Gluing Down My Custom Seat Covers in My Saturn Sky

- The bottom part of the custom seat covers in my Saturn Sky would move around a bit when getting in and out. So I decided to try gluing the bottom cover down with a fabric adhesive to keep that from happening.
This video also shows you how to remove your driver's side power seat and how to take the seat cushion apart.

Where did you get your seat covers from? somebody on line? I'm just leary of ordering fearing they gonna fit like a loose bag.....I really like that red & black... colors looks better than the original equipment. I've had my 07 sky 2 years now and just love driving it...its my therapy..I'm a 70 yr old youngster.

Hi, Mike. Love your videos; very helpful and well-presented. I recently purchased the same seat covers for my '08 Sky Redline, and have to say "fit poorly" is an understatement, especially the seat back. The new cover is as far down as it can go, yet still is about an inch shy of conforming to the creases in the foam padding. Also, the cover's width is so tight that the color portion stretches so much the fabric won't lay flat. (Note: I had to remove the original leather cover just to get the new one on.)
My question: Did you experience something similar? And, if so, did you have a solution? I love the look, but the awful fit has my OCD screaming. Thanks for any suggestions, and thanks again for the wonderful videos.

I am confident that I can take mine apart now thanks to this video. The red and black is a nice color contrast, but the original leather appears to be a much higher quality than the vinyl looking cover. I think I will try to redo my seat as close to original quality as possible. Thanks Mike

It was Scotch Super 77 multi purpose adhesive. I think I got it a Michaels or Joanne Fabrics.

Do you disconnect your battery before unclipping the seat wiring to keep the computer from throwing a code?
Yes. Disconnect the negative on your battery.

Mike Martin Found you. Man, it looks fantastic. So sporty, so streamlined. I like the red addition when the top is down due to the seat covers, and the other way when the top is on. What to do.... I choose the red line, because the car looks best with the top down.

Trump Messiah Yeah. I'm liking the extra red stripe more and more. And you're right. Top down is all that matters. I'll have a video up soon of installing that one....but not the black one unfortunately.
And yes, I have super powers when it comes to working a wrench...lol.

An idea for future videos: maybe consider getting a headband camera that will follow your hands, like a GoPro. That way, you can record hands-free.

Mike I have a 2007. I bought if brand new. I have been satisfied
With the car the whole time. there is an issue I have experienced in the past several months. I have not spoken with anyone concerning it. When filling the tank with gas, the automatic shut off on the gas nozzle clicks off. This is at every station and every pump i have tried. I insert the nozzle as usual, then before 0.15 gallons have been dispensed the auto shut off engages. It continues like this every0.1 - 0.3 gallons. My last fill-up took me over 30 minutes.
Have you heard or experienced this? i am not sure who I should even talk to this about. I have watched and liked all of your videos. Do you have any thoughts concerning this? I would appreciate it if you could shed some light on this.

Well, this isn't Mike, but I thought I'd take a shot at your question. I could be wrong, of course, but I think it's a pump adjustment problem, not with your car. Pulling the nozzle boot up a bit should help. Sounds to me like they've got the pump adjusted a bit too sensitive to where it needs more ventilation to keep it from shutting off. This is where pulling the boot up comes in. Say something to the attendant on duty and ask them to inform the station manager and see if he has any suggestions. If others have had this problem (and they might very well have), they might know just what to do.
Hello Mike nice videos would you be interested In a big wheel Turbo same stock turbo housing but a bigger turbine modified by bnr ....it only has 1000. Miles on it ...i up grade too a bigger Turbo .dave at performance auto werks did all my engine and turbo work in Illinois.... I have solstice Gxp

Thanks. I got the seat covers on eBay. Just search Saturn Sky seat covers and they should pop up. If I remember right, they cost around $140.00.
Hi Mike! I enjoy your videos and I think your Sky looks wonderful, I'm looking to get one for myself here soon and I saw your video with the red accents around the interior door. The Sky I'm looking at has tan interior door panels, I was wondering if there was a way to change the color of that panel to red. I don't know terminology, so hopefully that made sense. thank you!

Jesse Durham . Duolicolor has a vinyl spray paint that you may be able to use. However, you may want to first try changing the color with Plastidip paint. That way if you don't like it, you can peel it back off. I haven't done either with my interior pieces, so I can't promise any results. Good luck and I'm glad to hear you're getting a Sky. :)

Did you have to remove the seats to install the seat covers in the first place or did you just use the clips they included?
Hi Gadi. Yes, you have to remove the seats in order to install the seat covers. The clips are attached under the seat and there's no way that I know of to do it with the seats in the car. The back of the seat, however, does not use clips. It slips on and then there's a large flap at the bottom that tucks underneath and attaches to the back of the seat cover.
Thank you! I just put them on temporarily for now but I'll reference this video to remove the seats and put them on properly. I copied your idea for the molding as well! I really like what you're doing with the car. I'd be interested to know more about the stripe as well.
Cool. I appreciate you watching my videos. I purchased the stripe from eBay. Just search Saturn Sky Stripes and you'll see a few that pop up. After I get my new dual exhaust installed (hopefully in the next few weeks weather permitting), I'm going to be looking into a carbon fiber dash kit. :)
When and for how much did you get your Saturn Sky?
I got it this year in March and paid $8000.
