Sir, your videos are a joy to watch, the perfect combination of informative & interesting. It is this video that is the reason I have my very own Stuart beam engine making it's way to me (via courier) right now, a big step up from a Wilesco D16. I don't have the space, the tools or the ability to machine my own engines but your videos give me the confidence to work on my engine if the need ever arises. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
Dear Sir. I too have to wait until my wife is away to run my engines in the kitchen. Occasionally, I use the oven to heat up part for a shrink fit such as water jackets on IC engines (again when the wife is away). Keep up the good work and don't get caught.
Wow what an amazing running work of art. I built several of them back in 1965-78 period. I would love to own one again. I could spend hours watching it run. I wonder if they are still around for sale some where.
Beautiful engine. that's the speed I like to see steam engines running. Other than locomotives did stationary steam generally run at low to medium speed in the age of steam?
Full sized engines had parts weighing several tons, some of the larger beam engines had beams that where over 30 feet long and where really very heavy, you would not want that sort of equipment to be moving very quickly !
Great stuff as usual Keith - your are a much braver man than I - even though Mrs A is away you seem certain the smell of meths/oil/steam will have gone by her return..... Regards, Alasdair
Would it be possible to use something other than methylated spirits in the burner...kerosene perhaps ? I hate the smell of methylated spirits ! That is a lovely engine. A beam engine will be my first lathe project.
Yes Yes ..... coming up shortly - I have to wait until my hands return to the normal colour & texture after building all these steam engines .... another few days and they will about right . . . . :-)) I really prefer the old Hammond tonewheel organs & I only have experience of XK-3 & XK-3C . . . .
Excellent video and a beautiful engine also. What a great hobby you have, when the weather is rainy might as well stay in and play. Cheers

A very fine setup Keith, i like the fluted centre column on the beam engine which is a nice touch. Keep up the good work with the videos!

A beautiful little engine, I hope your little lady appreciates them too!
What kinds of nut drivers do you use for working on your engines
all sorts . . . . sockest, nut spinners, box keys etc

Kerosene is no good at all - if you don't like the smell of Meths - try Methanol - that doesn't smell much when it burns.
Dude, awesome fly ball governor!!
Good on you Keith, thanks for that mate.
Lovely engine! Your wife allows you to steam it on the kitchen table?
No Wife for me these days - she now resides in the Acid bath :-))))) (well no, not really, she actually lives down the road in a flat)
Once again, A+ brother.
Simply beautiful 👌
Would you mind showing us how to flute a column some time?
It is something I would never do as I generally rebuild existing engines.
Lovely engine. I'd be proud to show it off. and have a steam up while the wife is away :-)
That's not a steam engine its a flippin swiss watch!
Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing......
Awesome plant :-0
Keith sounds like a man who would do an excellent job narrating thomas the tank engine.
That's a Liverpool accent - I am not from there }:-)))
Im guessing a requirement for narrating TTTE is a liverpool accent then...hmm
Beautiful

Very nice indeed . Open the windows , the smell of meths can hang in the air . 👍🇬🇧
