Hi John, can see you put a lot of work to put this vlog together, it’s not easy for sure! Plus getting some great vinyl. I’ve been blessed with a new grandchild today, my fourth. Will be visiting London in June/July to see family, also a trip to Bali in September, googled record shops on the island and they have 6 of them! Have you ever been to Bali? This will be my fourth time! 😎. I’ve been told eating Durian helps if you have sleeping problems, also it’s the most expensive Thai fruit to buy!
Good to know about Durian.. I had never heard that. Bali sounds wonderful, never been. Congrats on your new grandchild ! It's crazy.. there are record shops in Singapore, The P.I. and no surprise, about 6 on Bali.. We miss Thailand and will be back in 11 months and counting ! Thanks, Roy..😁
I saw there Meiji's ad, are they common in Thailand? Are there ofre brands from Japan? So has those Japanese pressings orginally sold in Thailand when they were new? I liked that store had their own sleeves! That would make it easier to remember where the records are bought from. :) mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
Hello Recs ! I don't know Meiji.. I'm curious, will look it up. The Japanese press are used records that made their way to Bangkok, through the years. Great owner.. 120,000 records in his personal collection ! His sleeves are cool.. but I like mine better ! Thanks for watching.. appreciated. 😂

Appreciate you watching all of these travel vids ! The Japanese Classic Metal Band Albums are very good as well.. Earthshaker is awesome ! Hard to get their very best on vinyl, though..
i'm curious. where are these Bangkok store owners sourcing their records from? if mainly from the USA or Japan. it makes more sense to get it there instead. not only is it cheaper but the hassle of bringing it back to the USA.
First of all.. I am on vacation over there and it's fun to buy records in another country ! I am not there just to buy records.. but I do love the shops in Bangkok and Japan.. As far as Bangkok is concerned.. records are local with 100's of great Thai artists.. and western music is U.S. Japanese U.K. and German pressings mostly, not bootleg like you might be thinking. Do you travel ? I always make room in a big suitcase to bring back records from Japan and Bangkok, especially Japanese pressings ! Thanks for watching.. ✌
OK.. I would search best record shops in Bangkok online.. That's what I do. For genres and location..and how to get there. I will look right now to give you a recommendation. Ultimately, I suggest trying 3 or so shops.
Look at " Bangkok's coolest record stores online.. There are over 15 record shops in Bangkok ! " Record Shop" is one I wanted to check out.. Fortune Town Mall gas 4 or 5 shops in one 4 level mall.. On King Rama IX Road next to the Grand Fortune Hotel.
I am sure there are.. In Bangkok, I met a Philipino guy buying records at Vinyllica .. same time as me. He told me there are good record shops in Manila and surrounding areas.. I have never been to the P.I. ✌️
The Beach looks nice some very nice sights at the end plus a cute baby girl! so which albums from 1981 in the Metal/ hard rock section do you like best this album Y and T- earth Shakers or these ? Ac/dc - For those about to Rock? Black Sabbath - Mob rules? Iron Maiden - Killers? Def Leppard - High n Dry? Judas Priest- Point of Entry?
Glad you know about Durian ! That is a huge farm that my wife's cousin's husband and family own.. the mangosteen was my favorite, and Durian ice cream is real good !
I do ! Especially to sample albums to potentially buy on vinyl. I just use UA-cam.. everything is on there, obscure records as well. If I ever get a service, what do you think is the best one ? Tidal sounds good, and I don't use Apple.. everything is Microsoft with me. Thanks !
Excellent editing and presentation, Jt. Top drawer. Nice steady and slow pans. No dramamine required :-) Great work! Pricing seemed at parity with Discogs (1000 BAHT being $29 USD in a few examples). The records looked to be in pristine condition with no paper mold. Surprising given such a hot, humid 12-month environment. Thanks for sharing the food and your family interactions as well.
I had a 7 record segment of post punk / new wave that I forgot to put in first ! The video would have been too long, so this one is.. heavy on the rock ! LoL !
This was an important one for me.. Thank you for noticing the slow pans..Thailand is our home away from home for the three of us.. Jum and Sean, and I live our family over there. There was some slight paper mold on only a few inners.. not bad ! Thanks Michael.. see you on yours ! ✌️
Soul Disco Funk and Grove! do you know what people from that country who were kids in the 70's thought about Disco back then do you know? nice Jeff Beck, Black Sabbath , Ringo Starr? so heavy metal and hard rock are more expensive than pop would you say pop like the bay city Rollers or pop as in Lionel Ritchie, Olivia Newton John ect? Y and T from 1981! Sammy Haggar , Status Quo , nice Stones in Japanese? Ringo , Good bye Cream ? nice Jimi Rainbow bridge ,
Yeah.. They loved it ! Pop music is big over in the Asian countries, but... They have their own bands and artists that performed Disco and all kinds of pop music .

This mall of off King Rama IX Road has at least 5 shops between 4 floors of shopping ! We are going to Koh Samui next March.. might look at Krabi. My home is in Chonburi ( Central Thailand ) .. Bang Saray. We go almost every year !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 that’s awesome I just wasn’t there long enough to look anywhere else, but next time!! Krabi itself was really nothing special, but we got a small boat to Railay beach almost every day and it was a little slice of heaven! Man, I wish I was there now it was awesome 😂
It is so hot in August, and the rainy season.. We go whenever.. August September, May and June are scorchers, too. I can endure the weather over there, no matter how hot.. Sometimes ! I think we will look at Krabi, as we always stay in Central Thailand.. Pattaya is the big City close to me ( One Hour ).. Check out Bang Saray.. That's our town !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I went in May. Oh wow nice I’m jealous of that dude beautiful place!
