I don't mind the game being overpriced with the DLCs, its still an amazingly fun game where you shoot that helps my brain be happy and it's not a hundred million dollar wasting. agenda forcing, heartless cash cow game like Gollem, Rise of kong (even though it wasn't fully the developers fault) Redfall, Concord, or dustborn. This game was worth the $60 for me and I will continue playing
and with the DLC, thats a personal choice that doesn't give an advantage byeond the first 10 missions on hard.

For me the game is absolutely worth the money because I already got more hours of enterteinment out of it than most 60$ AAA games.
150 if i subtract all my menu sitting.
$60 here in burgerland, and yeah the EDF series regularly gets more hours from me than many other games at that price point. This includes Helldivers 2.
And yeah the graphics may not be technically amazing, but they tend to dump that budget into making EDF more and more ridiculous in terms of the chaos going on screen without entirely killing the engine. Still, I wouldn't complain if they dropped the price to $40 or so.
Oh, and the only DLC anyone should get for the game is the 2 mission packs for like $10 each. All of the other "bonus weapon" DLCs are cosmetic (and likely useless) equipment that you won't use past the first few missions.
EDF always ships with a frankly ridiculous amount of levels in the base game, tons of which have loads of voice acting, as well as a lot of scripting that's not always just "add a fuckload of enemies here".
If you like these types of games, it's entirely worth the cost to me.
Also the stories are *always* batshit insane, which is a plus.

If I remember correctly, the first EDF game was actually an asset flip from the developer's previous game at the time and it was on the PS2
The first EDF was also part of a line of budget games known as "Simple 2000" which were all very basic games that cost about $20.
I leave this game in the category of stupid fun. And should one actually try and follow the storyline, Autistic fun

I could play Helldivers 2, but why would I want to play the inferior game?
literally the only thing that makes them similar is that you kill bugs.
EDF is a fun series. a few quirks you should know going in: playing online has limits, you can only have so much armor and weapon, but if you play online by yourself the game will be scaled to the same level it is at for 4 people. which can be kind of fun, if you think the game is too easy. also if you decide picking up the weapon armor pickups is too much trouble, you don't need to resort to cheat engine. you can go get mods, specifically "lootmaster" and it'll just pick up everything at the end of the mission automatically. is this cheating? kind of. have i done my duty and picked up tens of thousands of boxes by hand already and cannot stomach picking up another one? absolutely.

And let be real, the plot ain't that complicated. Like Sseth said, everyone in the game eats glue, and their time travel plotline is made with that audience in mind, aka it ain't that deep.
This series, despite it numerous flaws and bs, remained popular because it is one of those games where you should shut off your brain and start collecting dopamine. Once you do, everything makes sense.
I mean you can compare it to hell divers... but helll divers doesn't have funny animals and bugs, multicoloured explosions and a destructible city that you play in on almost every level
I agree, while both of them are similar as in horde shooting game.
Those two offer very different experience, i like to think that EDF is one of those game where you turn off your brain to just engage in stupidly fun experience.
It's like watching Godzilla vs Kong, it has stupid plot, but it's entertaining.

One of the main reasons I bought EDF 6 was because Helldivers 2 is STILL not available in most of the world

they allowed the mod to stop the EOS from starting. it technically connects you if you signed in already, but otherwise removes achievements and the like. works just fine.

6 was decent. Far better than Iron rain. I felt it lacking compared to 5. It didn't have the camp and cheese of the previous games. Also I have 200 hours in EDF5 so I recognized all the copy and pasting. There is a LOT of it, I don't care if it is because of the plot, there is still so much of it. If EDF 6 is your first experience it might be a bit insane for one to take in.

imagine buying a game on Steam only to then hear that said game's pc port is terrible right afterwards
its that terrible, the only issue was EOS. modders have already got a work around for that and have since like day 4. Devs allow it.
