    Easiest way to do an oil change on these cars without a lift. Step 1, with vehicle on turn wheel left to lock (then shut off), step 2, put pan on ground near oil filters location with cardboard underneath (oil always leaks out filter onto the sub frame and then drips anywhere it wants). Step 3 there is an access hole on the passenger side to access the filter in the wheel well. with some practice you will be able to remove the filter and minimize spilling it bringing it through the hole. I sit on the ground and stick my arm through the access hole and can install/remove the filter by feel. It's taken me a bit of practice to figure this out, but it's my preferred method.

      Is it normal that when I took the filter off there was no oil in it to drip at all

    • @danielkapp9468
      @danielkapp9468 11 місяців тому

      @@ljaieljaium, the oil filter right? If no oil was in it then you have a major problem. The oil pump sends pressurized oil through the filter from the pan. The way the filter mounts it's possible it drained back into the block but unlikely. as it would need to sit for a long time to not have anything leak out. Did you drain any oil out of the pan before this? Was it really low?

    A tip for all you young backyard mechanics out there..
    When the oil filter is too tight, punch a screwdriver through it and use that to turn it. Makes quick work out of it, but a little more messy.

    The vtec solenoid are very common to leak out oil. Usually from the gasket. Make sure to get a good quality one and not cheap or youll get a leak all over again

    I just replaced my valve cover gaskets, oil sensor unit and solenoid gasket hoping that will stop the oil drip on a 2003. Next will be the crankshaft seal if its still leaking.

      I hade to replace the whole assembly, solenoid, gasket and guard. Now my power steering line is leaking. But I refuse to buy a new car in this economy, keep fixing and improving. If it ever comes down to it, I'll buy a crate motor.

    how do I determine if this is the problem. Initially the sensor on that vtec part was the issue and i repalced it and fixed it. Lasted 3 weeks with no oil loss, now I am losing about 1 quart every 3 weeks and when i open the hood it smells like oil is burning up on the heat of thw engine

      Buy an ATG E Out socket.

      it might have just been burning oil. mines burns alot of oil, and ive noticed that alot of crvs on the road 2002-2006 blow blue smoke. mine does as well. i think it was just poor design but it's still a very strong engine. im at 150k miles and bought it at 120k

      Burning and leaking oil is two different things!
      I don’t say C-RV engines don’t burn oil, but personally I’ve never seen C-RV blowing blue smoke on the road!
      K-24 is considered if not the best ,one of the best 4 cylinder engine ever built!
      I have a second gen C-RV on 200K miles, and doesn’t lose a drop of oil!
      My daughter’s is 350K miles, and my son in law say he doesn’t ad oil between oil changes!
      Otherwise shit (leaks) happen!

      That is a gasket from the oil distributor, it commonly leaks. There's also a reflector tray to prevent oil from squirting directly onto the exhaust manifold.
