@@ReviewsforNerds I almost bought a new phone the other day for charging issues. While I was in the store they asked to look at it; turns out I had lint stuck in the charging port.

Does nothing for me. Cleaned it out and I still get nothing. The power cord works on the switch and charges it when it's plugged directly into the switch but does nothing when plugged into the dock and the switch is on the dock. The light just flashes
Oooff. If anyone is watching this and you find a bent pin in your charging port, coming from a switch tech. I highly recommend you find your nearest repair shop and have a new charging port put in. If that pins shorts to much by moving it WILL burn out your M92 charge IC and your repair will cost a lot more.
My switch charges fine with being plugged in directly. Soon as I try to plug in the dock, it blinks rapidly and will not connect. Is it a dock problem at that point?
Hey, Ik this video is over a year old and it's unlikely you're gonna see this. But I was wonder if you know what may be up with mine. The switch itself charges with every other charger I've used so ik it's the not the switch. The dock however doesn't charge or connect to the switch. And whenever I put the charger into the dock to use it, the dock's little green light just flashes with and without the switch. I haven't seen anything else on this so any help will be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like the switch dock could be bad or in need of a reset. I'd check the port on the dock to make sure it's clean and then look online for reset instructions. If it is just an issue with the dock being bad, you can readily find them on eBay.
My dock charges my switch, and only blinks once when I plug it in, and once when I dock the switch. Other than that nothing happens. It doesn't connect to the tv and my switch doesn't recognize it's docked it only charges. Any ideas?
Check dock port, check switch port, if you have a friend who has a switch, try your switch on their dock. Could be a bad dock and those can be had on eBay.
The fact that I’ve been trying to figure this out for almost a year now blows my mind. I had the same issue and it worked ! My Nintendo is working now !
What if the dock is charging, the green light is on, but still not working on the tv. I know the cords are all good because my husband and I each have a dock but only one dock doesn’t work with the tv but charges. So we have tried different cords, both the originals that came with them, different hdmi cables, also both Nintendo, and only one dock connects to tv. But both charge. I have used compressed air as well.
Hey. Sounds to me like the switch dock could be bad. If you can use the other dock with the same cords and both switches, there could be something inside the malfunctioning dock board that is bad. It could also be something wrong with the HDMI port on the switch. Either way my suggestion would be to buy used off eBay. I'm not skilled in taking apart the docks so I wouldn't know what to look for.
My switch stopped workin about a year or so ago and when i put it on dock just the quick flashing green light happens i tried looking at the pins with my phone zoomed all the way in but still cant really see anything what can i use to see it better
When ever i plug the adapter to an outlet the green light on the dock blinks once and never turns on again and the dock doesn't work on my tv any tips?
I would see about a replacement dock off ebay. If you are getting ZERO signal out from the dock to the TV or in from the Switch then it could be a dead dock. if you have a friend with a dock you can try ALL of your cables with their dock and vice versa to see if anything changes.
I found the bent pin, it was out and to the side. I got it back above where it’s supposed to go but it just keeps popping back out. I don’t know how to get it to stay

I own a first generation Switch. I did not get a dock as it was a hand me down. I ordered a Used Nintendo Switch Dock on Amazon and it won’t stay on longer than 30 seconds (I timed this). I tried blowing air on my switch’s port, blowing air on the dock port, and the power ac adapter port and nothing has worked thus far. I checked pins- nothing was out of shape. I’m feeling hopeless ☹️
If they are just bent you can use anything small enough to get in there and carefully bend them back. Plastic or wood would be the best bet. If the charging port is too far gone you can replace it but it requires some pretty strong soldering skills.
Uh, so I noticed that every time I plug in the adapter to the dock, the light starts blinking. I also noticed that my switch DOES charge out of the dock with just the charger...Any tips?
if you have watched the video and checked the charging port for bent pins, cleaned the ports on the dock and the switch (use something plastic or wood). then I would say try another dock.
I would start looking at the power supply. Does it charge the switch directly? If so, sounds like you might need a new dock. If not, start looking for a power supply
My sons switch wont charge on dock but will charge on regular chargers, ive tried it on 3 different switch docs that we have and all i get is the green light of doom..help
Unfortunately I'm not sure what to tell you. It sounds like something is messed up inside the switch. If you checked the pins on the USB c port and don't see anything wrong there could be an issue with the chip that switches between charging and video out. That is way past my abilities. My suggestion would be to take it somewhere to have it checked. Thank you for watching.

I'd definitely wait longer. There are internals that are still wet. Unplug it from power and HDMI for sure. If you can, hit the dock with compressed air and let it sit. You can also unscrew the cover for the electronics inside the dock and clean that out.
Check the port on the switch for corrosion. You could have a small amount on one or two of the pins. Also check the dock itself. Test with someone else's dock to eliminate any issues with your switch.

