. It is interesting that many opinions say that Quattro Ultra (the same principle of operation as Haldex) is less oversteering than torsen. And in fact it is possible to do a U turn drifting with such systems if software allows for that.

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers i'm not completly sure about 100% rear torque of haldex.
      There's not a central differential that split the torque on the 2 output axle form the one in input (from the garbox).
      On torsen the central diff can redure the front torque and transfere it to the rear.
      On haldex there's not central differential.
      The coupling transmit torque from the shaft to the rear differential from 0 to a percentage that can't be more than the front axe.
      Never seen in my car situation where borh front wheel are stoped and rear are spinning.
      On some audi with torsen l there situation on ice where the car can turn on itself with front wheel quite stopped and rear spinning
      With haldex impossible.
      I've also a TT quattro with haldex 1 gen without esp or asr.
      You can drift a bit more on snow because the behaviour of the coupling is less controlled and more on/off with a huge rear push when it switch on.
      Always in my opinion.
      However it's a great discussion

      @@roby_5259 Everything you wrote is correct but it concerns wheel spin, not torque. In case of haldex it can't be 100% of torque sent to the the rear, but almost 100%. In reality it can be probably about 90%. That comes from haldex abillity to lock itself and from weight transfer (for example during acceleration haldex can send to the rear more torque than torsen). I don't know how new haldex systems are programmed, but there should be no ON/OFF noticable feeling like in old generations.

    You should test the Vitara on an incline of 10 degrees at least , also these 2 big noys on the incline should be tested. In real life situations most of the cars need the 4×4 in an incline not on straight road.

    Mega ucieszyl mnie ten wynik. Ale jeszcze bardziej cieszy mnie bol 4 liter fanatykow znaczku z 4 kolkami...hehe. Nie ma to jak Arteon. Najlepsze auto jakie widzialem i mialem okazje prowadzic. Inne po prostu sie chowaja. Kto nie wierzy, niech sie przejedzie.
    Schowa stereotypy do kieszeni. Bo jestem pewien, ze gdyby w tym aucie zamiast znaczka VW byly 4 kolka badz BMW, to wszyscy by piali z zachwytu...przestancie patrzec na marke, a zacznijcie na samochod.

    Niezła wiarygodność testu: 2 kompletnie różne samochody, z różnych lat produkcji,z różnymi specyfikacjami, które łączy jedynie silnik i nieudolny kierowca. Radziłbym popracować nad tym, bo kanał porusza ciekawy kontent, ale robi to trochę na skróty.

      No, torsen in Audi A6 (C7) is only 8 gear tiptronic ( 3.0 Tdi, rs6 ), tiptronic 7 gear dual clotch as if haldex

      My 4motion in my 2017 jetta kicked in on a large turn coming out of this mountain tunnel so there is a steep grade when you come out. When it started flashing and i heard this dinging alarm go off. I had no idea what was even causing it to activate but then I felt the car catch itself.... So I was already IN Freaking danger and the car took over before I even realised!!
      6 months later a drunk driver hit me at 50 after he ran a red.... Didn't even feel the impact felt like I was on one of those teacup rides I used to make my friends puke on. Got out the car without a scratch. I got another one. I'm sold lol.

      I think they both use Haldex V, but this fact doesn't matter. What matters is software which controls it and I am sure it is very different for both cars.

    You compare an old a6 of 2011 and a new arteon of 2016-2017..
    It's not the same platform and quattro system had been modified since this date to adapt to new standard of the newest platform
    As the 4 motion had been adapted to the new platform compared to old ones as well

    Surprised 4Motion did better. Not sure if the driver was trying to avoid wheel spin or if Audi’s traction control is less aggressive but still very impressionable on the Arteon.

    I have a 2003 Passat 4motion 131hp with stage 1 software up to 170hp in theory, never put it on dino. All I can say is that this car ia impecable on the road corners and drives so smooth. Have nothing to say bad about 4motion even for that old generation.

      @Frag EightyFive In Arteon it is 100% electronically controlled. In A6 there is mechanical center diff, so the system is partly electronically controlled.

    4motion kicks in when wheels begin to spin right? Quattro is torsen on everyone but a3,q5 and tt got haldex, isnt that right?

      ZiBOMG / Armed Ended. No, it used to work like that. Now it kicks in when wheels may have tendency to spin.
      Haldex in Quattro is in all models below A4/Q5, also in TT & R8.

    It's very interesting, that the rollers get "thrown away" by the Audi. The Arteon, however, seems to react much quicker, because the rollers don't move any milimeter. Good job, VW.

    Far too much wheelspin and time until some control unit decides to give power to the wheel with traction. Fake wheel drive describes this marketing gimmik better.

      This is not a fake wheel drive , waht you are talking about is DIF LOCK , not 4x4 , how so meany like and false statement i dont know but usually things are like that ,so let me tell you DIF LOCK is when there is no spin and all tyres rotate same speed , quatro is power to the 4 wheels how they spin is up to the individual setup , here its basic with ESP. Maybe they have torque vectoring advanced DIF , maybe even lock i dont know , but what i do know is that it aint no fake quatro, its real

      @@bmoney7764 who , me ? nah i drive shitty old Citroen C5 , European car , it has Hydraulic suspension very comfy to ride in, problem is , there is no feel , no joy in driving , cant even spin it , handbrake is on front wheels , very strange car , i would like one Subaru , better then Audi , and nice petrol engine , but , i dont think its gonna happen soon .

      Haldex always be better Volvo use and many others, the torsen VW only use support wake up.

