Yes! You can change someone’s pattern with your personal preferences. You just can’t turn around and sell their pattern with your changes. That is where you would run into copyright infringement. Keep up the great work with your creativity!
I believe samplers did start out as little stitches of ideas for other works but later developed into pieces people (often young girls) did when they were learning how to stitch.
Wow! Hearing all you had to go through to change the swan in your HAED blew me away. I got the impression as well that people used projects they weren't sure of what to do with as project bag art. Welcome to Flosstube, I look forward to seeing your next videos
Oh finally! I wish I could see those. Really curious how other people turn them into bags. 💙 I love mine too, also so tactile. How is the cross stitch holding up long term in use?
Welcome to flosstube. It was a great video. It was interesting how you converted the pattern and yes once you have brought the pattern it is all yours to do any changes to it for your preference. You just can’t sell it. 😂. I look forward to seeing your next update. I’m making a bag out of a piece of cross stitch. It is a piece I was extremely happy with. And you can only hang up so many pieces. Hugs 🤗 Tania.
Yes so true, although I don't have the problem of no wall space 😅. I'm glad there is other people turning their finishes into bags, I really love mine, curious to see how it will hold up though
I really enjoyed your video and looking forward to your next one! You are an amazing stitcher, and I think your table runner is gorgeous and will look beautiful however you decide to finish it!
Welcome to Flosstube! Love all your project choices. I have also recently started my first full coverage piece and am using a Q-Snap, but typically stitch in hand and I am not loving it but was concerned about the tension. I love seeing an example of one of those done in hand...I may have to switch! For your table runner, if you have any old sheets lying around that you don't need and match the colors, you could use one of those as a backing fabric. I would highly recommend using a stabilizer or batting for the whole thing as well to give it shape, but totally up to you!
Thank you 💙 I definitely saw a few youtubers stitch full coverage in hand and at least they didn't mention tensioning issues. I guess I am not sure how holding such a large piece of fabric in hand will feel like once I am more in the centre of it
I loved your podcast. Loved your work. Your runner is going to be gorgeous. I agreed with your take on samplers- especially since most were done by little girls 😅. I looked up Mexican samplers. The authentic ones were mostly bands of stitches. Likely they were practice for garments. I do love samplers, and plan on stitching a few. I like the modern ones.
Karo...thanks for the lovely visit...I love cross stitch and knitting both...awesome podcast (podcasts are done by intelligent people)...wishing you the best ❤❤
Welcome to Flosstube! Love the Witchy Stitcher and awesome to see the carousel stitched up! One note is I would test the 2 over 1 on 28 count for your Loon. Sometimes 2 over 1 on 28 count can get very bulky and I would recommend 1 over 1 on 28. But test it out and see what you like better! Just an idea! Happy stitching!
Welcome to flosstube from a fellow german! :) I totally feel the issue of not finding dmcs in stores and if you do they are quite pricey, it's why i switched to the chinese cxc quite early on. Love your idea to change the full coverage pattern and the amount of thought and work you put into it, I'm definetely looking forward to see how it turnes out all stitched! From the short time i've been in the crossstitch world i've heard a lot that it's quite common to change small things about patterns to fit more into what you personally like, even if it's only colors and such, so i would not worry about it. :)
Aw, thanks and hallo zurück 🙂 yeah, I heard about the cxc, do you have a good source to order from, is that offered on Etsy, or is there German retailers for that floss?
With the Gingham I wonder if you could back it with iron on interfacing to make it the same thickness as the linen, I would definitely sew the front together and then stitch the borders, then back it so it looks all pretty on the back. The Merry Christmas in German looks amazing. Really enjoyed the chattiness of your video. I love multi-crafter videos. Show us all the things❤
Thank you. Yes, I do love the table runner too, currently a little stumped how to continue with the elements, but I be made the decision to just keep it as one panel to simplify it ☺️. I am relieved my ramblings did not scare away everybody 😅
Welcome to Floss Tube. I enjoyed your chattiness, I’m from the South and we talk a lot. WOW, the effort you put in to recharting was educational for me. I did have some problems following the different program's but the results were amazing. A suggestion: stitch the Loon first then fill in the background. Yes, the sewing method is faster. Most of us back in the “80’s were taught the stick and stab method. Keep up with the good work. Happy Stitching from South Carolina. Ann
Hey Ann, aww so lovely to read your comment and I don't blame you for not following on all the programs (I probably elaborated way too much on it😅 but I'm just a geek, when it comes to that stuff🙈). With the Loon, yes I do plan to stitch my way from the corner to the edge of the Loon and then stitch the Loon or at least make it a focus and carry on with the background after. I think that way I can stitch background if I need something mindless and also get to see the focal point early on. We're you taught in school? I can't remember ever doing cross stitch in school and we did have a class where we did a bunch of these different things like weaving and building things from wood...but yeah the whole sewing method just feels the most natural to me and in the end the method that vibes with you is probably going to be the faster one for you no matter which method you do... I send greetings to the south 💙
it was nice to find a fellow knitter also switched to cross stitching. I was supposed to knitting on my first colourwork project this year and I need to learn who to do a Tubular cast off,
