On a side note regards delivered parcel notification yoh know that's wrong. I had tnat with evri. I was in all day waiting, then get a txt to say parcel attempt was made and card left, with a picture of my door frame, only the door frame no parcel. Went to door no card no parcel. Absolute nightmare trying g to sort it out, I know ask every purchase I make who delivers, if evri I go elsa where. I have been told since it depends on you local delivery centre and how its run but what till you try to get help on the main national call centre!!!!

Nice look javelin I have optima not mid or turbo just reg optima one thing I hate about is the shock it leak from bottom because of screw most of RC usually have at top but other than it still awesome

Hi :) personally every colour combo look better than the orange to me. Keith at RC icons did a really nice yellow and black version. The Schumacher shocks looks awesome much better than the red kit ones. Get well soon chap :)
Thanks Andy :). The Schumacher shocks are a good fit on the Javelin and with a few adjustments you can get them perfect for this chassis. Well worth doing if you upgraded a Top Cat or Cougar to big bore Schumacher shocks as you can pass them down to the Javelin. That's how I ended up with a set. Ps Such a shame to hear about Force Raceway having to move out and close down :(

I couldn't find a Javelin, so I'm sitting here building a 2016 Optima kit with all of the parts to make it a Javelin (including the white cage that I was luckily able to find) while watching your videos. Thank you sir!
Have fun, it’s a nice build and well done for sticking with it and making it work, so you could end up with the buggy you wanted.
This was my first real RC back in 1986 or 87. Christmas present. I built it on my own. Had the belt upgrade instead of chain included. I later put a Tony Neisinger 14 turn on it and blue the rear diff apart. Its still in my basement with another chassis I got to repair it.
same here. after i destroyed cage and spoiler i took the optima body and threw it on it. sadly short after that he finally met his maker. watching this makes me miss him:)))
That part of the cage at the front of the cockpit that you said didn’t line up? The original 1986 Javelin was exactly the same lol. That was my first hobby grade RC back in ‘86, and that fitment always annoyed me.

I find it quite amusing that back in the day I swopped my CAT XLS shocks for the gold Optima Mid turbo ones, (shame I can't attach a picture) and you have gone the other way from Kyosho to Schumacher. 😉
Hey Gav, your javelin looks good. I was sceptical about the black wheels but it works on yours. I found a stand up front shock tower to improve the looks as well as the handling of the optima, give them a look.

I'm with you on everything but the black rims, they just disappear into the tyre.

Great build. Love the black rims with it. If the tyre writing is fine ....use a small watch makers screwdriver to dip in the paint and ' scratch' it on👍
I always thought it’d be cool to mix orange and black or orange and white or even black and yellow, or the turquoise and white.. I do like your all black n white combo.. get to feeling better. I had it the first 3 weeks of December. The cold that keeps hanging on.

The good news is you can mix it up and do loads of things with the options available. Yep this cold thats going around is a long one for sure. I am still under the weather and its been a good week and a bit now :(

Import tax, exchange rate and handling make that expensive if you are in the UK. You are better off keeping an eye out for them in the UK. Obviously, if you are still in the EU, well it's a great price. Bloody BREXIT!
@@RCKickschannel it works in both directions, I avoid buying in UK because of absurd clearance tax.
I have some cool Kyosho parts hanging on the wall in my studio. I have never had a Kyosho 😔 but I came across some odds and ends. I hung them on the wall because they look cool there...LOL.

Speaking of orange, which color did you end up painting your Alpine Renault A110 in? French blue or orange? I got an MST 1:10 Renault A110 and am trying to decide which color I should use.
Edit: A completely separate topic. I believe the first RC can that was wrapped around by a cage type body was Kyosho Land Jump (1:8 GP Buggy). Not the first 4WD RC car though, as that title goes to Todoroki 4wd (I forgot the exact name).

For me, `buggys` need bigger wheels at the rear than at the front.

Upside down fill shocks are a pain and always end up leaking. The Top Cat shocks aren’t what you call state of the art, but a generation newer than the Javelin.
Your video inspired me to get one too. Can you tell me how to lower the suspension? Super new to this. Is that just remove the screw/ring inside the suspension?
Just move the shock collars to the top of the damper and it will sit much lower. This is great for shelf and flat road driving but I would set it back from driving on the rough stuff. The good news is, it only takes a second to adjust them all back again.

@@RCKickschannel can I ask how I straighten my RC wheels. Mine current wheels is on a angle. It was modified by my friend in the past. Understand it is better performance on track but I believe it cause my car not running straight. I would like to bring it back to normal.

With ref to the gold front part of the turbo , I have the gold part and even thou it’s a Kyosho part it is still a different gold , tbh the side bars match the chassis more than the front part

Check out the 'Mechanic After Hours' Javelin build on UA-cam, it's inspirational stuff.... very similar to what you have done here.
He was what me decide to get one. Took months for the white cage to come back in stock though.
