Wow! Rare to see footage of Robert Smith playing with Siouxsie. I count myself lucky to have seen them in Houston back in the 80's.

You need to look up "Nocturne" their infamous 83 Albert Hall show (also released as a live album). Some stunning live tracks and all with Bob on strings

    A jamboree of surprises
    Playing Russian roulette
    Or the lucky dip
A clenched fist to your heart
    Coal dust on your lungs
A silver tongue for the chosen one
    Heavy magnum in your side
    Or a bloody thorn

That recording has really stood the test of time. The quality of the picture for an 80's video recording is outstanding!
I'll subscribe for more of this type of viewing!

Certain brands of tapes have lasted better than others. 30/40 years ago I spent a lot of cash buying Professional grade tape from Scotch, Sony, TDK etc thinking they were better quality and would last longer, yet some of them are now rotten with tape mould, where as some of the cheapest tapes are still minted. Anyway, thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing Jim.

    1983-1986! her vocal peak

    • @anthonyyoutubefan7567

I'd say, 1980 to 1991 was her vocal peak. She quit smoking in 1987, which gave her voice even more height and pitch, which can be heard on Peepshow and Superstition. Unfortunately, sometime around 1993, she went back to smoking, at just the same time her voice started to show slight signs of wear, tear, and degradation. Even, The Rapture features vocals that rival hers from 1978 to 1991.

Fantastic little gig, Siouxsie looks amazing, shes a dark angel. I just wish the sound quality was better as the vocal seems hidden under the music a lot.

Being a live show, I can only guess the sound man just made a mess of the audio, it did happen a good few times on this show

I must have seen SATB and Siouxsie solo around 9 times, but rarely did they play anything from Hyena, maybe Dazzle a few times(which is absolutely amazing live). This video was really special to see with those songs.

Robert Smith has always been the best guitarist in The Cure, and one of the greats of all time imo. He has a very signature style. I love that guy so much.

Nope, I did not say that. I said "Recorded by me using a Sony C6" which is a home video recorder, it does not have a camera. Many youtube channels would have you believe they are the source for rare recordings on their channel, but 90% are just downloading from other channels and uploading to theirs. Where as everything on my channel comes from videotapes that I recorded 10, 20, 30 and almost 40 years ago.

Sublime video, but I guess one track is missing-Swimming Horses

    • @ScottishTeeVee
      @ScottishTeeVee  6 років тому +5

Though Swimming Horses was recorded in the Tube Studio on this date, it was not broadcast on this original and Live edition. The Tube was sometimes repeated very late at night and very occasionally with alternate tracks or extended versions of songs, so its possible the Swimming horses track was broadcast on one of the late night repeats or screened in another edition of the Tube, weeks later.
