In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
In the history of the show, the winning entry will just be a foot note .
I can just hear Greg and the audience groaning, and Alex chuckling quietly behind his clipboard.

I feel like since this is one of the few tasks that appear in multiple series, we need to have one big mega compilation of contestants buying gifts for the Taskmaster. Maybe on like, Greg Davies birthday so we can see how far they went from tattoos to actual lordships all in one video
Was it an actual lordship though?

"That must be my name! Why else would I have it tattooed on my foot?"

Won’t need a coverup. The foot gets a lot of wear and tear, so the tattoo is likely to fade and even completely disappear in a few years.

I understand it’s technically out of context, but I’m slightly disappointed they edited out the comment Lord Greg made about being able to see any of those bastard pregnant women behind him with Frank’s sunglasses.
I dont get it withe the joke. Can you explain it
Alfi Rahman so in a task earlier in this episode, they had this device that would track their location and would draw a line as they walked. They had to use that to draw the most interesting picture by walking. During Roisin’s attempt, she drew a weird shape that sorta looked like a pregnant lady, and reasoned that Greg would put it first otherwise he’d look like he hates pregnant women. Greg of course sarcastically went on about how much he hates pregnant women and put roisin’s drawing in last. He made a joke about it when he got the sunglasses, but they cut it because it wasn’t the best out of context
Jayk1406 oh ok, thank you.

In some of the later series they have non-comedian celebs as well, from time to time.

@@erikanovakova97 it took me that long because they are very not that funny, unless you are maybe a middle aged woman.

No idea what this show is but it's so hilarious and off kilter
It is basically British comedians being given unusual and strange "tasks". The fun part is that the "rules" of the task are limited to whatever is on the notecard given to them, so it then comes down to comedians figuring out ways to bend the rules in their favor. It has just enough structure to give a goal, but leaves plenty of room for the "contestants" to express their own creativity. This combined with a cast of actually funny people makes it a gold mine. Look up the James Acaster episodes, he's fking great on this show.
@Kathleen Henson They did one with Reggie Watts in U.S. It's what turned me on to this show.
Watch it. It's absolutely hilarious. I'm addicted.

"OHHH uh oh" Greg is so brilliant
He's going to keep it for sure. It's fun, a great story to tell. The spot is so well hidden who cares, and it was an easy win to steal the show! (brute force attempt though)
A daft thing to do in my book but people have gotten worse tattoos for dumber reasons so whatever, I guess.
@@chaos.corner It depends on how meaningful you like your tattoos to be. I find that small, dumb tattoos are hard to actually regret, because they stay positive memories. This tattoo will never not be a funny story to tell at parties. That said, if you're covered in them, I imagine they get less and less funny lol
I really hope they bring this task back for every season, it's genuinely a sweet and entertaining bit.
No one has ever committed to a bit harder than Josh Widdicombe.
To be fair, printed names are really easy to cover up. Thousands of tattoo artists that do nothing but cover up names :)
Why would he want to cover up this name? 😮
On the other hand, just remove it. The technology is so advanced that removing a small tattoo takes about 5-10 minutes and after a week there is no trace left that you ever had a tattoo.
JSmellerM that’s really not how tattoo removals work
But maybe he didn't want any tattoo at all, but did it anyway.

This absolutely was the best prize task of the series. I wish the recent series had contestants trying this hard for the initial task. It's the lateral approach that makes this show so fantastic, and the more literal and linear everyone plays it, the less exciting it is for me personally.
I still love the show, but it seems like they have tried to narrow the parameters to stop rule loopholes and stifle shenanigans but in my opinion that is where Greg's capriciousness shines. If it's not entertaining he can just shut it down arbitrarily, no need to explicitly limit the contestants in the task.
Part of that is the contestants willingness to commit to the ridiculous nature of the show, so I don't place all the blame on the production side, but I wish they would encourage the absurd a touch more.
FWIW this was the first season of taskmaster so literally nobody knew what to expect and instructions were probably minimal.
I expect after a while the production started gently suggesting that contestants don't go too far after series 3 or 4 (especially as Al Moneybag Murrey solved everything through large bills) -- though of course some series do the exact opposite, like series 11 famously utter garbage prizes on prize tasks. Pretty sure there have been references to that during the later seasons with some contestants noting they had suggested really weird things and the production had asked them to change it up.
I don't think this is a prize task. Just one they brought back for the first few series.
He is now part of the Greg army, welcome to the family :)
That's a baller move, getting a tattoo.

