After the first battle against Sigma, I think that punching his forehead cristal with the W on caused the virus to enter into Sigma's system, modifing the virus with Sigma's DNA, making Sigma, the new carrier and spreader (as we saw in X5). In the end, the maverick virus was called Sigma Virus

@Zakattacks Not quite, the X series was supposed to end at X5, but the canon was supposed to end with the original draft of Z1, which had Original X being the knight templar and killed by Zero as opposed to Copy-X.
Ive been a Megafan for a very long time now, and Zero has always been my badass hero. I have yet to see a character in any game, show series, or anything of the like who has ever given me quite as much chills up and down my entire body as this absolutely awe-inspiring character. A friend of mine originally thought Zero was a girl because of the hair. My exact response was "Hun, would you mind stepping back and standing still? I want to practice ALL of Zeros techniques in the series on you."
