Can we get a video that goes over, like, "Liquid's Week 1 for War Within" where you go over the prep for a new expansion and what your players are expected to do in that time? Obviously no need to divulge specifics but just to get a sense of the overall level of play, mentality, and progression to be at the highest level? And how much time goes into things like planning leveling routes for your raiders, planning gear acquisition week 1 etc?
I love the idea of gamers grading eachothers UI's as if any of us are organized or have any motivation to spend time on a UI. 99% of players fucking toggle anchors, move shit from time to time, "oops, those health bars are slightly overlapping, I'll fix that later" 5 months later: "Why are these health bars overlapping?
I love that I get to see Ben's UI here because I use the same concept for my healthbar being in the middle and people hate SO much on me for my UI (Zeff UI on Wago) because it doesn't follow the normal trend of Player Left, Target Right but I really think that UI is so so personal and for me it work. Awesome video :)
1:30 I still use the OG style with frames up left, buffs / debuffs top right, and action bars down at the bottom. I like the clean look, less clutter in the middle. I'm using a 27" QHD panel.
Map in the middle or near the center area actually fucks insanely hard because the minimap is incredibly useful on fights where there is lots of absolute positioning. Its such a good reference when you might be facing south east and you know you need to go north.
I've been using a widescreen, 21:9 not the gigawide, for years and to be honest I do think its very useful for WoW, sometimes it helps clean up space in the middle by moving unnecessary windows to the sides like the chat window or minimap. I found it particularly useful on Fyrakk cause if I angled my camera the right away I could see the orbs during phase 1 coming across my screen giving me plenty of time to react. Also makes it easier to keep all enemies and mechanics on screen for a fight like Council of Dreams where the bosses are running around constantly
Decursive right now is usually used for the sound byte every time someone needs a dispell and then you just regularly dispel with a mouse over macro from frames, but it is impossible to completely remove that frame so thats probably why that resto shammy had it on the side almost invisible
1:50 When I started in mop I remember getting headaches when I played WoW, and when I after some time moved my health bar/enemy frame closer to the middle of the screen they disappeared. Thats how bad it is.
People are not the same. While you may have trouble when information is spread & not focused, others like create a system & purposefully divide them across the screen. At least half of the information is situational & can be looked at when the situation demands it (brain will give you a que when to take a quick peek). There is a reason why MMORPG UI can be modified & repositioned by the user..
Back in ye olden 2004-2007 days, decursive allowed you to dispell/decurse with a button press (most people used ~/`), and now it just does it on a click or a mouseover. I still use it. Old habits die hard. I keep my raid frames to the left of my screen where they're visible but not super in my face, as I play a mage and don't usually need to even see raid frames. So, I put decursive near my toon to do that when necessary. You can also set it up to use right click to sheep/poly MC'ed players and such.
I mythic heal as a resto druid and the only addon i have is decursive. I use base game UI. Im fairly new to wow so decursive is helpful to have rather then relying on my mouse overs since idk what i can and can’t dispel since i have potato memory. Easy to see, easy to use.
Hearing about UI's during cata reminded me of a addon that I lived and died by getting through heroic DS, RetCLC. No thinking, just slam button that comes up, was great, very unoptimal but made my 5fps laptop having ass drag through Spine and Madness xD
I'm a healer main, to this day I use Grid. Grid customization and tracking goes hard. Like, I actually can't wrap my head around healers that don't run Grid or default frames+WA.
Because the Grid founder stopped active on-time support for it a long time ago as their life became more busy, so over time it's gained more bugs and problems than is worth using compared to others that offer the same and more customization and tracking. This as someone who used it since Wotlk live as a healer, but as it gained issues swapped to Vuhdo and discovered I could replicate my frames but also I now have access to 2-3x more options, to the point it's honestly overwhelming at times.
Thinking about atrocious addons I used, during Cataclysm (back when that was retail's latest expansion) I used an addon called "Comix" solely for the amusement I got from landing crits on the target.
Holy shit my brain couldnt handle all those things in the middle of the screen. I have 3 smaller actions bars in the middle two longs from top to bottom and thats it. I got my healthbar and the enemies over my 3 action bars and thats it.
ive been playing wow since 2004. I was born in 2001, so its fair to say I grew up pressing keys for my dad and over 20 years of experience I know how to make good UIs. Holy crud, what are these UIs XD
I imagine it like a batter's box in baseball. You're fucked if your UI is in the center of your screen and your vision of the close-proximity of your character is compromised. Nothing belongs in the middle except damage numbers. There's a reason top PvPers use near default UI
