- This is how I clear the 2017+ tail lights. It's not the cleanest job but it got the job done. you can definetly spend more time to get a neater result. My new favourite brz/frs/86 tails. Tricky to DIY but worth it.

If anyone got any tips for others to improve their tail lights over mine, add them in the comments below vvvv
Had rgb in them lol
@@jlowpez__ Saw this a little late but I've been researching a cheap way to do that. Will try it at some point.
I think you talked me out of doing this, I do appreciate it tho, we need a clear lense rep of the 2017 to come out so we can cut and actually have it fit
Yea a bit of a pain to do. Bigger pain to make it look clean.
These look a lot better than the aftermarket ones, gotta try this out with mine
so sweet looking, creative af, i might have to do this
Something different compared to the normal aftermarket options. Definitely needs patience tho lol. Worth taking as much time as possible with piecing it back together
this may be a stupid question... but seeing the 17+ taillights without a housing at all actually looks sick, and im wondering if its something i could run without worrying about damaging the wires or the taillights whatsoever. do you think thats possible? great vid
Funny you say that. I did think about that too when I opened it. But the ones I made here were for someone else so I didn’t want to mess with it. If I have a chance to grab another pair I’ll try to see if it can be sealed without the cover.
@@dSDays awesome stuff man thanks for the reach out, that’d be smth i’d wanna see
Im running no lense for a year n nothing is wrong at all i be using the pressure washer on them all the time on thing is will get surface scratches
@@demoninyouranus7721 how do they look? do u have an insta or something so i can see?
@@demoninyouranus7721i wanna see this. do u have an ig?
im about to clear mine soon, any advise???
@@ak47em don’t mess up
@@ak47em jk but take you’re time. And triple check there’s no holes after you seal it. If it leaks it’s a pain to dry them up to reseal it.
would valenti revos be around the same process? been trying to find people that do them but no luck, trying to do them myself
I’d guess it’s more like doing the 2013+ tails. It’s a much easier fit than these 2017+. I’m currently chroming the Toms v1 tails which I’ll post in a couple weeks. I think it will be the same. Also have a older video on chroming the 2013+ which I bet is similar too.
How have they been holding up?
They’re still alive on another car. It got passed around on a few local cars now.
Hey bro, you can’t just take off the red from the 17+ tails?
Unfortunatly not. The plastic is red through and through . Can't just take a layer off.
@@dSDays aw I see. I have my stock 17’ gt86 tails just sitting around and I wanted to try make clears with it but it seems like a lot of work lolol. Wondering if there is clear lenses for the 17’Stock gt86?
@@AyekevZ There are some companies that mold new lenses themselves. I've seen videos floating around of them showing how they make them for any car. Maybe finding one of those guys will help but no clue what that would cost.
Will the zenki 86 tail lights fit on the kouki 86 ?
Yup!
@@dSDays Nice ! Thanks !
jus bought 17+ clears from some dude n they leaked even after i sealed them 3 times lol
Damn unfortunate. If you haven’t already try removing all old sealant and reseal. Sometimes stacking on old sealant doesn’t stick well. Or even try a different sealant brand.
@@dSDays What sealant do you recommend. I took them apart and i’m about to remove the old sealant.
@@woah8313I’ve had nothing but luck with any outdoor weather proof silicone, just make sure it is good for plastics?
why would u do this? u ruined 2 good pairs of factory taillights
No worries you can buy them new from the dealer. No shortage of them.
@@dSDays yeah but they cost more than your aftermarket taillights. they have a taillight that looks similar to this with a clear lens. I would've taken that route instead of having trouble doing all that and taking it apart and having the internals exposed to contaminants dust and debris, fingerprints, etc, and caking the sealant on the back like that.....
@@johnnycage5513 Yea I guess so. Fair enough.
It’s 260 dollars the pair , stop being cheap 😭
Idk seems worth it to learn the skill. I can do similar jobs on other cars now. Plus I need that $260 for drift spares lol
Send the link buddy
260 where?
send the 260 my way please
Oh hell nah this too much lol
Haha I agree more work than you’d think. But this is now tied for first with the V1 Toms for my favourite lights.
@@dSDays looks good tho
Watching this somehow gives me confidence to do mine and in the process possibly regret it
I’ll admit it’s on the difficult side of diys just cause it takes loads of patience to put back together. If you’re willing to take the time you’ll get it done. Just don’t get frustrated and force it.
