    Just finished watching. Great job! Very informative! Prevot & marathon should be paying you.

      Thanks HB, but I'm an independent and don't accept payments for my videos. Yeah, that old school Journalism thing!

    I noticed on the Valvoline containing sitting on the table, at about time stamp 13:53, there appears to be a handgrip on the underside rear of the container. When your turned the container around for pouring, I wondered if you were then able to make use of the grip. If so then apparently the manufacturer would consider that the correct position to pour from.
    What great timing. Just yesterday I was filling my mower from a gas can that has the air intact in the spout. The container has always been a pain to get the gas to flow evenly because of the air intake. I'll try turning it around like you did.

      I'll check out the underside when I get back to the coach. I can say it's more of a ridge than a grip and with the weight of the jug I'm not sure if that will provide enough leverage.

    as far as the def I think the solution is a inexpensive siphon pump like used to fill a kerosene heater. all you need is a slightly higher point to set or hang the container on, like a step ladder. no lifting and holding.

    Given the shelf life issue do you drain the the DEF tank if you store the rig for three or four months?

    • @joshuawilliams3831
      @joshuawilliams3831 3 роки тому

      If you’re storing it in a facility, or somewhere that stays room temperature above 70 degree year around the fluid is good for up to 2 years.

      Oh I just seen this was asked 3 years ago, hopefully you have since used that tank of DEF. lol if you have any further information on this, I am new to having to use this. Any tips would be great full! Thanks in advance

    I read that you shouldn't mix DEF with water, what's the worst case scenario should someone mix the two together?

    Andy you're the best!.. but I got to wonder, if the guy. (and he is the prevot Guru if you will) tells you a few times he's not a fan of carrying the DEF on the coach and he explained why. so why do you keep on saying yeah but I carry it on the coach?, why not just listen and follow his advice?

    • @TheGadgetGuru

      Good Question HB! Prior to the interview, it was my habit to carry a couple of jugs of DEF on the coach and to fill as needed. Yes, I learned something in this video as well, so I'll need to change my ways. Also, since my coach has the DEF filler neck on the passenger side, I cannot fill DEF at the filler pumps, so I do have to fill from the jugs. Like other Newbies, I'm learning as I go along!

      @Mdydaf55 7 років тому +1

      you're correct. Marathon should modify your coach and run another line from the other side so that you can fill Def at the pumps. if I was Marathon coach I would offer that as a free modification to any marathon owner who needs it

    Excellent as always Andy! I have a question on a different topic. I noticed in the diesel / DEF fill door you have a warning, pure diesel or 5% bio only. At many of the truck stops pure, number 2 diesel is getting very difficult to find. In fact as I travel the USA most are now 20% biodiesel. How does that affect my engine and fuel system? Are there any additives that might help with this situation? Thanks again for you very informative and helpful videos! Safe travels my friend!!

      Thanks Larry, that's an excellent question and one that I don't have the answer. Possibly someone can chime-in on this.

    Dude, you need to listen to the “professionals” you have on your own show. He said numerous times not to carry DEF on your coach yet you argued several times to carry it. Then he perfectly described the danger of leaving the paper on top of the container, and you impatiently and rather sloppily tore the paper off leaving shreds of it all over the top of the container. That shit clogs your system. I couldn’t watch any more after that....

    Best thing to do is buy pre emissions diesels, these newer engine don't hold up for crap and bleed money like it's nothing. After all you are buying urea/PISS to make the gov and tree huggers feel better while jets pollute more than any of us ever will or could....
    Then this host goes on to say he is a noob and wants to argue with the pro LOL... No wonder the short dude needs such a tall chair to sit in, he has a complex.
    LOL the pro tells him that paper ruins and glogges up the def, a min or 2 later little dude wants to show how hard it is to lift the jug leaves a bunch of paper on it while he screws everything up. What kind of guru is this guy?

    I hope in the near future Def gets dropped, i won't buy any newer diesel that has to use it.

      He says it like the industry came up with the idea to reduce knocking. Far from the truth. Its government mandated emissions control and it really does nothing to improve emissions. Its just an expensive pain in the ass for diesel drivers. Costs a fortune to fix or replace when it inevitably fails.

    • @rdththth
      @rdththth 6 років тому +5

      He didn't say "knocking", he said "NOx", short for nitrogen oxides, a pollutant. DEF is made of 32.5% urea and 67.5% purified water. When injected into the hot exhaust stream, the water evaporates, and the urea thermally decomposes to form ammonia and isocyanic acid. The isocyanic acid hydrolyses to carbon dioxide and ammonia. From this point, ammonia, in the presence of oxygen and a catalyst, will reduce nitrogen oxides. The federal emission requirement is no more than 2.5 grams of NOx per brake horsepower per hour. Most of the NOx gasses in the exhaust stream are converted into a blend of five parts nitrogen, eight parts water vapor, and four parts carbon dioxide, all harmless gasses.

      @@MYCHANNELWITHMYSTUFF AMEN, the soultion is simple, buy older more reliable engines that go way more miles between rebuilds and cost less to rebuild than what it costs to fix the Fd up def system once it does crap out on you... Come one the gov has these people literally pissing money away on useless urea.