"Urh, Greg is a bit smelly today."
My name's Emma and a girl across the street (that doesn't like me) had a dog that was called Emma. She was named by someone else, before the across-the-street-neighbour took her in.
Either way, I've noticed that the way she speaks about her, changes whenever we have a conflict.
If I see her in the staircase and I greet her and walk off again, she'll yell; 'Emma come back here!!! NOW! LISTEN TO ME, EMMA!" and then I turn around and she innocently looks at me and says; 'I spoke to the dog. She tried to walk off. You didn't think I talked to you, did you?'
And I'll turn back around and she'll whisper; 'Stupid bitch.'
And I'll turn back around and she'll say; 'Yes..the dog again.'
To a mututal friend she says; 'Oh, did I mention Emma shat in the garden this morning?'
She'll wait for a while untill the horrified look on the face of the mutual friend has completed and then adds; 'The dog, I mean ofcourse."
So far, I've heard; "Emma's a stupid bitch, Emma's loud and annoying, Emma never listens, Emma is a spoiled brat, Emma thinks she's great but she isn't and Emma's acting like a cunt."
So I'm thought about getting a snail with her name and make up some nice insults.
But then I figured that'd be sad for the snail.
So I'll be the bigger person and just complain online about it all.
I feel bad for Emma.

I wish we had this gem of a show in the US.
They tried to bring it to the US. It failed miserably. The show didn't translate here because in the UK, the comedy comes from languishing in everything going wrong for the contestants, them not expecting to win and/or not giving a shit whether they win or not, but in the US, the contestants they chose were taking the show and themselves too seriously and trying too hard to win. There was no humor in that. Plus, the dynamic between the US Taskmaster (Reggie Watts), Alex Horne, and the contestants just wasn't there. They needed a taskmaster who will take the premise of the show seriously but also has a penchant for childish mischief and relishes in the idiotic misfortune of the contestants just as much as s/he delights when things go well for them: someone like Greg Proops, Jon Stewart, Zach Galifianakis or maybe even Colin Quinn. The dynamic between the Taskmaster and Alex Horne was also lost in the US version. In the US, Watts wasn't able to achieve the same type of authority over Little Alex Horne, because it seemed like Alex was the only one who knew what was going on and how to drive the show forward.
@@desd111 Interesting. I always thought that if they did bring the show to the US(before finding out that they had actually tried to) that they would get a replacement for both the taskmaster AND Alex, so it's surprising to hear that Alex was in the American version of the show. After starting to become a fan of the show I became attached to the comedy between Alex and Greg, so I thought that the best way to bring the show to America(and probably the only way I would watch it) is if they simply aired the original broadcast on American tv. Perhaps they would have needed a week or so delay between when it airs in UK compared to in America, but I guess they never came up with this idea. Or perhaps they never aired the UK versions of the show do to different tv guidelines, or technical aspects. I will have to look into it more myself. Thank you for your reply, I was surprised to hear this.
This challenge should be present in every season XDDD

For those that think that the foot tattoo is permanent. Here's a snippet of google: "Foot tattoos can lose ink over time, because the foot is used so regularly. Small tattoos can start looking like bruises or smudges if they're placed on parts of the foot you use, such as the inside of your foot. ... Beware, the ink will fade in the face of excess sun exposure."
