Good to see her back on the road! And to see you enjoying the drive so much - that is what it's all about. Yes, an old car and doesn't have the safety features we have come to expect but by crikey what fun you have. The nay-sayers can all sod off :-)
The window may have been missing but I've never heard TWC run so sweet! Great to see you unpacking your gifts - you were grinning like a kid at Christmas. After all the madness that we've had thrown at us over the past few months, it's great to see people being happy again. 👍
I spotted a beige coloured Reliant Fox driving through Coleraine, Northern Ireland yesterday and immediately thought of Hubnut! Something I never thought I would see on the road!
Those oat and raisin biscuits are absolutely divine. My local shop used to sell them, before it got taken over by a chain, and I bought them a great deal. They're pretty healthy too, though don't eat too many in one go as they can have an interesting effect on your bodily functions due to the oats... Great to see TWC back on the road and in full hoon mode, now with added air conditioning...
You're never happier than when you're driving TWC. Beaming from ear to ear and your tone of voice spells out how proud you are having saved it and put it into service. Got to be my favourite of your running fleet, but that might change if you get the Yugo up and running?
Once upon a time I used to discover just what the most unreliable parts of different cars were by visiting the automotive repair manual section of the local library and breeze through the various models. They always had certain sections where the pages were smothered with grease and dirty fingerprints indicating that's what was being fixed most often when the manual was borrowed. Usually with English cars it was electrical, driveline and brakes, with Citroen the entire book was smothered except the interior section and they even had (from memory) an oil resistant green plastic cover,.. Ford Cortina's, Capri's and Escort's were filthy around the carburettor, engine, gearbox, brakes, steering and often had a smell of gear oil in them.. It was like a secret window tallying those common problems the cash strapped owner (can't afford to buy manual...) would need to take on to keep their car on the road..
Ian, that was so much fun. I remember what an improvement was made following the trip to her place of birth. Amazing they still had NOS parts. And then the mailbox, it looked like your birthday where you open presents in front of the family and have to smile nicely at the jumper aunty Jennifer made for you but you can't stand.
Nice to see inva car out again lovely Wales gods gift to mankind ,enjoy the tea Ian just having a triangle of doom cuppa worthy addition to my truck and catching up on latest clips . STAY SAFE hope all your family ok keep up the inspiring work my friend ,Neil
Twc is my all time fave Ian..i think a few bob invested her way and she will become the star of the show! I mentioned before..i drove new ones just off a railway wagon many years ago in rail sidings. "This car is amazing".
you are looking very happy Ian and it is great to see TWC back on the road. I have been doing something similar today around the Herefordshire hills only in my 1974 Leyland Atlantean, smiles a go-go!
Nice to see a picture of how Foxanne could have looked when she was new. Looks like she originally wore Bedford HA van wheels but not sure. I love old brochures and seeing what our older cars looked like back then.
Im still amazed that my introduction to Hubnut was UA-cam’s algorithm thinking Id like Invacars..... I do now! So I guess the algorithm was correct. I think the appeal of Hubnut is that its nice to see somebody doing what I do and have done for years with many dozens (hundreds?) of cars and vans. My current fleet here in France is as follows; Omega MV6, Zafira mk1 1.8 auto, Vito combi, Toyota Hiace d4d, Landcruiser Colorado D4D, Lexus RX300, Volvo V70 2.4 Petrol Auto and a 70’s International Tractor which has broken down in a neighbours field and was free.......if I can get around to unseizing everything and the Landcruiser can tow it out.
Its great to see TWK back, she is the car that got me hooked on hubnutting. It’s also good fun to have Miss Hubnut as an anonymous person, just like Top Gears Stig but without a driving licence 😉 . Maybe get her a white glove?
You're brave in Twc. I think that I'm doing well to hit 55mph in my Subaru between Trefeglwys and Llani :D I'm impressed by how smoothly Twc & you took the sharp left corner before the descent into Llani. Twc looks like so much fun! Just bought a 2CV mug from you. The friend I bought it for loves it. Tank you.