I would check the dock and/or use another dock. I am no expert in this whatsoever, but if you are charging on the OEM charger, but not getting display out, could be something to do with the dock.
Thanks for the guidance, same issue with mine, though when I tried to straighten it I broke the pin off. Works perfectly now though, I reckon I lucked out and the pin was mirrored on the connector.
sounds like it. I am very glad yours is up and running. I have had some professional advise since this video aired. They informed me that bending the pins, even with something non conducting, can short pins out which can burn up internal charging components in the switch making it essentially dead. Thankfully this has not happened to either of us. I may have to make a follow-up video talking about this. I tried to replace a couple of usb-c ports on switches and it is my recommendation that you leave things like that to pros. there are too many things that can go wrong and if you aren't skilled at soldering you can kill the switch.
it is possible to have the Switch repaired. Depending on your location there are shops who could easily repair for you. I tried soldering a USB-C connector and ended up frying 3 Switches.
Luz verde piscando é um indicador da proteção anti curto, no meu caso era o modulo do cartão microSd que estava mal encaixado, eu abri para limpar e não havia recolocado direito. My grandpa buyed me a doc for me bc my other one was flashing green. I did everything, so I try the one that he got me and my switch isn’t connecting to my dock. Can you help me out? Ty
did the second dock come with a new power cord? if not, that would be the next thing to try. If that doesn't solve it, there could be something broken/malfunctioning internally in the switch itself. the USB-c port could need replacing, but that is a task for a professional.
If you are talking about the lights on the controller, that means it needs to be charged. plugging the switch directly into its charger should fix that. for the issue of not connecting to tv, clean charging port and check for bent pins on charger and do the same for the dock. if you have an alternate dock to try swap it out, same with charger.
I would see if you know someone with another dock you can test your switch with. It sounds like your switch dock might be dead. You could also reverse the usb-c charger in the dock. I know that sounds weird but sometimes that fixes things.
That stinks. Could be a TON of things. Check cables, swap docks with a friend, etc. Could be a dead USB port which is replaceable but not for the faint of heart.
Plugged in 2 different power adapters straight into the Switch. Switch charges. Plugged some 3rd party HDMI to USB C adapter. Works. Displays on TV and charges. Bought a new Switch dock board. Still flashing green light. Does not display on TV.
That is interesting. There are firmware updates for the switch and the dock itself but I lucked out on this one. I'd rock the adaptor you found. Do you have a link? Id love to check it out

@@simo5917 it sounds like there could be something internal wrong with the USB c port on the switch. There are several contact points on the USB c port that connect to the motherboard and if one of the contact points lifted it could be an issue. Double check the pins and make sure they are all clean and straight. If not you might need to take it to a repair shop. Best of luck to you.

If it charges and works outside the dock and doesn't play in either existing or new dock there might be something wrong with the pins inside the USB c port. If nothing is visually obvious you might take it somewhere. The USB c port can be replaces but it's not a fun repair.
My go to is to check the pins of the charge port under magnification. If all looks good check the same on the dock. Use any USB c charger to see if the switch charges at all
I'm dealing with this! Even my best phone cord won't help. Its battery died while at 48%. I kept restarting it. 😅 It worked on the dock for one day, then the flashing lights started. Horror story! So many hours on that console

If checking the pins on both the switch and the dock don't help, try a different charging cable, and rest your switch on a friend's dock. If the issue follows the switch it could be something in the switch connector like a bent pin or dirt.

