Thanks for putting a lot of things together, especially about alcohol.

I love water with a pinch of himalayan salt and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, sometimes take it warm with matcha tea in it. Quite addictive!
Thanks for sharing what works well for you :)
I'm gonna try that tonight as I have all those ingredients on hand. I learn almost as much in the comment section as the videos themselves, though you have to take what you read with a grain of salt, pun intended, lol! Thanks for sharing!!
Great info. I love you diet doctor!
Is pocari sweat okay? Gatorade?
I always drink water and home made electrolyte drink
My simple Recipe is
Lemon squeze
Salt
Water
Optional: you can add
Coconut water
Orange squeeze
Thanks good advice
Thank you very much, sir. God bless you!
Thank you so much I was wondering about what I can drink regarding alcohol. Great educational video.
What do u think about tequila?
What type and how much alcohol you consume will depend on your goals. Here's more info! www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/alcohol
Carbonated water is great such as:
Perrier ✔️
Gerolstiner ✔️
San Pelegrino ✔️
Zevia sodas are really good! Sweetened with stevia & clear- all the flavors!
Yes very good! I luv the cream soda one :))
Thank you!
Thanks 😊🙏
Thanks❤️
Thank You for this valuable information. Would you please give your advice in regards to juicing. Juicing fruits and vegetables. Which are ok and not
There's not benefit to juicing as it removes the fiber from the fruits and vegetables.
Perfick.🤗 Well summarised, can't see how even the most picky of nitpickers 🧐 could disagree with a single word.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I drink mostly water and Oolong tea. I love it.
That sounds perfect!
@@dietdoctor your videos are great, and as a hobby, I like to try a new keto recipe at least once every week, so your videos help a lot.
@@svcross-do …Do you sweeten the oolong with anything?
@@mountainman4859 no, I don't. I'm kinda used to it.
@@svcross-do ….I cringe at the thought of it but I need to drink it with no sweetener so the goal is to wean myself off of them. Ty for replying.
I follow a low carb and sometimes keto diet. My question is can I drink homemade milk kefir? or eat Kefir cheese?
What about Keifir I love that stuff.
If it's purchased commercially, you can look at the nutrition label to see how many carbs are in a serving.
What about heavy cream or half & half in coffee or tea?
What do you think about ketorade and other mineral replenishing drinks for pre-workout support (think LMNT)?
That is going to depend on the sweeteners used in the specific brand you're considering. You can read in more detail in our guide to sweeteners.

Ok that makes a lot of sense. I drank tea to help me ween off soda years ago. I have put 1 teaspoon of brown sugar in a 850ml bottle which I fill 3 times a day. So I guess I will work on taking out the sugar. Some one told me about Stivia but I am not sure what it is or what it breaks down into. If it is friendly is it Keto friendly?
Here is our guide to sweeteners where you can learn more about the different options.

@@dietdoctor Sweet! (pun intended) thank you.
What about flavour water??
My A1c has dropped from a 13.6 to 6.7 my blood pressure and blood sugar are wonderful and my labs from last week even had my Dr excited. I do a good bit of diet soda. And tea with 0 carb liquid sweetner. I'm always under 25 carbs sometimes way under! And last month I didn't drop one pound. I've been so discouraged. Any advice for me? I've read caffeine can slow your weight loss. Could it be the diet sodas?
You can try eliminating the sweeteners to see how that affects your progress. We discuss this in more detail in our main weight loss guide.
www.dietdoctor.com/how-to-lose-weight
@@dietdoctor thank you
Will drinking 3-4 Coke Zeros or Zero Carb Rockstars slow your progress? I have recently cut them out 100% I’m curious to see what happens. Also what about Zevia soda and Energy Drinks ?
Do diet sodas trick your body that you're drinking something sugary and having a corresponding insuline response? I hear a lot both ways. If being mentally strong and not crave more sugary stuff or eat more than supposed is the only problem, then I'll be fine.
Kombucha fully fermented! (Zero carbs)
Hey, I've thought about Kombucha.... but then it becomes full blown green tea vinegar doesn't it? Have you tried it?
@@leoceoliveira Yeah, the only way you could get it that fully fermented is to make it yourself. All the ones sold in stores have pretty high carb counts. And, if you are brewing your own, how are you going to test for carb levels?
I’ve considered making my own kombucha with glucose rather than sucrose and go for complete fermentation. Every commercial one I’ve tried has been made with sucrose and is too sweet.

Is flavored sparkling water acceptable?
Generally speaking, that should be fine if there isn't any kind of added sweetener.
what about adding a pinch of stevia
I used to big a big wine snob but, since going carnivore, I don't seem to have any taste for it. It just stopped appealing.
That happened to me with veggies, but not red wine. (but, but, but -- your name! Sorry, could not help noticing.)😏
That's interesting how those two things went hand in hand for you!
Can we add a little Eritritol on Dry Wine?
It's the same problem with artificial sweeteners, it may make harder for people to get of the cravings for sugar.
What are your thoughts on whole milk, occasionally?
That is going to depend on many factors, including your personal carb intake level, but for keto specifically whole milk as a beverage is likely going to be too high in carbohydrates/sugars. Here's our guide to dairy where you can read more to make a decision.
www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/dairy
I use Lactofree milk in tea because it has half the sugar of normal milk.
@@themarsy469 why use milk? Especially lactose free? I've heard (didn't verify it to be honest) that through the process of removing lactose, lactose is actually replaced with sugar or something that will give milk its sweetness same as it was "natural". If I were you I would use cream (I have been drinking coffee with thickened cream (I live in Australia and that is how it's called, not sure what it is called in other countries, it's basically sour cream but not that thick :D) and it's delicious). Give it a try, if you want ;). Hope this helps
Everyone speaks of the high sugar in milk but Fairlife has half the amount. I think it is 6 sugars per cup where regular milk is like 12.
Oh doc. I drink instant coffee without sugar . I dont like black coffee with milk. Are milk coffee bad for diet.?JAPAN.
Black coffee is fine when eating low carb.
Miller lite only has 3 carbs.
What about Zevia. It’s sweetened with Stevia only???
If you find that you are happy with the success you're seeing, it may be a good option for you. If your weight loss is stalled or you're not seeing the progress, try eliminating it to see how that helps. You can read more in the non-caloric sweeteners section in our top weight loss guide.

