I know I'm just starting this series, but can I just ask for a HUGE shoutout to the heroic soul(s) who typed out, what, *500 hours worth of subtitles* for this show?? I really, really appreciate them... I assume that as the show goes on, they get better mics and higher quality EQ, but in these early episodes, they can go from barely audible mutters to speaker-blasting shouts in seconds, and it's impossible to find a perfect volume level... making low volume + captions often the best way to view it. Not only did the subtitlers have to watch through the entire series, but they had to pay extra close attention to who's talking over whom and which sentences are the most important to pick out when 8 people are often talking rapidly over each other. They even took the time to provide the names of the speakers, which is hours and hours of extra typing when you add it all together. Thanks for all your hard work, whoever you are!

@@WarKeineAbsicht That's what you get for the oversimplification of 5e. If you want that level of detail and 'realism' I'd strongly recommend 3.5e if you haven't played it already. It's my personal favorite edition, but it can be much harder to find a campaign. That said, as much love as I have for the complications of 3.5 there's a lot to be gained from how streamlined, simple, and intuitive 5e is with things like not being able to see someone and that being disadvantageous. Although 3rd will always be my favorite, I love 5th and I think things like this are a big part of the reason it's the most beloved edition.

Even on rewatches, with the power of hindsight you notice many subtle things you didn't the first time around, like the offhanded comment from Matt about him always being in character shortly after they came back from break here. And even in the very first episode, he tries to break away from the group for his own solo adventure with the quote magical manor bit.

Sit your players down and talk to them. The game should be fun for you too. Explain that their style is a bit disheartening and try to get them to change.
I've managed the first two, but that last one is still an issue. The trick is a willingness to take your time and recruit players one by one as you find good ones. Run one shots first to scout out players, and don't put up with immaturity.
Thunderclap, Ballsack, House of Vulva (or whatever they called it)... ahhh poor Matt. Theres so many others that get butchered. In campaign 2 it's the Otters. (Auditors)

Dude matt is such a good DM. I had a dm that would always make us role a perception check whenever we asked any questions. Even out of character, player to dm. Like “What does he look like?” “Roll perception” “What color is it then?” “Roll perception” “So what does the village look like in some more detail?” “Roll perception” Got so damn annoying, it was like we couldn’t even get immersed and understand what the environment/interactions looked like, because he made our CHARACTERS role perception checks when we were simply asking player questions. Like I can’t really roleplay if you don’t tell us what’s going on lmao
Well thats excessive as hell any good dm should explain the enviornment or npc before that Im completely new myself and want to learn how to be the best dm i can for my twitter canpeign no takers so far. But thats probably a good thing for now
Basic appearance should always fall under passive perception, and there should be no reason passive perception. Even if you’re playing a blind character, you still have passive perception with sound and touch. Sounds like an awful DM. Unless it was a close friend, I probably would’ve left that game after a single session

3 - Matt is among the top 5 DMs in the world so enjoy the quality
4 - Travis is one of the smartest at the table, but Grog only has 6 intelligence
5 - Marisha is an amazing person, but Keyleth has no wisdom or common sense
6 - Scanlan is as close as we have gotten to Deadpool in DnD, and playing what is considered a useless class that is often the MVP
7 - Liam plays his rogue more like a Suave Han Solo to save the day, rather than the usual DnD rogue that will rob you blind and then rob your neighbor
8 - Taliesin is the person at the table with a plan for everything, so does Percy but Percy is also Crazy.
9 - Laura is a great Ranger and accountant of the party, and should be considered the thief of the party
10 - Trinket is the mascot of the party, but 5e DnD does not do pets well so is useless is most fights until Matt does everything possible to make him less of a burden in and out of combat 11- Ashley Johnson plays Pike the party's only Healer, but she has branched out into a show called Blindspot so inst around for a lot of the campaign

The joy in Matt's voice and face when he said "They are!" was so wonderous. 1:48:26
The joy at a nat 1. 2:06:20
So, forgot my obligatory first episode comment, but I began my adventure of rewatching this series on August 31st. Somehow it isn't the same with out seeing Glorious Flando with timestamps in the comments
We need a hero to rise up to the challenge!
I was thinking of doing timestamps. i dunno, ive never done it.
Basically we have new Tabletop, Spellslingers, Critical Role, and Titansgrave for you to watch over the weekend.
Geek and Sundry wishes you a happy holiday!
I don't think I have a life anymore. I've been trying to watch these while doing other stuff so I can at least keep up.
good morning...
Felicia Day Damn you Felicia why do you never give us any good shows to watch ;) Still laughing at your beat down of Iffy in magic #36to4
Felicia Day I love these shows. Now the GM of CRRPG is fantastic! He has excellent communication, vocals and his accents are to die for. If Will ever needs host help he's the man!
Perfect viewing with my 2 day old daughter
I love the wonderful mixture of humor in this group.
AnkokuEvangeline Haha, a lot of that is just the magnificence that is D&D. Almost any D&D group has some knee slapping hilarious moments. :)
What I mean is the mixture of types of humor: Grog does the dumb act, Tiberius does the lost-in-translation jokes, Vax brings the funny flirting, Vex cuts in with an ocasional expletive, Scanion makes up funny songs. This ensures that there'll be funny times no matter what happens in-game.
AnkokuEvangeline Haha, You've done what many have done before you: you got Vax and Vex mixed up :D. Vax is the rogue twin, Vex is the ranger twin.
***** Also, look how I wrote Scanlan - I really didn't have a full grasp on their names at that point XD
Can you imagine in 2022 having that signed Player's Handbook knowing how far they've come?
"Our goal tonight is 1,000 subscribers."
I joined around the 20's of campaign 2. This strikes a weird nostalgic chord within me feeling the ambition, yet knowing the outcome.
1:07:00 "why did you do that? Look at the mess you made." Background conversation Between Vex and Vax
So far my favourite characters so far are
1. Tiberius Kraghammer... wait?
2. Percival... amh... Percy.
3. Grog. Also, ale.
Joker I feel like Tiberius would be a great persona
Dude matt is such a good DM. I had a dm that would always make us role a perception check whenever we asked any questions. Even out of character, player to dm. Like “What does he look like?”
“Roll perception”
“What color is it then?”
“Roll perception”
“So what does the village look like in some more detail?”
“Roll perception”
Got so damn annoying, it was like we couldn’t even get immersed and understand what the environment/interactions looked like, because he made our CHARACTERS role perception checks when we were simply asking player questions.
Bro that’s so terrible lol You should only do perception checks for if you’re noticing something difficult to see. Like, what are they gonna do if you roll a critical failure at what colour it is? Say you suddenly went colour blind??
1:03:40-ish vax:"And a troll dick" Grog:"Nope that's gone... We flogged him with it and it disappeared"
"I retract my offer." XD Oh, Liam.
