    Good interview. I am interested in this program, concerned about if doable financially. Can you live comfortably off the pay? Also, is there a cap on age to do this? I am older. Thank you!

      The age limit is 60. Pay varies based on where you are placed and how many hours you work. You only work 4 days per week, so people often tutor privately to supplement their income.

    Can anyone give me some insights on the visa process for teaching in Spain? I am seeing lots of jobs that are saying "Applicants must have the right to work in the EU..." I am an American citizen; what do I have to do to be able to teach in a Spanish school?

    • @ESLTeacher365

      For Americans, the easiest way to teach abroad in Spain is through a language assistant program. Once you are accepted into the program, your school will sponsor a student visa for you. If you want to work in Spanish private schools as an American, you'll need to have a US teaching license and find a school who will sponsor your work visa. This is challenging because due to EU law, the job must first be offered to EU citizens before it can be opened to other nationalities. It's expensive and a long process for schools, so most aren't willing to do this. I was able to get a work visa to teach at an American school in Madrid (a kind of international school) because the school uses US curriculum and I have a US teaching license (which not many EU citizens would have.) If you want to teach in public schools it's even more challenging because you'll need to pass a standardized test and get your credentials validated for Spain. Long story short - if you are a certified US teacher, then apply to international schools directly or through agencies like Search Associates, ISS, TES, or Schrole. However, know that there's a lot of competition for schools in Spain. If you want an easier way to teach in Spain, then go through a language assistant program. I hope this helps!

      @@ESLTeacher365 Thank you! That's very helpful. Is it the same for TEFL jobs?

    • @ESLTeacher365
      @ESLTeacher365  Рік тому +2

      @@smhink23 to teach TEFL you will either do a language assistant program or you can get a student visa to take Spanish lesson for a year (your school has to be approved to sponsor student visas) and can work up to 30 hours part-time in private academies. Just like private schools, private academies aren't likely to sponsor non-EU citizens because it's expensive for them. This is why language assistant programs are so popular - they are a lot easier in terms of the visa.

    It would be very helpful if you did interviews on teaching in different countries next, like south east asia , south america etc..
    Not essential, but an idea nonetheless.
    Appreciate this one.🤗

    Great video! So much helpful information. I do have a question. Based on your experience or perhaps others you have spoken to, usually what are the work hours or school hours if one is to teach secondary school such as middle or high school in Spain.

      It will depend on the region where you are teaching and the program you are teaching with. Aux program is 12-16 teaching hours per week, usually 9-3, 4 days per week depending on your region. In contrast, I did 26 hours per week through UCETAM and my working hours were 9-5, five days a week.
