I',m not a pilot, but I just discovered your very interesting channel this morning and shared it with a very good friend of mine who is a pilot... keep up the good work and videos!
Hi Sir Drifto, i was going through my great grandfathers belongings, he used to own a aircraft spares store in australia and i found a full set of original certified plans for the P-70 Acey Duecy and a personal letter from John Powell himself. So cool to see you have one flying!
If you love The Aviator have you had the chance to watch High Road to China? Harder to find and they substitute Stampes for Curtis Jennie’s but well worth the watch. Not airmail but open plane flying.
Really enjoyed this wonderful vicarious experience.Thank you. Not sure if you are familiar with this author, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, he wrote of his experiences as a pilot for the French Air mail service amongst other things; I can thoroughly recommend his first two books, Southern Mail / Night Flight as well as Flight to Arras, I believe they will resonate with your own feelings/experiences around this unique form of aviation. Very best regards from the UK.
I learned how to snow Ski at Medicine bow! Well, I learned how to fall down at Medicine Bow. I did much more falling than skiing! That was back in the early 70s.
Talk about total and complete Isolation from society, Do whatever you feel out there. Super cool little Gathering. I'm curious. Is there any type of Cabin Heater coming from the engine to the Pilot? Or would've they just Super Bundled up. Amazing View!
So did you start from Walden-Jackson County Airport? I just flew this route from there to Medicine Bow in FlightGear. There's a big east west ridge about halfways point that makes a little 75 hp, light GA plane gasp for height.
I hate you! LMAO.....wow..so cool..I am sooo jealous..I heve flown most of thee airmail routes ...but on a flightsim...using a JN-4 I hope (on my bucket list to get there some day..before I can't.) Guess it will not be in a Jenny!
Microsoft flight sim 2020..and a brand new sim coming out in Nov ...it will be 10 times more in scenery 3d images...some old airmail depots are gone...but a feew exsist..and a scenery mod was done on the intire US Air mail route..with almost every marker. I have not used it yet. I am live on TWITCH right now...search helicopterpilot12 and you can see medicene Bow from the MSFS perspective///