Welcome to the cross stitching world. I’m sure it’s pretty daunting getting used to a whole new crafty vocabulary especially in a non native language. I’m surprised DMC isn’t readily available locally in Germany given that it’s a French company!
Ha, I didn't know DMC was french. Anchor is Scottish I just looked up. There is definitely also DMC products available but the floss in local stores is anchor, as far as my limited experience goes. Online Shops based in Germany carry both though. And probably in bigger cities you will have more options too.
Stitch some muslin to the gingham then attach it to the linen. sew first and then pot the stitched border on. that's just what I would do and I am a Quilter
Would you stitch the muslin as an extension or as a backing to the gingham? I guess seeing something neutral from the back would be fine 🤔, and then it acts as a stabilizer. That's actually great! Thanks that's a great tip 💙 assuming you mean the muslin as a backing...
Great video! I'm also a knitter and cross stitcher. :) I think what you've done with the Heaven and Earth Design pattern is totally fine from a copyright standpoint!
Yeah, go Multi-crafters!! Thanks for confirming 💙 it seems to be the common opinion, that is good to know and I can happily continue breaking my brain over this project 😅 haha
I’m still listening 🙋🏼♀️. I enjoyed your shares and liked how you braided your floss. Your story on down sizing your HAED, wow, I’m impressed. I hope it worked for you. 🙏🏻 🤗 You’re wondering if it’s okay to change the designers design by omitting or adding to their design? I think that most designers won’t be offended by that. And many stitchers do make their own changes and conversions. I do it in every craft I’ve been into and never even thought about it being a problem, to be honest. - Happy Stitching!
Thanks for still watching 😅 boy it was a rambly one 🙈 yes, I change a lot in my knitting too (often to my detriment and I wish I wouldn't have 😅) and with changing colors I wouldn't be too worried, but I guess with me digitizing it and putting it through a bunch of softwares...I just wasn't sure and not every craft community is the same about every issue, and since I am so new in the stitches world I felt compelled to at least ask what people think.
my pattern keeper is on my phone, which is very comfortable to have it with me at all times. although it only works in android devices now so if you have an iPhone it will probably not work (they are working on an ios version)
Hey, thank you very much! Yes it is super fun to stitch and as far as I remember I had no issues uploading it to pattern keeper. I think I had to input the colour manually but that's not to bad. I bought the pattern directly from the website of the witchy stitcher. Hope that helps!
It's called Diamond Art Creator. It's free. It's a German homepage of the same name, but it says the program runs in three languages including English...I have one for cross stitch as well but can't remember the name and for some reason I could not use it with my Loon picture...gave me errors, but that also has a few more floss options. The diamond painting one only has DMC.
Interesting interpretation of other floss tubers on ‘waste project’. You must be watching some obscure stitchers. Sorry you are wrong on a lot of things in regards to project bags. Then word you are looking for is vinyl….. pronounced ‘Vine al’ . Maybe look for more UA-camrs before you make some assumptions. Just a friendly tip and suggestion. The other word you were trying to find was conversion (DMC to ANCHOR) .
that really didn't sound very friendly. I've been stitching and watching flosstube for years and she has probably seen the same flosstubers turning finishes they don't want on their walls or that they don't love the look of into into project bags.
I enjoyed your rambling conversation. And I change every pattern. I get whether it’s a color or putting in a motif that I want because it means something to me. I subscribed I liked I’m not a knitter, but I’m not opposed to watching podcast, about knitting.. I wish I was more techy or I would do a floss tube. I don’t have a lot of projects have more than three, but not many more than that. I take my Crosstitch and I make wall hangings out of them. I make quilts out of them or should I say with them. I’ve made one project bag with my Crosstitch. It was actually a remake because I didn’t like what I made the Crosstitch out of first so I took it apart made it a project bag . One if my favorite ones I have. See you next time
Yes! You can change someone’s pattern with your personal preferences. You just can’t turn around and sell their pattern with your changes. That is where you would run into copyright infringement. Keep up the great work with your creativity!
Yes, thank you. I was hoping this is the case. But you never know 😅 thanks for the feedback 💙
I believe samplers did start out as little stitches of ideas for other works but later developed into pieces people (often young girls) did when they were learning how to stitch.
Yes, I did do some reading about it too, I guess I wasn't too far off 😅
Wow! Hearing all you had to go through to change the swan in your HAED blew me away. I got the impression as well that people used projects they weren't sure of what to do with as project bag art. Welcome to Flosstube, I look forward to seeing your next videos
Thank you, that is so nice to hear💙
Welcome to flosstube. This Canadian 🍁is anxious to see the loon come to life.
Haha, me too 💙 thank you
I use my best cross stitches on my project bags!! I love seeing them a lot that way.
Oh finally! I wish I could see those. Really curious how other people turn them into bags. 💙 I love mine too, also so tactile. How is the cross stitch holding up long term in use?
Amazing first flosstube!!!! I love your name. And i love all your WIPS❤
Aww, thank you. New episode coming today!!! Yay.
Yes, I like working from right to left as well. Goes so much easier.
Right? It's just stuff I'm learning as I'm going but it's so fun to find ways of doing that is right for oneself
LOVE the Haunted Carousel! Great vibrant colors
Right? Love those colours too. The witchy stitcher knows what she's doing 🙃 thank you for being here 💙
Welcome to Flosstube! Love your projects and can't wait to see how your Loon turns out!
Thank you 💙 this community is sooo nice and welcoming. I think it might actually work out☺️ fingers crossed