      @@unexplainedwearenotalone3537 both systems have certain advantages. For example torsen is permanent AWD, Haldex system not. But Haldex can provide full locking between front and rear axle. Additionally a Haldex clutch needs a lot of electronic assistant... a classic Torsen is based on pure mechanic principles

      B. S. Minimal torque split of Haldex V is 90/10, so in fact it is permanent AWD.

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers every new haldex system can disengage the rear diff completely, but it just depends on what each manufacturer tunes the haldex to behave like that matters. The new quattro ultra system even disengages the entire middle axle to the rear to be as efficient as possible.

    What confuses me is that the Audi performs worse than the Volkswagen. That’s very strange as 4motion, Audi Quattro, seat 4 drive and skoda equivalent systems from my knowledge all uses haldex system. Same system, different name. Older Audi’s use a torsen diff

    VAG Volkswagen Audi Group these aren’t identical platforms yet it’s not a good comparison as the same engineers develop for both marquees.
    An Audi compared with a BMW or a Subaru would be a fairer comparison

    Dla osoby nie znajacej sie zupelnie na tych napedach,zakopanej w sniegu lub slizgajacej sie pod gorke na lodzie. Bo takie bym potrzebowal,mam do domu stromy podjazd okolo 100 metrow,i slabo odsnierzane z 30 metrow. Jaki samochod bys polecil? Sedan,ewentualnie kombi do 30 tys pln. Z gory dziekuje za podpowiedzi.

      FLEXATRON Nie znam rynku samochodów używanych, ale myślę, że w tej cenie i przy takich potrzebach (sedan oraz niewielkie potrzeby 4x4) warto rozważyć dwa samochody - Suzuki Kizashi AWD (możliwość jazdy w trybach 2WD i 4WD) oraz Mitsubishi Lancer (możliwość jazdy w trybach 2WD, 4WD oraz LOCK). Niestety Lancer w takiej wersji nie występował w Europie, trzeba szukać wersji USA/Kanada.

      @@4x4.tests.on.rollers hmm nigdy nie slyszalem o takim suzuki,na zdjeciach wyglada super,lekko sportowo. Tylko chyba bedzie troche maly jak dla mnie. Jestem wysoki i nie naleze do tych chudych. Nie smiej sie ale myslalem o pastuchu b6 po 2008 roku,2.0 z automatem. Z obluga nie powinno byc problemu,tylko ze to auto nudne do bolu. Teraz mam mondeo mk4,tez popularny samochod. Ale bezproblemowy i jak dla mnie ok,tylko ze juz dwa razy nie podjechalem zima do domu z powodu sniegu.

      @@pandemia9346 No to zależy, jakie masz potrzeby :) Podałem dwa raczej nie nudne auta z możliwością jazdy z napędem tylko na przód. Pastuch rzeczywiście nudny, ale i łatwy w utrzymaniu. A Mondeo nie występuje w wersji AWD? Może Insignia AWD lub jakieś Volvo AWD?

Przynajmniej na nic innego nie trafilem przy wybieraniu samochodu. Mam 190cm wzrostu i 140 kg wagi,a za moim fotelem chcialbym jednak kogos wozic💪

    I see nobody here notices that in 3 out of 4 situations Torsen system performs better (as in "faster"). Only at the last test it needed ESP off. If we are to be professionals we can also notice different size of rims and therefore different width of tire. While Audi is bigger and heavier car, it rolls on 17" rims with narrow tyres (probably 225) while Arteon is lighter and rolls on 19" rims with probably 235 tyre or more...Now how can that be relevant?

      If we are to be professionals then we must notice than:
      - there are 5 situations, not 4 ;)
      - it is not clear if there is torsen or crown gear diff in this Audi, whatever it is - it is here less important than traction control system
      - Arteon has 245 tyre, Audi 225 tyre. That doesn't influence the test cause non of the tyres lost grip on pavement.

    Test na rolkach nie pokazuje wyższości jednego napędu nad drugim a jedynie lepsze lub gorsze zachowanie danego napędu na...rolkach. Dodatkowo nie piszesz nic o oponach - są te same i w takim samym stopniu zużyte?

      Camonboard Kamery Sportowe Test na rolkach pokazuje jak działa kontrola trakcji. Opony nie mają tu żadnego znaczenia.

      @@marekmarek7368 W tym teście ważniejsza jest kontrola trakcji niż sam torsen czy haldex, aczkolwiek haldex ma tutaj przewagę - potrafi zblokować osie. Torsen był lepszy od haldexa w dawnych czasach, obecnie algorytmy sterujące to już zupełnie inna bajka, tak samo jak sama praca haldexa.

    Тест так себе. Колеса то разные и накат у фольца лечше из-за этого. Ауди всегда на уровень выше. Все новшества сначала дают ауди, потом фольцам, а потом уже шкодам....

      @@andreidan92 must have drunken when I typed that. Meant to say: I would maybe take an Arteon over A4 which is closely priced - A4 is a premium badge but its a sedan with less practicality. However I would take A5 over Arteon on anyday even if I have to pay a little bit more. VW has horrible reliability and although it's not a premium, its maintenance cost feels premium.

    Что вы сравниваете 2 одинаковые машины? У обеих стоит торсен и муфта халдекс 5 поколения! И вообще это одна платформа, один концерн, один и тот же двигатель в разных фантиках разных лет выпуска.

      Если что торсен это центральный дифференциал, его придумали на фольксваген групп ещё до войны, это типа первая система полного привода и ставили её на военную технику, а ауди со временем доработал систему, назвали кваттро, и ставили на гражданские автомобили
