Even just driving it is a dead set miracle!! As you drive and mini differences in the power output for both engines and different rolling resistances from front to rear ect means the gearboxes are never in sync and im surprised it doesn't drag the rear wheels or forcibly push the front wheels out of speed sync causing damage to the clutches and tyre's 🤔 its definitely something i want to inspect front to back to take notes 😆 and i wanna drive to to feel if its in fact dragging or pushing everything instead of being fulid
@@michaellegg9381 except they get synced by them being connected through the wheels and the amount of difference in speed doesn't hurt anything since aslong as both cluths are engaged at the same time the wheels can sync the difference in gearbox speed that should be minimal since both are accelerating the car at the same time and it still being a single chassis
@@pleck7059 yeah possibly my Subaru binds the rear wheels and that's 1 gearbox out of sync because of uneven clutches between the two driveshafts because of a 1 inch tyre size miss match the shop did.. they used 2 different types of tyres and after a few weeks I started binding. This system would be very susceptible to similar issues especially uneven tyre ware I'd imagine
@@michaellegg9381 Engines can run at different speeds. I'm not sure if this is an important part in considering this. I dont think the transmissions are connected with a drive. So the rear engine could be in 3rd gear at 2.5k rpm and the front engine could be in 3rd gear at 2.6k rpm.

I believe he means “together” as in tandem. To be honest though, the concept itself is not difficult, nor is this new. There was a video in early 2000s of a Hyundai Tiburon done the same way. As long as everything is identical down to the specs for both engines and trans, it’s just a matter of configuring the rear bracket to engage the transmission but backwards. The only difficult part is having enough time and disposable income to accomplish it

There is a twin engine VW Golf in drag racing that is set up very similar. He does his burnout on the front wheels first, backs up and then does a rear wheel burnout. After that he locks his two shifters together giving him four wheel drive. It's a real engineering marvel. I'm not a VW enthusiast by any means but it is truly impressive.
And also a Fiat 128 "Bimotor" ("bi-engine") with 2 200hp Fiat SOHC engines (bored and stroked to 1.9L), with dual Weber IDA at the front and DCOE at the rear. 12.03s in the 1/4 mile in 1985. There's a bit more info if you google testdelayer fiat 128 bimotor. It's an old website, and it was from an even older magazine. It's in Spanish, but i think it should translate good-enough to understand.

One of my uncles did this back in the 70s or 80s. With the chevy that had a motor in the trunk making it notorious for catching fire in the event of a crash. Only he had put 2 built 454 big blocks down in that car. You want to talk about an ungodly fast machine that would drink gas like it was cripplingly dehydrated... from what dad said, it was now a 2 seater. The whole back seat was taken out and replaced with a fuel cell.

Overall nightmare since you need to keep both engines in exact same power, or each axle pull differently causing difference in how it behaves. Sure two 500hp engines might be more durable than one 1000hp engine, but weight is double and it comes with all the negatives.

Biggest problem with 2 separate engines is when 1 tire loses traction its engine revs up, so you have to let off the gas for both engines to get traction back

I highly recommend 4 drivers to drive each wheel and call it, Every-Wheel Drive or simply EWD
