Question: do the images have to be saved locally on the user's desktop/local drive? or is it possible for an image to populate from a website URL path, provided that A) that path is listed in the database and B) the path ends in the actual full file name? Thanks
I don't think that's possible with built in InDesign tools, but you might be able to find a script that would do it.
The path of the folder being referenced at 2:32 is in relation to the text file. If the images are located in another folder or server, then the full path of the image must be placed here.
Yes! Good info. :)
I'm creating a yearbook of departments and when one department ends I need the next set of images to go to the next page, is there a way to make that work with data merge?
How many departments are there? It might be possible, but I would probably just make a separate merge for each dept.
Since I use InData, I understood everything, but how to make the CVS file. Do I have to create it manually, which would be pretty tedious.
I don't know InData, but if the info is in a chart format, you can just copy and paste that into Google sheets. I don't think you would need to create it manually.
Great instruction however I am getting an error when I try to merge data: "One or more images referenced by the data source file are missing" Do you know how I can fix this? THX!
It's sound like one of the images that your spreadsheet is referencing isn't in the folder.
I got this message too, and I realized it was because I didn't have the FULL image names, including the .jpg at the end
so if I have around 300 images, I have to manually type each title in the spreadsheet? or is there maybe a short cut that I don't know about??
If you have the 300 images in a folder, you can select them all and copy, then paste into the first row on your spreadsheet (this works with Mac, I'm sure there's a similar process with PC).
@@GDHT Hi Anne, First, Thanks for this, it helped a lot! This used to work, but now, when I copy & paste, the first image is literal showing in the excel spreadsheet, in stead of the names of the files. Do you know how to fix this?
how to get @image function
I'm not sure what you mean? What part of the video are you getting stuck on (min, sec)?
An angelic face 🤗
Aww thank you!
