    Magic was The GOAT. He played against best Sixers, Celtics and Pistons and if he didn't retire, we'd have seen a Lakers-Bulls rivality era

      don't know about that. The 1991 team lacked athleticism as evidenced by the finals and although Threatt was added, he was a far cry from what Cooper provided. Magic was playing at too heavy of weight too. He was well above 230 and was much slower.

      @@eddieG667 I saw some of the highlights from the 1991-1992 preseason games and he was still the same guy. It's unfortunate that we never saw what could've been with the Bulls IMO had he not retired.

      @sdcazares1980 ....had all the Lakers been healthy that 91 finals....JAMES WORTHY AND BYRON SCOTT, They would've won that finals for Magic 6th

    Magic had it all and he did it all 100%, win or lose, he won more than he lost and was everything.

      @@maximehemansyankey5333 Looking back at how GREAT Magic was, you can make the case he let his opponents win so they could get some shine so the league could grow. I mean when you have Bird confessing that you are the best he's seen and it's unbelievable and he confesses that in his own city after you beat him -- damn! It closes the door on anything. See Isiah said Magic was the best point guard and player and even Jordan said he measured himself to Magic...this is why even Rodman in '95 said Magic Johnson was better and he was because he could break you down so many different ways....and greater competition he was -- this is why I personally think he let Michael win in '91 just like Thomas let Jordan win in '91 because Jordan was the 'money' and the 'future' of everyone getting paid.

    I think his 87’ and 89’ regular seasons were both slightly better overall, but 90’ is right up there. Those 3, which happen to be his mvp seasons are definitely his 3 best IMO.

    • @eddieG667
      @eddieG667 2 роки тому +3

      agree with 87 and 89. What's interesting is he was already considerably less athletic by the 87 season, but he was probably 3x more savvy with the ball.
      His athleticism was much better before Byron Scott arrived as he was asked to play a much different role sharing point guard duties with Norm Nixon. By 87, his knees were bad and lateral quickness really was impacted. Then after his groin tear in 89, he was slowed even more and his dribble penetration was n't as much of a threat as before.

    Without Kareem, Magic showed he could still continue Laker dominance as he led the Lakers to the best record that season 63-19. Then, in the next season, he led the Lakers to the 3rd best record (58-24) and to '91 Finals before he called it quits due to HIV.

      @@70sfan Hey, sorry to bother you, but do you think you could try and reupload this video so as to maybe fix it? I am incredibly interested in watching this and I can't find any other videos doing such justice to later-career Magic Johnson's offensive prowess. Thank you in advance and I understand if it's too much of an ask.
