      Thanks for suggesting this, but what specifically do you want to see covered?
      I ask because it's difficult for me to imagine what my opinion will bring to this topic.

      Thanks for expanding.
      1. Technically, I have tried this kind of thing, but not exactly in this way.
      2. Yes, and they were deeply disappointed for reasons that are clear in the scientific study you mentioned. I would suggest looking into what visual memory means and then reflect on what possible meaning it could have under the conditions mentioned in the study.
      3. Personally, I find the techniques I discussed in The Victorious Mind and in my Read with Momentum program far better for stimulating the brain. But as in those materials, a core message is carpe diem with caveat emptor in full range.
      4. I have no opinion on this, but as mentioned above, there's no reason to believe that any meaningful benefit comes from this activity. However, we do have placebo effects to consider and perhaps many other unknowns.
      The only time for me to have an opinion on this would be if I were judging a memory competition or holding an exam.
      In my view schools and universities have much bigger problems at the moment than this issue.

    Hi Dr. Metivier,
    I've recently purchased your book 'The Victorious Mind', and saying the book was life-changing would be an understatement. Each section is perfectly integrated to depict the power of memory techniques coupled with meditation. Although much time has passed, I think it's more than fair to say the world needs you more than ever, Dr. Metivier, and you are truly an inspiration and idol for me and many more, as someone who's also had their fair share of battles with mental health issues, albeit less severe than the ones you have endured.

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM Hey Dr. Merivier,
      I’d love to see you emphasize some of the anecdotal details of how you were able to overcome medications, limiting self beliefs, and overall rehabilitation. However I would understand if you would rather not dwell on the past. Nonetheless for a lack of better words I think you’re awesome!

    About short term memory, when I am tired from a long day or I did not have enough sleep it suffers so much. Sometimes I don't even remember what I said 3 sec before. But my long term memory (compared to the average person) still holds strong because of the memory palace.
    Great video explaining the differences, most people think that there is only one type of memory and they don't differentiate between long and short term.

    I'v been my whole life clearly worse then average people at remembering anything. I assume it's a worsened ability to put something from short to long term memory.
    Being an adult it's ridiculous how I can't have conversations anymore with anyone due to just constantly not knowing something, basic things, places, common knowledge that is just needed for life. And I try to school myself for years now on learning basic things that others just normally remembered as a part of life. And I can't. I forget that constantly as well even if I repeat it every few days, then every week.
    Working memory being even worse then short term memory. If I hear more then 4 pieces of information in a row, I just short circuit and forget all of them.

      @Bobby_101 2 роки тому +1

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM Sure, I write down everything I learn. I did pick up some tricks for memory especially on this channel, probably missed some. I even tried to come up with things myself.
      I'm more interested in actually training my memory like a muslce instead of relying on tricks like the memory palace or imagining quirky scenes visually. Even if those things are great for specifics, I'd like to naturally be able to remember random facts from a conversation like others do.
      Maybe I missed something though, maybe the tricks can help with that too.
      I did put in a lot of effort and was committed for months learning knowledge about a wide range of topics, creating digital libraries in the process (mainly using visual imagination as the only tool to strengthen what I learned), until I sort of gave up at one point seeing how far behind I am.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  2 роки тому +1

      Using the mnemonics (which are not tricks) strengthens our mental muscles. They are like barbells at the gym and will actually train you.
      The "trick" is to find someone who actually gives you the real skills, which is what this channel is all about. Nothing about creating digital libraries, however. There's no need for expending time in that way when the mind is used in conjunction with mnemonic tools.

    • @Bobby_101
      @Bobby_101 2 роки тому +1

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM Sorry I didn't mean tricks as in something cheap and fleeting. I meant more like something that is indirect way of memorization instead of directly forcing it into memory.
      Aka it seemed to me that doing mnemonics is more extra work and additional things to think about and that I'll have to rely on it like a crutch always.
      I'm sure if I knew the exact best way to go about it, I'd manage to improve.
      Oh by digital libraries I just mean I take notes on everything I watch, read, hear. Since ironically as the person with the worst memory, I am obsessed with learning about everything and knowing a lot.
      Which is specifically why it's so depressing having worse memory then people who don't even want to learn things.
      I guess I'm venting here.
      Great channel, I'll pay extra attention for what can help me.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  2 роки тому +1

      In the beginning, mnemonics may well seem like more work. But that's a sign of weak mental muscles, not a problem with mnemonics.
      And as with weak muscles in the body, the only ways to strengthen are to use them. You get different outcomes depending on the tools you use (cardio vs calisthenics vs weights, for example).
      It's the same with memory techniques. Pick the tools, learn to use them and strengthen the muscles of your mind. THen you'll be faster.
      As to digital libraries, I think I understood what you meant, and doing such things often leads people into digital amnesia. It's an activity that rarely leads to accomplishment. There are far finer ways to take notes that will strengthen your mind instead of risking it to technologies that are still incredibly new.
      Thanks for being part of this mission and its discussion and enjoy the channel at large!
