Thank you for sharing the reality of anyone's creative process: the peaks and valleys, successes and do-overs... It's refreshing and incredibly helpful!
I'm loving your videos so much! The way you make them and edit them together is just so fun. Thank you for posting your google answers too. I didn't know I needed to know those things...but I did! 😂
You're such a relatable UA-camr! I know you weren't trying to be funny but there is so much comedy when one shares their vulnerability and can laugh at oneself. We've all been 'stuck' but I love the way you pushed through this marathon! Totally enjoyed the Part I and II sock design episodes! Thank you!
Story of my life that I need to google the answer to every damn question that pops into my head 😂 I made it through college without internet and now we’re adducted to it. After this episode I’m tempted to time myself to see how long it takes me to knit 🧐
I am so thankful for how real you are! It’s helpful to see designers being real, where everything isn’t perfect and going right ALL the time. And the sock is great!! I couldn’t wait to grab it, thank you so much!! 💖
Is it bad that laughed out loud when you said you started ‘off on the wrong foot’ for this endeavour? I’m not actually laughing at you but the choice of expression is priceless for a sock designer 😂 I totally love the design and colours of your sock! As an aside, one of your tutorials got me starting colourwork! I knit English style and my continental is just too tight right now! Thanks a much for clearly filmed, amazing tutorials! Can wait to dive into your knit stars videos! ❤🎉
Okay I know you were running out of steam as you finished this pair but can we all just take a moment and admire how CUTE those turned out?! It's like retro gym sock meets beach vibes!
Thank God for you Summer.🎉 You made my whole weekend. The feeling of doubt is a consistent fight, but I love how you keep pushing through it. Stay brilliant 🎉🎉🎉😊
You are so funny and completely relatable. I feel like my focus was a lot better before we had the world at our fingertips. I can’t tell you how many times I Google something random in the middle of a task that I have no business stopping to Google. 😂 Everything you do is awesome! Thank you for sharing. ❤
Create a mood board before you pick your colors. I would keep going with the off-white and make the heel and toe the red color. Think that would be really cute! Love the finished socks!!!
You had me laughing with you. Thanks for taking us along on this fun ride. Wee! The socks are so nice the colors really go well together. Have a blessed weekend friends! Ps thank you for making this pattern free!
Summer once again you hit it out of the ballpark and put out the most amazingly entertaining video. You are so genuine and delightful. Seeing you give Beasley kisses makes me smile. I tell my Arlo if he could have biscuits for every kiss he gets in a day he would be a rich dog!
I’ve so much enjoyed laughing 😂 with you. You are amazing, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. This evening is my first time watching your videos. Can’t believe I was not familiar with you. I saw your book in my LYS, I’m pretty sure I’ll go back to purchase it. Your color selections are right on!❤️
I loved this so much!! I google and Amazon all the things in between stitches.. I get you!! 😅 loved seeing the process and love the socks! Thank you Summer! Have a great week!!! 🧦 💕 🧶
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your giving out a free pattern, which I promptly downloaded. Thank you so much for brightening my day!!! I am binge watching previous videos today. ❤
Thank you for the sock!! It’s a great Leap Day sock. I am new watching your podcast. Kelly from Knits&Pieces showed your book and mentioned your podcast. It’s been a really fun one. I love your dog. I google everything too. I saw Steve Nicks in her last tour I think 2016. Hot yoga is great try it again. I did Bikrams Hot yoga years ago for a few months. It was hard but after you feel good.
Colors are such a funny thing. Ad soon as you started knitting the leg with the dark burgundy color around the middle of the video I was like Nope! However, as a lover of all things purple I was hoping to see how that combo worked. I have a lot of time on my hands but I can’t imagine knitting on your time deadlines, it would make me extra anxious. Different strokes for different folks and all that, right? Glad it works for you.
I'm going to do these asap. I also want to do this pattern in dingy (🙄) cream with maroon and gold stripes. Takes me back to the locker room after PE. HATED PE but love the memory. I know , I knoooow! Thank you for the pattern and discount.
I’ve been cracking up throughout this video! Cause I’m doing the same thing with my WIP. This morning I did the math to see if I could finish my second sock today and well , it’s taking me a bit longer than I expected. So now my goal is tomorrow. We’ll see. 😂😅 I have some new fun yarn to use that is keeping me motivated to finish. I also ordered your book and can’t wait to pair my new yarn with your patterns! 👏
