I honestly love this idea of "Trying to guess character traits from the character designs", trying to figure out what the design is trying to say where you either don't know the lore or there is no lore. Would honestly love to see something like this more often.
I saw the lineup of characters around the 9 minute mark and audbily groaned, because you have all these different shapes and sizes for the guys and then there's just "the women". Soooo unbearably boring :d
Hey skyen. If you want to look for lore for this game, you can search for interview with Justin Groot (the guy behind lore) made by oheyspun. It's actually kinda cool. Idk if you saw it yet, but it's a fun listen. Love your content as always 🔥
Pretty disappointed in the fact that other than the literal bunny person, the women seem to be pretty same-y in their body types. Celeste is more delicate than Bishop, sure, but in general, hourglasses all. Meh.
This is a detail that really surprised me because you see all the interesting character concepts for games like League and Smite and how adventurous they get, only to devolve into what’s “safest and most marketable”, so you’d THINK they’d get that adventurous and use that indie freedom for this game, but no… it’s just conventionally attractive skinny girl with abs, or attractive goth girl with deadly weapon for all of them
omg finally I find someone else who shares my opinion, I really thought that the devs would try to avoid early (and, honestly, current) League's mistake and have the women not only be beautiful women in different getups
I've had a lot of fun with the game in it's recent beta, I do think I agree that is the target audience, although it's gameplay does set itself apart a lot, for me that has been the biggest hook, I really enjoy the aerial combat in the game The game is definitely worth giving a spin ^^
Love to see the character development arc of appreciating Widowmaker design more and more with time. Hopefully one day we will reach the " she is good actually" era. 🙏🏻
This game is kind of confusing to me because they say they want to get away from the competitive esports tryhardy aspect of games like League and Overwatch, but then the core mechanics of the game are fairly high skill floor things like top down view, cliff gaming, gliding, jungle camps and objectives, moving damage zone battle royale, resurrection system, sky dropping, inventory management, etc etc etc. Like it very much doesn’t seem very “just pick this up and play it on a random game night with friends” While it LOOKS fun, it doesn’t seem very casual ? And I don’t think “we’re NOT going to bank on esports like those other major games do” is going to change that
There were a couple of things you didn't mention that I couldn't unsee: Oath -- the chest armor is a giant parakeet face. (two glowing yellow eyes and a golden beak) Ghost -- in addition to the weird twin-barreled rifle, his hip pack looks like a holster for a book. Perhaps he's a believer in some in-world religion, but has decided that he needs to go on some kind of lone wolf quest for it; as an ex-Templar sort, he's repurposed his holy book holster to carry those glowing magazines for his rifle. Either that, or "action is his religion!" Shrike -- her belt buckle looks to me like a cartoon image of a bird's clawed foot in a grasping position. That's a nature image, yet most of her garb suggests she's used to the city. So, "urban hunter" is her theme. I can't decide if it's better or worse character design if the result is "the character is trying to express their own theme, but isn't artistic enough to really pull it off."
Who else thinks that Skyen should check out Detective Diaries by Crashlanding Studios? He would be the perfect person to analyse the animation and subtle storytelling.
I really liked playing the game during the open beta, but my main issue with the current characters is that all the female characters save the moon rabbit are essentially normal, beautiful, human women in different getups, and the male characters get a floating void man, a rabid flame-throwing fox thing, a giant mech with a lightbulb head, etc. I figured that the devs would have thought not to follow in early League's footsteps, but maybe the less interesting women are intentional on another note, the creator formerly known as Sp4zie is now called Spuzie! he changed it a while back
I kept complaining about Aurora and talking about Supervive's bunny, but during the closed testing there was no footage of her. Glad to finally be able to point out how much more interesting the design is this way.
Hi hello howdy, Question about comments on the bunny character. Re: the red ropes...when a comment is made about, "why the contrast, there must be a meaning here?" Is it a reasonable enough answer to just be for contrast? I know the best character designs tell a lot of story, but also can't decisions be made just for visual interest? What should the balance be or where should that line be drawn? I understand this question might be a bit ignorant or opening too big of a discussion lol
Well, the thing is, shapes and colors and fashion and so on - all the elements of design - have semiotic content regardless of a designer's intention. Red is the color of blood, passion, love, heat, fire, anger, and so on, and the choice for a designer is whether to use those meanings _intentionally_ or else have the audience find their own meaning in it anyway. I tend to assume that professionals are thoughtful and intentional about their designs, I feel that's the best way to engage with art in good faith. You can absolutely choose to see the red as purely an "I just think it looks nice" feature with no real intent behind it, that's a valid interpretation, but it is an interpretation that needs to be argued for same as any other :)
void‘s beard reminded me of these white gorgeous moths that look vers majestic, maybe he is like a government/monarch adviser? business pants, tacticsl hands very angela merkel 😂
I acualy love this stile of video you're doying (aspecialy what you did with Deadlock and Hadesb 2). Do you think you cud make something like this for games like Valorant, Apex legends, Dota 2 , etc etc?
It would be super interesting to see his review with dota 2 cause 1/3rd is interesting, the other 3rd is painfully basic and the other are borderline stupid (good and bad)
I played the demo, and I must say it's a shame a good chunk of the personality you attribute to the concept art got really lost in the 3D evenly lit models you see in the champion viewer. They still have personality, but they're all MUCH cleaner and it feels like some of them really lost some core bits (I don't remember seeing any spray paint on Oath despite maining them, out boy wizard gun man is much cleaner, and the lightning elementalist looks a bit older and less explosively electric)
@3BSkyen still it was interesting, but theres characters presentations, and some character designs from this are outdated, or at least reworked, like Shiv. The sphere on Zeph back seems to not be a moon anymore too
really hope this game gonna get some lore, and some semblance of a progressing narrative. one of the most painful thing about being an Overwatch fan is the overarching narrative of the entire franchise is going absolutely fucking nowhere. Winston pressed that Recall button 8 goddamn years ago, and NOTHING happened. please please please give us ways to engage with the franchise OUTSIDE of just gameplay

