Every other video I looked at, left me more confused than before. It was especially useful to learn that i must not try to port my number before switching. I would have assumed that I had to do it first. Saved me a lot of possible grief.
Since posting to your last video, I have gone ahead and upgraded my vodafone account with new modem-router with built in digital phone sockets. All sorted, phone number retained and at a good price (no extra monthly cost for phone like EE).
Regarding power cuts. I have been asked to review a tiny standby battery made by Eaton which can provide the output to keep the Router, ATA and ONT ,if applicable, alive for about 2hrs. It retails at about £55. I'm very impressed with it and I shall see if I can get to keep it.😃
