Josh Flanagan So he's GLAD he's back as Deckard? Since when? Harrison had problems up the wazoo with making the first film in 82. He and Sean Young argued like cats and dogs with razor blade claws on the set. Why should we believe him now? Must be his age making him conveniently forget!
1. Sean Young hasn't returned for this.
2. Apparently Ford and original director Ridley Scott did not get along as Ford was frustrated that Scott focused on the look of the film over the performances of the actors. Denis Villeneuve is directing this installment.
3. The 30 year gap and retrospective acclaim the original film has gotten has probably made him realise he was part of something special and would like to return to it.

That's because every actor who has had a very popular first character have a hard time being different from that character. Just like Daniel Radcliffe, Harrison Ford is full of people asking him to be "that popular guy". They would like people to know that they could play other roles and that they have range. But personally I am slightly pissed off that he wanted Han to be killed RotJ.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears... in.... rain. Time to die.

This is something I didn't know I wanted but now can't live without. The director is on visual point in all a his films, this just looks like a Blade Runner setting

I haven't looked forward to a movie this much in a decade. I'm seeing this day 1 for the respect I have for PKD's ideas and Villeneuve's vision. Also for Ridley Scott, who's 1982 film I grew up watching. One of the few things that inspired me to dream beyond the Tannhäuser Gate. I'm going into it with an inviting open mind and a few drinks.

Ridley Scott is one of my all time favorite directors. Denis Villeneuve is my favorite contemporary director. Ryan Gsoling is one of my favorite actors, with a track record of being in mostly good movies. Roger Deakins is a God. And I love the original Blade Runner. Yep, looking forward to this.

You need to watch the first one because it's great... but I think you can enjoy the new one just for the visuals that I have seen.

The original score was epic, it beautifully matched with the incredible visuals.

Just saw it earlier today, was not disappointed. Its a slow burner for sure, you have a lot of time to chew on whats happening/ whats going to happen.
It builds on the ideas in the original film. Do replicants have souls? What separates humans from sentient machines created by humans? etc.
The visuals were fucking awesome and spot on when compared to the original film as well as the sound.
Like Episode 7 of Star Wars it has a good balance of old and new, Highly recommend seeing it.

I didn't know Roger Deakins was the cinematographer for this one. Now I know I will see it in a theater
in my opinion,and the original is one of my fave movies of all time,Fords character was not a superhero,or a Josey Wales,and That,is what gave the original so great,and watchable.

Holy moly, did anyone else notice the drive reference with the coin drop in the beginning? sounds just like kavinsky - nightcall! kudos to the makers and a fun little easteregg for Ryan.

He's good. I don't know about brilliant. This could overwhelm him since most of the projects he's done have had a much smaller budget and they've been visually sparing.
visually sparing? Sicario has a lot of gorgeous scenes, so does arrival. And while his visuals aren't as good as his ability to build tension, nobody is as good as him at building tension - except maybe steve mcqueen III

I hope it is worth the wait and the reason a sequel took so long was that Ridley was making sure the story is as good as the first one.....

Jesus Christ when it switches from the new movie to the old one the special effect switch is seamless, it just speaks volumes about the care and work that went into the original's special effects, that shot closing in on the pyramid could pass for something real. Wish practical effects made a return, with the help of some good CGI you could create environments that are impossible to differentiate from reality.

Ridley alone is a master of cinematography , now with Roger and this director it's going to look gorgeous. probably shot on Arri , most things shot in camera, probably consistent visual themes....but we should all be worried about the writing
