Honestly the earth defense lore makes more sense then Marvel at this point
What doesn't
I enjoyed the loop of EDF 6 and how surprisingly clever it felt once you realize what the gimmick is with the time travel.
It's basically like every time things "loop", that the world becomes one where the aliens compensated for their previous mistakes in the last time loop *AND the Player Character, Storm One, wasn't there to fight in the war.*
It was a bit formulaic but also interesting because it really makes you feel like, "I am HIM! I am THAT GUY! I AM THE MF YOU DON'T *EVER* WANNA FUCK WITH!!!"
I'll give an example. The first couple of missions are 3 years after the end of EDF 5. We killed the alien's leader (God) and the aliens fucked off, leaving behind the frogs and giant bugs. There's only 10% of the world's population left and it feels post-apocalyptic, (with the frogs looking like Mad Max characters) BUT there's a sense that we will recover.
Then the giant ringship comes down, sucks up a bunch of alien ships and the sky turns purple.
The immediate next mission shows a world where things are suddenly WAY shittier, the NPC's are talking like this is "One of the LAST holdouts for HUMANITY" and you're fighting masses of crackheaded robots that are "Horrifying killing machines" which were THE reason why humanity basically lost the war.
Then you damage the ringship and are sent back in time. You go through a few missions from EDF 5 that FEEL the same, but then the robots show up. HOWEVER, because YOU are there, the robots are destroyed and it shows the rest of the EDF that the robots aren't "unstoppable".
You reach the end of that war, there's another 3 year timeskip, and now you're back in "the future", but THIS time, it's one where the robots are regarded as being just like the monsters and giant bugs. NOT as an unstoppable nightmare, but just another part of the alien's invasion forces to be put down.
Then the aliens send their flying c-mstain ships through the ring ship again, the sky turns purple, and the next enemy type appears and is hyped up as the next Anti-Christ.
It just shows a surprising amount of thought and logic went into the game, and I really appreciate it when game devs do that.
How could you watch this before Sseth’s review of EDF 5? You really should go watch that one as well. It’s also fucking wild.
Whoops lol

He mentioned at the start that in EDF 5 you fight god so I guess so.
As someone who plays the entire Earth Defense Force for the sake of squishing the giant ants and beating my arachnophobia incarnates with a shotgun and Air Tortoise, i didn't know there's lore.
Man, i remember the Barga mission. It's so dang satisfying when i can finally bitch slap Godzilla in the face
The game isn’t actually that awful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a low quality production, but not everything has to be AAA complexity. It’s like a game you’d play at an arcade as a kid. I played through it once and it was a fun time.
Fair enough
So what this is saying is that your disappearance last year was just a prelude for...
The Proftrof 2
Begins now
Yeah wonder when we get to the killing god part
I think Sseth done EDF 5 too.
Yeah i need to check that out
Honestly if you have friend EDF is one hell of a game that you can play for week and not get bored.
EDF 4 is peak fun and so is 5. Because its fun trying not to blow yourself and your friend up with Air Raider. Or save your Air Raider friend four the tenth time because he's blown himself up or got sniped out the air.
EDF is just an insane series about the weirdest people ever fighting an alien invasion that are so powerful there should be no reason they don’t win, but the EDF has bottomless morale.
You should absolutely check it out if you haven’t. It’s an amazing time with friends. Grinding is really just if you want to take on Inferno.
Honestly plot is really clever and i can see the charm of the series even if its scuffed. Duel to see who gets paradox is a really cool concept
Nice, another Sseth reaction.
It's a bit sad seeing the devs/publisher fumble EDF 6 when EDF 5 was good at almost every aspect it presented. It's janky good, but very enjoyable still.
Dang, now i'm scared to play 6. I enjoy 5 a lot
@@vkarvanzer4243 I mean, 6 is still "good", just not as good as 5. If you do plan on playing it, I hope you have a great time.
Sidenote, unrelated to previous comment though. If you play EDF 5, or watch Sseth's video on it, you're gonna laugh your ASS off regarding the lines from the NPC characters when those giant frog enemies are introduced.🤣 It's so great.
Also, 2 things regarding those frogs, one is KINDA lore based the other is a helpful tip.
The frogs aren't "the alien invaders". They're basically like "conscripts" being used BY the aliens as frontline chaff/cannon-fodder. Which makes sense because while the aliens are from Mars FAR in the future, the frog monsters are from Earth FAR in the future. They're basically what frogs evolved into after living on a polluted world where humanity went extinct.🤷♂
Anyway, the tip I have for if you actually play the game is that you can blow the arms and legs off of the frogs, and the aliens when THEY come down from their ships, and it makes it MUCH easier to fight them because if they lose a leg, they stop moving around, and if you shoot off their gun arm, they can't shoot you anymore. (at least until those limbs regenerate)
Fair warning. The frogs have a "health pool" that gets reduced DIRECTLY with headshots and bodyshots, and fractionally with limb damage. So you COULD, theoretically, kill a frog enemy just by blowing it's arms and legs off over and over again. The aliens themselves, not so much, because they have INFINITELY regenerating arms and legs with separate HP to the rest of their body. If you want to kill them, you gotta destroy the armor covering their heads and bodies and shoot them THERE.
The reason they use epic service is because the dev want money also those yakuza footage are modded gameplay (kiwami 2 and gaiden)
By the way the grind for EDF is alway the same since the start not to mention it take + 300 hour to get 100 % on most game
new video nice
i did play EDF 4.2, 5 and IronRain 3 times each all difficultly full completion.. lol
btw have you seen the EDF 5 review one?
Not yet but will soon !
earth defense force is fun
Which one ? lol
1-5
@@Proftrof Played mostly 5.5 but I hear good things about all of them
EDF is basically an overpriced and worse alternative to Deep Rock Galactic.
Not really considering their nothing alike aside from 4 player co-op.
DRG isnt a horde shooter with the scale like serious sams , people that dont edf wouldnt even know about this