Nice records especially that Jimi Hendrix record! I have also On The Level of Status Quo: Down Down is my favourite track of them!!
Thanks a lot ! I thought I included a bunch of good post punk / new wave records.. I spaced getting them in the edit.. No big deal.. next video ! Love The Quo !!! ✌️
mr.
Meijer Restoration ? Is this what you saw ?
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Meiji has at least some milk products and chocklate and something like that.
I loved the way you ended your video. I bet you had a ball!
We really did, and missed you over there with us sister !
Prices are insane, but very cool stores and video.
It's fun shopping in Bangkok for records, actually better prices than Japan and Europe. I get such incredibly great deals on quality records here in my region.. I don't mind spurging a bit when in Japan and Thailand ! Thanks for checking this one out..👍
@@jtsrecordroom3963
You know it. I'll never complain about the prices of records ever again in the states. Thanks for filming your travels, it's always fun seeing what other countries have to offer.
I agree ! Don't know if you have seen my thrift store find vids.. and Bill's Garage series. My last two hauls were NM records mostly in the shrink for .60 cents each, and better yet.. same condition for .25 cents each. Bill's garage records average 5.00 each. Thanks !@@Dagger-Deep
@@jtsrecordroom3963
I'll certainly go back and watch those.
Happy vinyl hunting...
Hey thanks so much ! I love digging for records, the trill of the hunt ! I have found many 50 to 100 dollar records for cheap.. Prized records, for sure ! Appreciated.. JT@@Dagger-Deep
Wow 5 record stores in the mall… killer!! $34 🤪? That seems a bit high even if it was a Jeff Beck album. Fortune Town Mall sounds killer and the record store looks awesome!! Sweet Deep Purple rekkid🤘🏻Sweet Spooky Tooth, I don’t have any of theirs or have listened to any material by them but I know that Stoner enjoys them.. Yes Y&T is one of my favorite bands from the 80’s I have ‘In Rock We Trust’, ‘Mean Streak’ and ‘Open Fire 🔥’. Nice Rolling Stones album I only own 1 called ‘Metamorphosis’ You really grabbed some sweet vinyl JT enjoy my friend. Thank you for sharing🤘🏻
Records are often a better price over there.. Japan and Bangkok especially for Japanese pressings.
I'm in Bangkok tomorrow and looking for 12inch house or R&B 90s-2000s classics. What record shops in Bangkok would you recommend
@@jtsrecordroom3963 thanks so much for the info
@@ashtonparenzee1545 Sure.. have a great time ! Please let me know what you bring back ! Sa Wa Dee Kap !
are there any record shops in the phillipines???
First of all.. I need to listen to " Point Of Entry" again.. It's been forever.. So, I will say ACDC and my Y&T pick. Mob Rules is up there also !
I've never had " Killers" either.. need to fix that ! Thanks, Mark.. 🙂
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I would take all of those albums over earth shakers.
@Mark Santucci I agree, Mark !! Anthem is a good classic metal band, though..
Man Durian, we have those in the Philippines also. They smell pretty funky but the fruit is really good
Glad you know about Durian ! That is a huge farm that my wife's cousin's husband and family own.. the mangosteen was my favorite, and Durian ice cream is real good !
The hexagonal rolling stones I bought a Spanish pressing
Love it ! I bet it sounds pretty good ! Mine too, although my U.S. OG press sounds a little bit better.. I like having this Japanese copy !!! ✌️
do you stream music ??????? also what streaming services do you use
I do ! Especially to sample albums to potentially buy on vinyl. I just use UA-cam.. everything is on there, obscure records as well. If I ever get a service, what do you think is the best one ? Tidal sounds good, and I don't use Apple.. everything is Microsoft with me. Thanks !
what sorts of physical media do you have and what do you mostly buy is it only music ????????
I have 4500 records.. 6000 Cd's.. 2000 cassettes.. 2500 movies ( Collected by Director ).
Been collecting for over 50 years..🙃
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Hoarding since the seventies lol
@@hr6733 Good time to open a small record shop here in town ! Hehe.. 🤣
Youre in your happy place. 😘
I really had enough time this trip to shop.. In Japan.. I could have had more time, but wanted to get going with Jum and Sean to Tokyo Sky Tree !
Good to see Status Quo getting some love 😎👍
Absolutely !! The Quo !!! Glad to have these on vinyl, as I have a lot on Cd anyway.. Thanks Craig.
One in Bangkok makes the hard man humble…..
Good thoughts , for sure.. and if the man can be humble ! Thanks Greg.. 🙏 Kap Kun Kap .
obi is so beautiful
Aren't they !! Thanks for watching this one. Going back next March ( Tokyo ).
I was told by the record store owner.. all pop records are cheaper than metal, rock, punk, and jazz.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I know you know what people thought about Disco so i'm not going there but I will tell you about me
I didn't mind Disco I was never good with music i'm still below par but I never had a problem with Donna Summer never a problem with
Gloria Gaynor 92.3 k2u ect.
@Mark Santucci During Disco.. ( 1975- 1980 ) I didn't care much for it.. and yes, Donna Summer was different. Now.. I like it !