Aww thank you. I'm a little stuck on the table runner but will probably get into that next episode. Thank you for being here 💙
As far as I know, it is ok to make patterns your own.....you are very brave and adventuresome.
You are very kind. 💙

Yes, the modern ones are really cool. I'll probably be stitching one sooner or later 😂
Karo...thanks for the lovely visit...I love cross stitch and knitting both...awesome podcast (podcasts are done by intelligent people)...wishing you the best ❤❤
Thank you for the lovely comment 🥰
Welcome to flosstube. I think you'll be OK so long as you don't sell the pattern with changes. Good luck
Thank you for the reply 💙 yes many seem to think so too. And I'm not planning on reselling it, so im pretty sure now, I'm good with my nerdy project 😅
Welcome to Flosstube! Love the Witchy Stitcher and awesome to see the carousel stitched up! One note is I would test the 2 over 1 on 28 count for your Loon. So true on the test. I did misspoke and meant 1 over 1 but it's probably still good to test it out a bit before getting married to the initial idea
Welcome to the cross stitch Flosstube world 🪡🧵🥰
Thank you🥰

I would suggest stitching the loon first cause it will be easier to adjust the background. But i look forward to seeing how it turns out.
Yes, that's what im doing and im really happy with how it's going so far 🙃 thank you for watching and the lovely comment
it was nice to find a fellow knitter also switched to cross stitching. I was supposed to knitting on my first colourwork project this year and I need to learn who to do a Tubular cast off,
Oh, I love color work. And the tubular cast one and cast offs. They really are worth the extra effort in my opinion 🙂
Just subscribed. Your stitching is beautiful❤️. Love your video.
Thank you, that is so lovely of you to say 💙

Hello....your english is amazing. Your fabric is Zweigart because it has an orange stripe on the border.
Thank you💙

Yeah, I have it on my phone too. Currently messing around with the cross stitch saga app, to track progress better.
I absolutely love the haunted carousel can I ask if you had a problem downloading it into pattern keeper and how did you buy it from thanks so much
Hey, thank you very much! Yes it is super fun to stitch and as far as I remember I had no issues uploading it to pattern keeper. I think I had to input the colour manually but that's not to bad. I bought the pattern directly from the website of the witchy stitcher. Hope that helps!
What software did you use to pixelate the loon picture?
It's called Diamond Art Creator. It's free. Haha, yes. I am indeed German 🇩🇪 thank you so much 💙 glad you liked it
@@KaroKirschPodcast yay, me too! I do videos too and they’re in German 😊

that really didn't sound very friendly. I've been stitching and watching flosstube for years and she has probably seen the same flosstubers turning finishes they don't want on their walls or that they don't love the look of into into project bags.
I'd actually be very interested to see other UA-camrs examples of stitching turned project bag, so if you know of some please do share.

Maybe you're trying to be funny? Not sure...hard to tell.