I would check the dock and/or use another dock. I am no expert in this whatsoever, but if you are charging on the OEM charger, but not getting display out, could be something to do with the dock.
thanks so much! my dock finally worked, glad i came across your vid😄didn't realise the bent pin was the problem
Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad I could help!
didnt work tried for the last 4 hrs and nothing works, the switch doesnt even charge just black screen
Sounds like a deeper issue unfortunately.
So you know how when you charge a nintendo right well I think I broke inside of and in never gonna work
it is possible to have the Switch repaired. Depending on your location there are shops who could easily repair for you. I tried soldering a USB-C connector and ended up frying 3 Switches.
thanks! i unplugged and replugged my dock and the lights stopped blinking as well as the switch is charging again
awesome! Im glad your Switch is back up and running. Thank you for watching!
@@ReviewsforNerds nope, and ok Ty
Just fixed my sons switch using a sewing needle to bend the pin back into place. Thank you so much!
That is awesome news! I am glad my video helped. Thank you for watching and happy holidays!
how to fix the bent pin
In my case I was able to bend the pin back in place. I was very careful and patient and eventually got it back in place.
Ok so here is my problem, the top green light on the red controller isn’t turning on, and it doesn’t connect to the tv
If you are talking about the lights on the controller, that means it needs to be charged. plugging the switch directly into its charger should fix that. for the issue of not connecting to tv, clean charging port and check for bent pins on charger and do the same for the dock. if you have an alternate dock to try swap it out, same with charger.
@@ReviewsforNerds ok thanks 👍
My dock light is always on and it wont charge and cant connect to the monitor,i connected everything everywhere and it still buggy
I would see if you know someone with another dock you can test your switch with. It sounds like your switch dock might be dead. You could also reverse the usb-c charger in the dock. I know that sounds weird but sometimes that fixes things.
I just held my power button for around 20-40 seconds and it powered right up
Thank you for sharing this. There are some software based resets that can help.
@@ReviewsforNerds yeah I think I just got lucky but thanks for the video
Mine who still doesn’t work😢
That stinks.
Id love to check it out
You're amazing for this, that was what was wrong with mine!
I am very glad this video helped you!
Oh hello salmence
i have the yellow light of death, nobody talks about it and i don't knoe how to fix
I've never heard of that one. What other symptoms are you expecting? Are you seeing anything else on the screen?
@@ReviewsforNerds the only thing that happens is that it doesn't connect to the screen, i have tried all methods and only now i realized that everyone else has a green light and i don't.
It works fine tho, as i said it's only that i can't see nothing on the screen when connected to the dock, tried with another dock same thing, tried with another switch and it worked fine.
@@ReviewsforNerds i already cleaned so much times the usb-c port, cause i had this problem back in 2017 too, but i didn't care much cause i couldn't connect it to the tv eitherway for some other reason, but now i have a pc and so a monitor i would connect it o play, but i can for this problem
my switch has a rapid green blinking light in the dock, but it charges in the dock, i got another new dock and the same problem happens
If it charges and works outside the dock and doesn't play in either existing or new dock there might be something wrong with the pins inside the USB c port. If nothing is visually obvious you might take it somewhere. The USB c port can be replaces but it's not a fun repair.
Green light is on, nothing on tv
I am having this same problem with my Switch I do not have a extra switch though
My go to is to check the pins of the charge port under magnification. If all looks good check the same on the dock. Use any USB c charger to see if the switch charges at all
@@ReviewsforNerds I don't have anything that does magnification
@@ReviewsforNerds does it need to be a specific USB c or will any do?
@@ReviewsforNerds I still have had no luck at fixing the problem
@@ReviewsforNerds everything looks good in the charge port
Saved me money because that's exactly what the issue was
That is awesome to hear! Thank you for watching and glad I could help.
I didn't have a bent pin, but I did go classic NES na blew in the connectors..... and now it's working. 🙄 . We learn from the past!
That is awesome!
I'm dealing with this! Even my best phone cord won't help. Its battery died while at 48%. I kept restarting it. 😅 It worked on the dock for one day, then the flashing lights started. Horror story! So many hours on that console
hopefully there is a fix. Could be the battery itself or it could be something to do with charge circuitry.
@@ReviewsforNerds hi hi! After experimenting I found it's the actual dock. Something to do with the charge port on the dock? Thank you for being so awesome!
I just fixed my son's Switch, thank you!!!
Awesome! I'm glad my video helped! Feel free to share it out to anyone you know with Switch Issues
My dock light won’t even flash. Meaning I HAVE to pay money for a stupid accessory for a stupid console that is essentially just a cash grab.
Well I guess you always have the option to sell the working components.
tysm I finally sprung it back to life
That's awesome! I am very happy I could help. If you're interested in modding the joycons, I have a video about that as well.
Thanks so much mate. I had the exact problem. Took all of 2 seconds to fix. I wish I had have found you video first.🤣😂
I'm glad it helped in the end. This was a video that I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to make, but it has helped a ton of people and had the most engagement of any of my videos. That you for watching!
Hello, can someone help me my docking station does not recognize the Nintendo switch and flashes green all the time. Thank you in advance, best regards
If checking the pins on both the switch and the dock don't help, try a different charging cable, and rest your switch on a friend's dock. If the issue follows the switch it could be something in the switch connector like a bent pin or dirt.
I just pressed power button volume up and down for 30 secs, when I used the Dock, worked
Awesome tip! Thank you for sharing.
just did this to my switch and she turned on!! dock is charging now too, even without the charging light appearing on the dock. THANK YOU !!
My port was very dirty I looked in it with a microscope and a flashlight to find out it was filthy so I put some alcohol on a pillow sheet and then I took paper business card and cut it down to the right size sprayed the pillow sheet with alcohol and then pushed it into the port it cleaned it and now mine don't do that no more but it was flashing for a little while but I fixed it
That's awesome. One BIG mistake I made in this video is using metal on the charge port. I could have done some major damage to the circuitry. Good call using a business card.
Thank you I fixed my brother switch. He’s very happy.
That's awesome! I am so glad it helped.
tysm you saved my switch’s life 🙏🏼
Glad I could help!
I used a different charger and it worked and now I'm so happy 😊
That's great!
Shit definitely worked wow lmaooo and I ain’t one just to get you likes or views .i ain’t even see the loose pin I just rubbed a needle in it all around for about 10 seconds threw it back on the dock and it work you the best man thanks
Thank you for watching! I am glad my video helped!
Thank you so much this helped me a lot!
You're welcome. Very glad to hear it.
3:22 Thank You 🙏 That idea worked for me 😅
Great! I am so glad to hear that. I am amazed that a video I almost didn't publish has helped so many.
It didn’t work
Sorry to hear that. I would look at diagnosing if the issue is with the dock or switch. swap out chargers and borrow a dock if needed. if it is indeed something wrong with the port I would take it to a pro.
God. I never thought id See someone so godly.🗿
Thank you you’ve saved my boy!
I'm glad I was able to help. This is one of those videos I wasn't even sure I was going to make but has ended up being one of my most helpful

Odd how electronics of any kind malfunction when millions are built en masse.
