As parents, it's unimaginable to even think about the loss of child.
And if only girls are unsafe, then why did Swapnadeep Kundu, an 18-year-old first-year undergraduate student at Jadavpur University, die last year? This is not about a girl or a boy; it's about the safety of our children's future.
As parents, we know the worry that grips us when our daughter falls ill. Now, imagine the parents of the doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College, who was virtually murdered by some demons -how will they live without their innocent child? We, as so-called educated people, watch the news, see social media debates, and talk about this tragedy. But what about those in power in this state? What are they doing? We can only express sympathy, but those who have the actual power to deliver justice for that doctor and her family only offer superficial condolences. They could show true empathy and act, but instead, they seem more interested in protecting their positions and hiding the truth.
People will post about this tragedy, but in a few days, they will forget. They will go back to voting for this same government. Why are people still asleep? We need to protect our state from individuals like these. I'm not supporting any political party; I speak as a common person who believes West Bengal needs change. When people become too comfortable in their positions of power, they start to believe they are untouchable. They think they can do anything, even protect demons.
As a parent, I can only appeal to everyone: don't let these demons roam freely among our children. We don't want to hear about more inhumane acts like this. Let's wake up and not forget this matter so easily.