TWC runs so well, out of all your cars shes the one i like the most and then Elly, there's something about getting up a hill and hoping it stops going down, its the car you can have a adventure in and be proud when you've done it,you wont get that in a new BMW...Take care 😊
When I first heard "highlight reel for TWC" I thought "NOOOOOOO!! Surely he's not...?!" And that notion has been put firmly to bed, thank goodness! Spotting the dangly screenwash pump, surely TWC deserves an upgrade to an electric screenwash pump? It'd be a trifling job to do, and you could easily get a push-button to fit in the hole currently there. It's always a pleasure to watch TWC content; last night I watched the episodes prior to her journey to The Festival Of The Unexceptional. A great way to end lunchtime :)
Barry’s tea is up there with Yorkshire tea, in my opinion, you can buy hear in Bedfordshire but it can be hard to come by, I don’t think you will be disappointed. At least little TWC got a good run out next up is Myrtle...
Great to see TWC going for a drive. It’s a shame the Delica has to go but it just needs too much work. At least you have a manual for the future owner of the Delica. Hopefully you’ll find a replacement for the Delica at some point and in the meantime TWC and the rest of the fleet can get a little TLC.
I'd suggest a weekly maintenance routine with TWC (by weekly, I mean before the first trip out of the week) - to lube all steering and braking linkages. For ease of use and longevity of mechanisms.
Back in the early 80s in Barry I remember acres of these AC invacars decomposing in a old railway siding along with loads of old steam trains and three wheeled scammel lorries and old 2nd world war six wheel drive petrol scammel tank transporters awaiting the executioner .My dad said none where for sale .and as a six year old I couldn't get my head round it .!
ah another video with twc, yes quite the adventures, trip to london, trip to the NEC, errr break down were she ate her belt, trip back to were she was made, i think a trip to the mirco car meet in far off places, what fun this lil car has had, even if it is slightly broken,
This really made me laugh!! So funny to hear your comments while bombing along in TWC - Only thing funnier would be to see Monty Python's John Cleese in the driving seat! (you are a brave man).
Barry's Tea is pretty good stuff. I sometimes get it for a change from my usual PG Tips. There are several different blends of Barrys. I only found it 'cos someone with a canal boat brewed me a cup - I expected it to be rubbish and it wasn't!
Gold Blend is the most popular variety in Ireland. There's a big rivalry between Barry's and Lyons tea in Ireland - Lyons is owned by Unilever these days (bags and packaging looks very similar to PG Tips), whereas Barry's is still family-owned and made just down the road from me :)
@@AaronSmart.online Bottoms up! This reminds me that Lyons did something astonishing in the 1950s when it just owned a chain of cafes but it is such a 'hubnut' story, perhaps he should tell it some day !
Nice to join TWC on a sortie. Sounding good too. And watching from a short break in mid Wales which is nice too ... and inspired but the HubNut camouflage Dyane hoon a few years ago now 👍
Hope you like the tea! I forgot how expensive the tax was on the 406, you can see why any cars over 2 litres were saleproof in Ireland on the old system (pre-2008 cars), and why "commercial" conversions on Land Cruisers, Pajeros etc. are so common (for cheaper tax). I only pay €170 a year now for my current car (PHEV so lowest tax band on new CO2 rates)
The minute I saw the tea I knew it had to be from Cork, says the blowin to Youghal, Co Cork from Essex via Mayo. It's not bad either Ian. Sure beats PG Tips (other brands available) in my opinion.
Thats what it was at one time, I recall going in mini and 50 was all you wanted (edit/ I meant got not wanted I dont know why I wrote that). My friend talks about his mum "doing 50 in the mini". In those days you knew you were doing it. 70 was pretty much flat out for a lot of cars........ or there wasn't much left.
I always remember my Dad telling me about the time he got booked for not coming to a complete stop at a “Stop” sign. I think that was back in the sixties. When I was over in Melbourne back in 2003 my mate (who lives there) told me to make sure I signal for every manoeuvre even if it didn’t seem necessary as the cops are all to ready to give you a ticket if they see you. Meeting TWC, (and HubNut), at the NEC a couple of years ago, was the highlight of the show for me. Many thanks TWC.
