I unplugged my external HDD and the problem went away. No issues ever since I unplugged the external. Tried it with the external back in and the issue came back again
This is SUPER annoying. It happens every single time the console is turned on. Checked a friends console and it does not happen for him. This means I cannot just sit down and play. Every single time I turn on the console with the controller I have to get up, go eject the disc, and place the disc back in to start. First World Problems, but still annoying.
@@evangelistar74 Yeah, I already replied in a comment to Rooneysmithmaster a month ago about this. :) If you move the external drive to the other USB port in the back of the console the problem will also go away. Still super annoying that on two of the 3 USB ports this problem occurs, but until they fix it at least there is a workaround.
It has to do with using an external hard drive. I have the problem since the beginning and as far as I know, it only occurs when you have an external hard drive plugged into the PS5. Unfortunately, the new update has not solved the problem.
Mine does the same thing. My ps5 copy of assassins creed valhalla says cd not supported at the time I turn the console on. I have to eject and reinsert the disc every time I play.
Had my ps5 since launch, thus started happening to me 2-3 weeks ago, not doing it every time from cold boot just every now & then, I also have hdd plugged in, only seems to happen if both hdd & game disc left in unit...Any answers from Sony on this?
I have an update based on a comment from someone on reddit. This looks to be caused by having an external hard drive plugged in. If you unplug the hard drive the problem goes away. This is still an issue regardless, as that essentially means anyone who is using PS4 games is going to have this issue. I need to take my hard drive to my friends house and test it on his PS5 to see if it is all PS5 units that have this problem with a hard drive plugged in, or only some.
@@Halaster yep deffo correct, tested mine without the external 8tb drive and low and behold the disc is authenticating as normal. Put the external drive back in and the issue comes back. @sony has to step up now.
@@Halaster just tested it without the external HDD plugged in, recognises the Disc straight away!! No issues! The moment you plug back in the HDD - The Disc is Unsupported! So looks like its a Software issue that Sony needs to fix asap.
Same shit with my Call of Duty Cold War disc when I power on the PS5!!! Someone bug the shit outta Sony to patch up this bug!!! It's no big deal since I could just eject the disc but that puts wear on the disc drive!!!
I hope so, but seeing as it is not on every console it may be a hardware problem. If a firmware fix could address the issue I expect every console would have the problem. I got a second copy of Demon's Souls as well to make sure it was not the game disc itself and it was not. It is just my console.
i resolved my issue by simply changing the usb on the back for my usb external to the opposite plug and it is resolved.....i believe the file was corrupt and thus made the ps5 look at it as a non liscenced drive when it was
Got the same issue boys. Game will install and run. Turn off the PS5 and go back to Power on? Theres that little ‘Question Mark’ Tab that says Unsupported Disc’ BUT the game which is a tab to the right is Playable so this is Definitely a Software issue. It will be patched soon, its just very frustrating at this point I understand
I thought it might be software as well, but if it was software I would expect it to happen on every console, not just a handful of them. I took my game discs over to my friends PS5 and tried and there was zero issue. There is no software difference between our two consoles. As a note as well, in my situation, the game which is a tab to the right is NOT playable. If I try to launch it, it will tell me to insert the disc. It only becomes playable once I eject the game disc, and insert it back into the console which makes the question mark go away. I just got off the phone with support and they are having me send it in for repair. So I am not going to have my console for probably a month. Just for others information, rebuilding the database will not fix the problem. In addition it actually cause MORE problems on my console. Now my updates that download for games say they are for UNKOWN. So the support call made my situation worse, and I am going to be out of a console through the entire launch window into the holiday season.
I've had the same problem but only two time, after that i made a lot of tests (really scared that could be an hardware problem) and nothing happened. I have an external drive plugged in.
Following mine does same thing miles and demon souls, if I restart the system it will boot the game normal afterward. But from power off I get same measagw
Same thing happened to me very odd and annoying of course just hope it’s patchable everything seems to take well. I figure if the drive was botched it would not load anything correctly at all

does the same thing with me!,
I dont even have any hdd and i’m still getting this error. What sould i do?

Mine does the exact same thing yes its rather annoying having to eject the disc and put it back in everytime i turn it on
Do you have an external hard drive plugged in?? My ps5 only does it when it's connected to and yes is Annoying.

Yep, a temporary solution is to plug your hard drive into the other USB port on the back of the console and the problem "should" go away.

No answers, and the problem is still there even in the Beta build.
Same here, it makes no sense for it to be a hardware issue, otherwise the disc drive wouldnt work at all.