The poor sniper took off all the flashy clothes so she wouldn't get torn down like widowmaker only for Skyen to not like her shirt.
52:15 "I need a drink" *pours water into hoodie *
45:55 Those flowers look like a lotus, which have some associations with the moon I think
I would read Zeph as more... lotus-themed than moon? The orb is like a flower bud.
I saw the lineup of characters around the 9 minute mark and audbily groaned, because you have all these different shapes and sizes for the guys and then there's just "the women". Soooo unbearably boring :d
Hey, they've got **slightly** different body types/j
The character designs are more finalise and change a little in game, so if you're interested you might wanna check it out!
Gonna need your rambling today Skyen
Big robot with lightbulb head. I didn’t know I needed it till now
Dynamo ?!
Skyen's conspiratorial obsession with the moon continues
Tonight... we steal... THE MOON!
I'm digging the art style!
"got bitten by a hippo" 🤣
54:25 ok my next DnD character will definitely be bitten by a hippo to gain some sort of power
Were_giff?

Elluna gives me Shinto shrine maiden vibes. The red cording would lean into that as well.
I'm loving the art style for this !
Zephyr being moon and nature sounds like druid themeing to me
GOOOD YES, just got here and ready to watch but trying to guess lore by character design is something I love doing and rarely get a chance to!
This would be a fun idea to do with Dead by Daylight characters - based on the visual design guessing their powers and/or story
Pretty disappointed in the fact that other than the literal bunny person, the women seem to be pretty same-y in their body types. Celeste is more delicate than Bishop, sure, but in general, hourglasses all. Meh.

Praying for Oath to be a cute girl
I just realized they have a cinched waist too actually, fek
@@Broketheair 😄

Waited for you to point out the numbers on Oaths torso neck sort of, is the classic robot numbers that spell the name 0471-1

I'd love to see you cover Warframe designs

Pretty sure someone did a lore interview with the devs

3:20 oh god it’s the league of legends all over again

PS: I never noticed the JoJo hands man never has a torso, lol
"Too much detail", "over designed", "lots of sh*t going on"... This just means the designers are trying to make us cosplayers cry! 😆

Gameplay description reminds me of eternal return

I think it would have been more interesting if u checked the kits and the animation of the characters
Maybe, but I don't have any means to do that - there's no model viewer and the game isn't available to play right now.
@3BSkyen still it was interesting, but theres characters presentations, and some character designs from this are outdated, or at least reworked, like Shiv. The sphere on Zeph back seems to not be a moon anymore too
Ex-riot and Ex-Blizzard employees
Maybe they should stop laying people off
Yeah

unrelated note but has skyen played outerwilds yet?
13:05 her character doesn't match her design just like syndra. Am I right in assuming that?
I will not watch this because it seems like a game that i would get addicted to, and I'm irresponsible with money, but much love.
Cool!
W SUPERVIVE
Typical skyen W🎉
hey one of the devs actually explained the lore in this video btw

I'd prefer you looking at the character and especially creature/mechanical design of Horizon Zero Dawn....
But this is also a thing you can do...
ha. 2B has gone 3B