As someone who completely agrees that default MSBT is awful, especially because of the Porky font, but if you configure it properly, it’s MUCH cleaner than random floating combat text cluttering the screen everywhere every single time that you AoE. Just need to change the font, remove sticky crits, reduce the size and opacity, disable the Static window, and turn off all notifications except for entering and exiting combat. Trust me, it’s MUCH cleaner than default Blizz UI floating combat text.
Honestly it doesnt matter what your UI is as long as you are comfy and perform its fine. I look at Yoda for example man doesnt even use a whole as Weakaura bar just Procs, buffs ect for his class and got all his bars in the middle. I thought for the longest time i cant tell anybody that mine is the same but oh well :D
I still have my debuffs on top right but moved bars somewhere around middle... I still play with the default bars, having abilities both at bottom and right side of screen... Ive also kept me wa's to a bare minimum only using some extras for my class, dragonflying and for any bosses if needed
The only thing that bugs me about some of these is the fact that the cameras are always zoomed out. I hate playing with the camera zoomed out like that.
I use one but I am visually impaired so it allows me to increase the size of all my mods which makes it easier for me to see important details. Mine's only a 34 inch but it is helpful.
10:55 Gcd tracker is so bis. I stream my char progression and watch the vod back to see what I can do better/ what I did wrong. It’s great for learning your rotation as well. Record yourself for 5 mins then watch it back and question every button press.
What I don’t understand about some of the UIs is, what’s the point of having multiple personal resource bars close to each other… for example last UI. Guy has health and mana display in the middle, to the left there’s another personal resource display, a bit higher there are party frames where he can see himself in group (for some reason people keep that?) where he can see his personal resources ONCE AGAIN! I mean, if you got 5 people in the group display 4 party members and use basic character info frame as 5th option 🤷♂️
I think placing everything in the middle is stupid, partially for the reason that was mentioned in the video, but also because you end up blocking a lot of the middle of the screen, where there'll often be mechanics going on. I use a very minimalistic default-like UI where I have my hotbars at the bottom and the side bars and I have the raid UI on the left side. Most of my information is therefore on the edges of the screen, which means I only have mechanics to worry about in the middle. If you tend to have tunnel vision then that's obviously not good, but you'll only reward tunnel vision more if you place everything in the middle, making it even harder to get rid of it.
Hey there, question for all the healers (especially decursive users). I'm newish to WoW and very new to healing. For cleansing, I've just used the standard mouseover through healbot. When I first saw decursive I thought it'd be annoying to have to move my mouse away from the frames and then click to cleanse. I thought it'd take more time to do that and that using my mouseover on normal frames makes it more clear who I'm even cleansing. I already have my frames change color based on the type of debuff affecting someone so I'm doing fine with that too. Basically I feel like I don't have any issues with the way I already do things, tend to even have top dispels when I raid, but am I just totally missing something that would actually make my life easier here?? I'm seeing so many people saying they love it.
Hey, not a healer, but I think its good for dps with dispells. My main is a mage and I use it because I don't have party/raid frames within my vision to mouseover them, and I only dispell when its needed for me to help out healers. You could always use it as just a extra source of information, not to click on to cleanse, just to see if you missed any dispells. Other than that I think dispelling how you have been is much better because, like you said, it's just more clear who you are dispelling and you don't have to move your mouse away.
I treat my game ui like I use my eyes while driving, need to be in the center for basic stuff but look around the view box for abnormalities. If that makes sense.

I have the same healing standard ui as him, it might not look as clean, but I have the boss bars on the right side, special abilities goes off mid top screen, so I continually uses my eyes all over my screen so I don't miss anything happening in the room, because iam an old school player I only need to see the mechanic once to get it so I don't need auras to tell me what's happening other than when a player is going to get hit by a dangerous ability

probably not common but I play only with controller and use the addon "consoleport" for ui. when I play aff I either have a wa or an older addon called warlock wizz that puts dots around the middle of the screen on the sides of my character

I dont think a custom ui is worth it the wow standard ui does everyting really
I play with the "old school" style UI and on a 50" Tv. Never had any issue tracking anything... I don't really need to stare at my buttons and why do I need to know my exact % of health. I know when I got hit by something without staring at my health. UI in the middle of the screen makes no sense... You can't see the game. wth.
see over
Ppl always pad, I just laugh