I’ve been drinking a LOT of unsweetened, flavored, sparkling waters. The ingredients say water and natural flavors. I’m uncertain about those “natural flavors.” Is that phrase hiding anything harmful?
It may depend on the product. In a flavored water for example, it's usually not a problem but for other products, it may vary. Your country's food label regulatory agency should have more information on what that term could include.
In other foods, the term "natural flavors" can hide a lot of things including MSG. In bubbly waters such as LeCroix, it is only the "essence" of the fruit which comes from the peel. Kind of like essential oils.
Thanks y’all!
SPINDRIFT any flavor
I personally believe that alcohol shouldn't be a choice on a keto diet/lifestyle. Being first, as stated, metabolised by the liver, that is not a very fast process. And since a lot of people prefer to drink after dinner then digestion is delayed for a while and might cause a problem if after dinner one drinks a glass of preferred alcoholic drink and then go to bed. Just a thought :D
Thank you for taking the time to share!
Thanks for your opinion but you are not a doctor
He said alcohol occasionally...
@@bozley149 is that what you have focused on or the info provided? So, based on your logic, if I say something a doctor (or doctors) has stated you might consider it stupid because I'm not a doctor? Hmmmm
@@bozley149 occasionally doesn't mean it's good. Imagine you having a petrol engine and, occasionally, put some diesel in it (credits for this go to Dr Gary Fettke). How that will work out for you?
Is pure honey for tea ok
Honey is not a low carbohydrate food. Generally, there are some natural sweeteners that are better than others. You can read our full guide on our website.

"agua"
Mr. SIIIIUUUUU
Water is always a great option!
I'm surprised you recommend alcohol more than soft drink.. just interesting to me. I would have guessed alcohol does more damage internally but I'm no expert
2 drinks for men and 1 for women is within the guidelines for recommended maximum daily alcohol consumption. The difference here is that he does not demonize alcohol per se if you limit yourself to those guidelines and keep in mind the side effects. Most Drs or dieticians will put all alcohol in the same category but there are certainly some who are very rich in carbohydrates wich can ruin your ketosis with ease. Binging is a whole other demon and that will surely ruin anybody's ketosis for at least a day.
I like how he treat people as adults and just warn about possible side effects and does not fall in that cliché of "oh no, stay completely away from alcohol, it's devil".
I didn’t see that he recommended alcohol more then soft drinks . It’s an educational video and he is an expert.
What about the low carb beers. Many have 3gm carbs or less?
Occasionally, in moderation.
Here is our guide to alcohol where you can read in more detail.
www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/alcohol-guide
The one I have very occasionally has 1.7g in a single serve bottle. They always make a distinction between dry and sweet wines but no recognition low carb beer even exists
I drink lemon water but like an occasion flavored water.
We have some ideas at this recipe link you may enjoy.
www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/flavored-water
And avoid fruit juice. Many contain added sugar. But even 100% fruit juice is bad as it contains fructose. Fructose is worse than sugar because it is metabolized solely by the liver, which can lead to liver fat accumulation and insulin resistance over time.
How about bullet proof coffee?
Hey there!
Great info, Doc. I drink carbonated water. No carbs or calories, yet still gives me those bubbles that I enjoyed with soda!
29 weeks into Keto/I.F. and I've lost 75lbs, dropped my resting pulse from 102 to 81bpm, my glucose from 136 to 98 and my A1C from 6.9 (with Rx's) to 5.4 (without Rx's).
Keto/I.F. works. 85lbs to go!
wow ! Congratulations. Keep it up. I plan to reduce weight too, have done it many times but always gained it back and some more. So I have started Keto+IF now (end of day 1). Although I have been doing IF (16:8) for quite a while now, the weight just remains stable and doesn't change so I have started Keto now.
Unsweetened vanilla Almond milk
I think cafe lattes are ok, they're just two shots of espresso with hot milk.
Check with your barista on how much milk they use. A tall caffe latte at Starbucks is 15g carbs.
Diet soda raises my blood pressure
It's good to be aware of personal responses to specific foods and ingredients like that!
@@dietdoctor sir it was by triall, thank you for trial, positive feedback
Water
When mentoning tea and coffe, why do I never see Yerba Mate? It should top tea and coffee.
That would be included as a type of herbal tea.
I'm your fan since almost the beginning. May i ask have you been speedily aged lately? 🤔😑
I think i just saw you fresh and young 5-6 yrs ago. 😑
Have a keto?👀
🙄 i would take what this guy says with a grain of salt.
&
alcohol will stop any fat burning that's going on for like 72hrs. i wouldn't drink it daily AT ALL i wouldn't even drink it weekly.
maybe once a month or something.. MAYBE bi weekly if you must. but id definitely NOT drink any of it daily. especially if weight loss or health is your goal.
You are allowed to eat and drink on the keto diet? I though you were only allowed to consume air only.
why does his eyes look so tired? is it the keto flu
My eyes look tired too, just checked 😔
Thanks for the advises
Best keto drink aside water is lemonade with Stevia.
