Clapton had a fantastic version when he played with Gerry McGee in August 15th 1975 at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California. Unfortunately its not online anymore. They also had a fantastic version of Stormy Monday.
I hate to oppose your opinion but the best version which is also a better recording and also live, is Joe Bonamassa and Eric at Royal Albert Hall celebrating Joe's first time there. One of his biggest dreams at the time was to play at the Royal with Eric. Great version. IMHO
I.will say that ThE only White Who can SING It IS Eric. Even though THIS IS not his best versión. Try ThE one un Crossroads live in ThE 70's...or live in San Diego 2007....or many more , to hear unmatched singing

This is the finest version of Further On Up The Road I ever heard Clapton do. A close second is the duo he did with Jeff Beck. Thanks for posting! Anybody know where/when this was recorded?
I tend to agree, since The Band was incredible, but this one has the late, great Jamie Oldaker on drums. He passed away earlier this month, and he cannot be replaced!

Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn!!!!! Others can not compare!!!!!
Far and away my favorite version of this song! The Last Waltz is a very close second. The entire band was on point here.
I agree! 👍
@@Bobbyb732 I prefer the Last Waltz version but this is great too.

One of my favorite clapton cuts.... Incredible playing.. singing...
Good job mister Clapton
Just like a fine wine. Gets better with age.
Wow, guitar 101...the bluesman cometh...
Génial !!!
I've always thought this song was the best match for Clapton's voice and guitar style.

This is easily the best rendition. Swinging.
Swinging, and seemingly unstoppable.

Guitar Hero Eric Clapton!! Varginha, MG - Brazil
The BEST!!!
Fantastic 😅😅😅😅
The best version of "Further on up the road"!!!
Jorge Dat, I wouldn’t say that, it is good however a bit different from the original version.
THANKS FOR POSTING
I really enjoy the stories Eric is telling here
e.c. the king!
Simplemente el mejor
Bravo!
Carl Radle and Jamie Oldaker are the stars here.
Sure, and Clapton and his multi-faceted lead stylings are simply trying not to ruin it all. Come on, the entire ensemble is on fire in this tune.
The version with Joe B. is damn good as well, especially with horns!
That's the best.
❤
Unlike most he was great live.. "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad"
Another great version is on his album "The Blues", check out disc 2 (the live in concert disc)
When ERIC was GOD
Eric is always God !!!
brilliant

The Albert Hall version with Joe Bonamassa isn't to shabby either.

Nobody likes The Last Waltz version !?
That duo with Beck was grouse!

Great , but I think the version from ' The Last Waltz ' with Robbie Robertson beats all others hands down.
