    Never in my life understood the process of PASSIVE TRANSPORT. I read my book over 50 times and still didn't understand . once i found this video online i took notes and organize it. WOW ITS AMAZING I UNDERSTOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME CELL MEMBRANE PASSIVE TRANSPORT... who ever post these video is an angel

    @nigandmad A polar molecule is not neccessarily charged but has atleast a polar head group so X-OH is polar.

    That's thing. I think that the cell's energetic reactions result in heat being released in the cell. This heat aids in the Brownian motion. So the cell is helping in the movement of Brownian motion indirectly

    @nigandmad Because it's the opposite charge of the net charge inside the cell, so it's pushing it away. Like trying to push the negative sides of a battery together it just doesn't work.

    @greatpacificmedia would you have the active transport bit on this??? please?????

  • @chromium421
    @chromium421 10 років тому

    You are correct. Diffusion depends entirely on kinetic energy. I wouldn't say it's exclusively "the cell's energy" however. All atoms (that are not at absolute zero temperature) posses kinetic energy. In liquids and gases these atoms are constantly zooming around super fast! The rate of simple diffusion is directly influenced by the temperature of the molecules.

    anyone can xplain wht a polar molecule is? and y does the plasma membrane not allow polar molecules, ions, and hydrophillic molecules to diffuse through it\?

    There are many factors that affect the rate that which molecules move across the membrane, temp being one of them. However it could be 60 degrees on each side and the molecules have an equal conc. gradient, thus no movement across the membrane, but yes the molecules are still moving independently due to the temperature (as do all molecules that move dependent on temperature, e.g. boiling water). The important factor to understand here though is that the cell is not providing energy the energy.

  • @rickiex
    @rickiex 14 років тому

    yea, active transport has its name because it uses "ATP" to to get ions or etc in or out. correct me if im wrong, but thats what i learnt in biology :)

    we are truly wonderfully and fearfully made; whoever believes in evolution must reason that it took billions (or trillions) of years for these kinds of processes to take place

    I hate how they say 'passive transport' requires no energy from the cell. I really doubt that. I doubt that the cell's heat energy has nothing to do with the diffusion of the molecules. I think that the heat of the cell allows the chemicals to move, and thus undergo diffusion. i don't think diffusion would have occurred in a cell if the cell did not provide heat energy.

  • @95cokecan

    facilitated diffusion doesn't use ATP whereas active transport does..
