Federal Corvette - Mining Build Guide - Elite Dangerous Odyssey

- Greetings Commanders,
The 'Major Miner' is the first of my 'Subscriber Builds' to be featured.
Built by Subscriber CMDR Jasper Lit. :)
In Jasper's words,
"The goal was to mine Platinum as fast as possible, without a map or messing with Pirates in a Has Res. I chose the Vette because the internals really match up well to fill 256 Cargo, and this for me is the perfect amount of time to spend mining in one sitting."
Also from Jasper,
"Pre-engineered 1D's are super important to this build, as running five class 2's and two normal class 1's was a little too demanding on PD, I was only able to run the 7 lasers after getting the pre-engineered mining lasers in a CG reward."
See below quoted comments from Jasper on how to use the ship effectively -
"I was messing around with the Prospectors and if you are used to mining with two Prospectors they work great for that as well, and its much easier than four. Just shoot the 1st one 'A' like normal, and start pulling 'B' trigger a little before you get lined up on the next asteroid, works great, I think I like it better."
"After learning to get super close to the asteroid I was still having issues that were slowing things down, mainly fragments spawning off of different lasers at different times, so after trying to figure it out I seen in a reddit post about how fragments would switch to a laser that had went of target and then back onto the asteroid, the poster was intentionally going off target and then back to make frags spawn where he wanted them. I just took it a step further by putting the bottom laser on sperate trigger than the rest. This actually worked out because I was already switching between the two fire groups to be able to use the two prospector controllers."
How to unlock the Modified Mining Lasers.
I went to the Technology Broker in 21 ERIDANI and headed to the Mega Ship called 'The House Ascendant'. But before you head out there, you will need to have the materials below.
Note - The below amount will unlock just one Modified Mining Laser. Make sure you double up on the materials below and take a ship that can carry the Osmium and both mining lasers.
20 - Arsenic
24 - Rhenium
28 - Phosphorus
16 - Osmium (Cargo space required).
Note - Osmium cannot be purchased and must be Mined for! I acquired mine from both laser and sub-surface mining in a Painite Hotspot in DELKAR - 7th Planet in the system.
Tip - A Pulse Wave Scanner may be helpful to find the right Asteroids.

mining in a corvette? im in! o7
Woah! Cool build! 😎
Nice build. I'll give it a go 👍
I do love the Vett.
like most who covet the ship, I found myself chasing one for PVE combat. But, once I had one. I found out quickly it makes for an amazing miner, and cargo hauler. And found myself saving for a second. With it, I also found the chief complaint (it's poor jump range) was easily mitigated with full engineering the FSD and a size 5 booster.
I love seeing it used outside of combat builds.
Haha Thanks Daz!
If anyone has any questions let me know 🙂

@@jasperlit1345 Many thanks 😎
Is it true that if you don't use it, you lose it?
@@JoshuaTarvin HAHA Yes, and you have to move it to prove it!
I GUESS I'll buy another Corvette and meme build it...
The only mining I've ever done was in a Corvette. It's just ideal for it. Lotsa internal space, great maneauvrability for the size, and some nice pew-pew against pirates. The jump range is poor, that's the only thing.
Also excellent for passanger missions. I do 160 ppl and I still have room for a class 7 shield and a class 3 fuel scoop.