Summer, I enjoyed your journey. I laughed and cried with you. lol! I could literally feel your angst and your elation. I also love the music you use. The intro and the in between. The guitar rift . Who is the artist?? Thank you!
Even if you design the socks with your own color scheme, the chances are people would knit with what they like and don't follow your color combination. Hmmm....
Agree that the first sock was ugly! I love your final Leap Year design. Now I have to look for yarn that has those colors! Thanks for making the pattern available for free.
I thought I was the only one who stopped to Google how big is Big Foot or Idris Elba’s birthday. I am not alone. I asked my knitting group about sock knitting and they all groaned. But I love the idea of putting lots of pretty colors into one project. Now I’m doubting myself.
Very interesting to get a peek at the design process, you've inspired me to dig for some colorful yarn for my next pair of socks! I enjoy knitting socks for myself, and for my 6yr gdtr because she loves wearing them, and they knit up so quickly 😂
Those socks are fantastic and so much more of what your style seems to be . The white on the other socks seemed to be bringing the happy level down maybe? I just discovered your podcast/you tube thing and am loving it. Making your DK pattern as I watch .
Ugh I feel your pain! I put yarn balls in a bowl and look at them for days until something hits! Then i go for it and then rip out… 😏 🤣 then i start over .. rummaging thru my stash!.. love you book and i forge on!!!!
Thank you for the pattern and the coupon code--the code ends on my birthday! I was lucky enough to find your book at a shop last week--I'm hoping that someday we will meet, and you can sign it.
Thank you for admitting you are not thrilled with sock #1. How many times have we knitters found ourselves there? The other thing I have discovered knitting color work. I can hold the colors together, sort them into piles, and I am still unhappy with how those colors knit together. I have also been pleasantly surprised.
Thank you for the sock pattern. I can't wait to make them. Do you have a recommendation for a non-wool sock yarn? I live in Florida and can only wear superwash merino socks a few days a year but I love making socks.
Love the sweater you are wearing and the book. Knitting on my second pair from the book. Thanks for writing it, it's a great reference n pattern book for my collection.
All the angst was worth it. I love the neutral vibe and would like to see the heel/toe in the red-orange. My thought about color is to consider the value (saturation) when combining colors.
I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who googles random things that pop into my head 😊 What did we do before google? Love the honesty of your videos ❤
I've been tempted to make more of the tiny tree socks from your pattern to test out yarn color combos to see if I like them before committing to the whole pair of socks. Then I will have more cute tiny socks to throw in a drawer for holiday presents
like the naturel body with the grey toes and heel anf the blue with the maroon stripes are great, not really a fan of maroon body but, if you like it thats what matters
I hear you…up, down, distractions! For me (any…some…no, MOST!?) I may change my mind (which is a LOT), at which point I, ohhh, wash dishes (gasp!!!) or do some other c.h.o.r.e. that I realllly don’t want to do… while I decide “what’s best” for that particular project. Sigh. I just don’t fight it. Tomorrow is always better! I’ve learned I can’t “psych” myself. And I’ve tried. lol Too many (color) choices can stump me, freeze me… Thank you for the pattern! I think it’s perfect! By the way, you could probably have finished your sock/s quicker IF IF IF they were stockinette. Ask me how I know (Broken Rope socks w 2 gym stripes seemed to take a while. However, once that knit/purl rhythm kicked in…I was cruising!!!) Thanks for making me chuckle! And that first pair wasn’t THAT ugly!
Oh my, Beesly’s expressions are just priceless. You and Beesly had me laughing. Darned internet distractions- facts we need to know NOW! Lol! The socks look great! I too underestimate how fast I can knit-sigh! Why can’t we knit in our sleep!
I LUV the design and the colours you eventually decided upon! I’m exactly the same as you. I think I should be able to churn out a pair of socks every day. My brain is working faster than my hands and I just want to get to the next pair. While I’m knitting socks, I’m watching other people knit socks. I fall asleep knitting socks. I think I need help! 😳😅 PS - thank you so much for sharing this pattern. 💕
