  • In episode 2 of my Tasmanian road trip we visit the amazing village of Queenstown where I attempt to shoot some surreal nightscapes.
    This place has to be seen to be believed. It's literally a series of open cut mine sites, and it's kind of cross between ugly and beautiful.
    Check out the video and I'd love to read your comments below.

    Wow, Richard, those are awesome Panos, amazing work. When I do panos, I always do the sky first, cos it doesn't matter if its cloudy for fg, also, I don't trust british weather, and the dark doesn't last as long here. The lake is probably green because of the mineral deposits from the mining. Penryn Quarry has a green lake in snowdonia national park in Wales, and the have the world's fastest zip line going over it ( which I went on BTW), but they said its from the mineral deposits that came from mining the slate.

    Where is everyone? Such a great location, and such empty!

      There were plenty of tourists during the daytime, I had to dodge them to make the video.... deserted at night.

    Stunning results Richard! Am really enjoying your Tasmania mania, thank you. What panorama stitching software are you using nowadays? Cheers, Paul.

      Thanks heaps for watching Paul. I did this one in Photoshop but I do like Microsoft ICE as well. I also have PtGui but I don't use it much.

    Respect man! A fantastic landscape you found and your camera settings seem also to be perfect. But 60s for foreground seem to be better then 30s. Just two quest.: Don't you fear the bag hanging down the tripod could bump against the tripod leg and cause some vibrations when wind arise? And I noticed you don't use your Sony 20mm, f/1.8 G lens anymore. Any special reason for that? Thanks a lot!

      Thanks so much for watching. I don't have a bag hanging under the tripod. I use a rock bag connected to each of the legs. I do still have the Sony 20mm lens but I don't use it very much. I have the native Nikon Z 20mm which is excellent.

    Thanks for another informative and inspirational video.
    Do you use a custom white balance with your Ha modified camera?

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  Рік тому

      Thanks Chuck. Yes I set the white balance to 3300k with an added 1.5 of green tint. But having said that I still adjust it in post.

    Hi Richard, love your videos! On a side note…do you rate the outback? Thinking of getting one.