I just got home from visiting my grandkids overnight, and had to run in and watch this week's episode😅 I was so bummed that I forgotten to bring my earbuds so I could watch b4 bed last night, but my husband so would not have appreciated that move. But, he was totally fine waking us all, including the 11 month old baby, with his alarm at 5 am this morning😂 I get the laughing. I do the samething. I do find, some people are humorless in certain situations about it. Like the time we were white water rafting down the New River in WV. The guide said we could float in our life jackets down a set of rapids, but he cautioned stay on the left of the large rock. Well, as only I can do, I got going down the right side of that rock and couldnt swim against the current. All I could do was laugh. My husband said, "I'm gonna need to to quit laughing and swim harder!" Yeah that wasnt even a possibility, so was else was I to do but laugh. The plus side is my grandkids think I am a hoot , because Gaga is always laughing!
Both my husband (non-knitting knitting enthusiast) and I (knitting all the time) are enjoying you and your channel and your sweet dog! I love the sock and the color combination. Years ago, Shakespeare Santa Cruz did a set design using this retro color combo, and it was stunning. I can’t remember what play it was, but the set was memorable!
I really needed to hear that someone else gets the huge lows (and highs!) from knitting. Tried your weaving in ends as you go, and your jogless method for stripes this afternoon - complete failure! Now I don't feel so bad!! Another low: seeing everyone in my sock knitting groups knitting socks from your book when mine won't be here for at least 2 more months!!! Thanks for being so real. Take care!
That was so much fun! I literally laughed out loud with you. I related to all the distractions, and underestimations of the amount of time it takes me to finish knitting socks (although I’ve knitted plenty of them! ). Love the final sock version and am downloading it now… Thanks for the generous coupon. You are the best! See you next week.
So amazing! Thanks for taking us along on the design journey. You finished them, and they are beautiful, that’s what sets you apart…it’s a process and it doesn’t always go as planned. You making yourself vulnerable to us is such a gift. I teach knitting and so often knitter’s get very caught up in perfection and getting down when things go wrong. I try to get them to understand that they are learning and mistakes aren’t setbacks they are opportunities, frustrating opportunities, for sure, but alas such is life! Thanks again and YAY you did it🎉
I love how real you are. I laughed with you. Such fun! I think March is a hard month with all the weather changes. Warm one day cold the next, that is a roller coaster. So, I think it effects us emotionally without our actually being aware. I find decision making hard in March but feel a deep need to make changes, not a good combination….. and it translates in almost everything I do. Sock knitting is just another area that get messy.❤❤❤
Finally, I found a design for a sock set from Halloween a few years ago😁. It's not the vibrant colors I want, but right now I'm on a no-yarn-buy and I've wanted a Halloween set for years, and this design completes my hat, mitts, and sock set 😊😊
Oh my gosh I feel so affirmed in my constant googling of all the strange questions that pop into my brain as I'm knitting!!!! Mad respect to pattern designers. So much work goes into that final product!
You really started my day off right. I laughed out loud along with you several times during this video. You are so right about the distraction of Google!! Loved watching the process and love the finished socks. Thanks for the free pattern!
That was the most relatable video 🥲🥲 I'm loving watching you settling into doing this and your personality and life coming through them more and more 💖
Thanks for sharing your design adventure. The creative process isn’t linear and it’s good to see how each attempt builds to the successful end result. Bravo!
Hello. I downloaded your leap year free sock pattern thank you for a freebee. I was going to start them today and while I was reading over the pattern , I got to the instructions for the leg it says start slip stitch pattern repeat row 1 and 2 that's all ,so how do I do the slip st pattern?
Thank you so much for the free pattern and the discount code. I love your sock designs and your podcast. This was a lot of fun watching you design a pair of socks!
Check to see if your area has radiant hot yoga vs traditional hot yoga. My favorite hot yoga class was radiant heat ( it came from the floor) vs heating the entire room. They turn on the heat at the beginning of class, and it warms up as you warm up, and the heat gets more intense as you do more floor work and are closer to the heat source, then they turn it off and it slowly cools off as you cool down.
I was going to vote on your choices early but there were too many 😁 .. it’s snowing here and a bit blah but watching you made me laugh and feel like the sun was shining
Beesley is sooo cute. I think there should be a sock named after him! ❤
Oh my goodness I’m the very same as you when it comes to getting distracted. I google ALL the time and so it takes me ages to get any knitting done 🙈
Thank you for sharing the reality of anyone's creative process: the peaks and valleys, successes and do-overs... It's refreshing and incredibly helpful!

Howard Johnson’s vintage colours - the HoJo socks!

Oh thank you!
Okay I know you were running out of steam as you finished this pair but can we all just take a moment and admire how CUTE those turned out?! It's like retro gym sock meets beach vibes!
Not me pausing the video to see who in Fleetwood Mac is dead.
Hilarious 😂
😂😂
Same! 😂
Loved this episode! I felt all the highs and lows. The elation and the despair!
The socks turned out so cute. ♥️♥️♥️
You're AMAZING! All the googling and distractions is me. Love your casual look too. Thanks Summer for taking us along. So fun. All the best, Kimberly
OMG literally LOL at the googling and unrealistic goals on finishing a knit. THIS IS ME ALL THE TIME😂 my boys call me the mouse that ate the cookie😂❤
Thank God for you Summer.🎉 You made my whole weekend.
The feeling of doubt is a consistent fight, but I love how you keep pushing through it.

This was a blast to follow along with!! Love your final socks!

As always I enjoyed this episode! Thanks!
Amazing video, obsessed with the final result. Also, what is that gorgeous cable sweater you're wearing?!

Thank you for admitting you are not thrilled with sock #1. How many times have we knitters found ourselves there? The other thing I have discovered knitting color work. I’m really excited about the slip stitch garter patter. I was planning to freestyle a sock with this texture. You did the hard part for me. Inspired 🌺
Thank you for persevering and giving us this awesome pattern! I’m knitting them up right now and loving them 😊
You're hysterical! Going to Rav now to get the pattern.
All the angst was worth it. I love the neutral vibe and would like to see the heel/toe in the red-orange. My thought about color is to consider the value (saturation) when combining colors.
That was quite entertaining. I really enjoy you:)). Nicely done
Great episode! Greetings from Germany 🧶
Have you considered wrapping a paddle pop stick or ruler with your yarns to simulate a swatch of your stripes and colours?
Other than the many many ads, I am enjoying your videos. Thank you for the pattern.
yes design number two is really cute, happy designing going forward
Thank you for the fun pattern and sharing your process. I have several of your patterns and love them all!
You are hilarious! Is there a future in stand up knitting comedy?!?
I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who googles random things that pop into my head 😊 What did we do before google? Love the honesty of your videos ❤
I've been tempted to make more of the tiny tree socks from your pattern to test out yarn color combos to see if I like them before committing to the whole pair of socks. Then I will have more cute tiny socks to throw in a drawer for holiday presents
like the naturel body with the grey toes and heel anf the blue with the maroon stripes are great, not really a fan of maroon body but, if you like it thats what matters
Knitting a whole sock in one day??? It takes me a month to finish shorties!!!
Me gustan mucho las combnaciones de colores que haces. No sé inglés pero con los subtitulos te veo en este canal.
I honestly loved the first sock! It was so cute!
I liked the blue and cranberry together.
Lucky leap year only happens every 4 years! 😮
Love your socks! Thanks I will be knitting them soon. 🧦
Have fun!

Too many (color) choices can stump me, freeze me…
Thank you for the pattern! I think it’s perfect!
By the way, you could probably have finished your sock/s quicker IF IF IF they were stockinette. Ask me how I know (Broken Rope socks w 2 gym stripes seemed to take a while. However, once that knit/purl rhythm kicked in…I was cruising!!!)
Thanks for making me chuckle! And that first pair wasn’t THAT ugly!
You need to define an objective. State the reason for making the sock or state the socks purpose.
Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that I finished your I’m So Basic Sock. Gonna start another as soon as I earn I figure out intarsia.
Google really is both my enemy and my ally!

It may have been a struggle, but you ended up with the cutest pair of socks EVER
I just got home from visiting my grandkids overnight, and had to run in and watch this week's episode😅 I was so bummed that I forgotten to bring my earbuds so I could watch b4 bed last night, but my husband so would not have appreciated that move. But, he was totally fine waking us all, including the 11 month old baby, with his alarm at 5 am this morning😂
I get the laughing.
Thanks for the free pattern. I’m currently knitting the flea socks from your book. I love your patterns. And I love your podcast. You make me smile.

At 20 minutes-ish, you had no choice but to stop and pet Beesly’s tummy. When the fur baby needs luvins, the fur baby gets luvins! 😊
Finally, I found a design for a sock set from Halloween a few years ago😁. It's not the vibrant colors I want, but right now I'm on a no-yarn-buy and I've wanted a Halloween set for years, and this design completes my hat, mitts, and sock set 😊😊
What a Fun Ride! The Socks are Great and Thank You for the Pattern. 🧦 I’ve just cast on so I’ll be making these now! ❤
“I look really good from the waist up. Sweatpants on the bottom.” This could be the name of my autobiography!! 😅
Oh my gosh I feel so affirmed in my constant googling of all the strange questions that pop into my brain as I'm knitting!!!! Mad respect to pattern designers. So much work goes into that final product!

I had so much fun watching this video! The socks are terrific! I love the colors so much. thank you for the free sock pattern :-)
I know, design some knee high socks
Thank you! I enjoyed watching this week so much! I feel your distractions that much 🤣 I often think that I‘m faster too…
Hello. I downloaded your leap year free sock pattern thank you for a freebee. I was going to start them today and while I was reading over the pattern , I got to the instructions for the leg it says start slip stitch pattern repeat row 1 and 2 that's all ,so how do I do the slip st pattern?
Hello! The Slip Stitch pattern instructions are right at the top of page two :)

Thank you so much for the free pattern and the discount code. I love your sock designs and your podcast. This was a lot of fun watching you design a pair of socks!

Thanks for the free pattern! Aqua and red are a great color combo. I'm glad you stuck with this to create a great pattern for us.
Thank you for being you: the process can be frustrating sometimes but I love the end result!
Yes! Always googling the most important things that can not wait. So looking forward to starting some leap year socks…

I love that you’re as dramatic as me. 😂 Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
I was going to vote on your choices early but there were too many 😁 .. it’s snowing here and a bit blah but watching you made me laugh and feel like the sun was shining
