    I've had my Ender 3 v2 for a couple of months now. It is my first 3d printer and so far I'm very happy with it. In terms of complaints about the user interface, the solution is simple: Octoprint. I installed it on a very old Raspberry Pi version B I had laying around and it works great. I'll never use the Ender front panel or thumb drive again!

    11:58 Great video as usual!
    1 thing to add. Replace the glass bed with a double sided smooth PEI / Powder Coated Textured PEI spring steel flex sheet! I.e. Fulament, or other single sided alternatives similar to Prusa bed solution. And yes, GLUESTICK!
    Since your a very experienced user, we see you had no trouble getting your prints to stick and successful without destroying them, unlike some "other" reviewers! GREAT JOB!
    The Ender 3 V2 is so much better than 3 and the PRO for the money and it's overall "finished" product.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Tim! Thanks! For the glass beds I keep a set of plastic putty knives for prying "large footprint" models off the glass. But I sometimes have to work a thin blade under one edge of the print.
      BIQU sent me their "Super Spring Steel Sheet" for review. It's double-sided, textured PEI. So I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do. The spring steel feels thinner than the Wham Bam spring steel sheets I typically use.

    9 months later there are quite a few upgrades available , tweaked versions of Marlin , Bl touch , better display firmware , dual z axis leadscrew kits and full metal hot end or direct drive conversions but the FIRST thing to do is change the bed levelling springs - the factory ones are too weak .
    This is the wonderful thing about 3D printing - it never stops evolving !

    Thanks for the great video. While I do feel the Ender-3 V2 is an improvement over the Ender 3/Pro, I feel they have missed addressing a few basic design problems. Not enough attention is paid to the mechanical alignment of the XYZ stages. Much of that could be addressed by through inexpensive changes in construction and assembly technique. This accounts for much of the variability in print quality. The second major limitation is the hot end design. The direct coupling of of the PTFE tubing to the nozzle is a bad design and a frequent source of problems. Decoupling the Bowden tube with an internal metal tube as is done in the Swiss All Metal hot end would would fix that. Replacement of the hot-end assembly, is a tedious and time consuming process. Again, making this more modular and using quick connectors, would be a vast improvement. I do agree the 32 bit board is welcome and especially the simplified firmware updating. Silent fans of a higher quality at a small cost which most consumers would willingly pay for the improvements in durability and quiet operation.

    Thanks for the review - it looks like Creality have paid attention to the Ender 3 (and 3 Pro) mods that have emerged in places like Thingiverse and incorporated them in to the standard product. Also, it looks like you've installed your filament reel holder bracket back to front. The way you have it, you won't be able to fit a full-size 90mm reel on it. That's certainly the case on the standard Ender 3 and the bracket looks identical.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Steve! You're right, the drawer, belt tensioners, extruder knob are simple prints that a lot of people like to use (especially the extruder knob). And to move the PSU horizontally behind the printer there are printable brackets. I do appreciate having all these things already done on the V2, so I'm glad Creality rolled all that into the design.
      I honestly didn't expect to like that drawer as well as I do. I finally found one I like on Thingiverse for my Ender 3 Standard, and it's printing now. It's over 24 hours to print the drawer frame and the two drawers that go in it.
      And yes, I did the spool holder like that because most of my spools are only 65-70mm thick, and I think the bracket looks better with the metal folded toward the back. 🙂 So, purely an aesthetics choice on my part, but I'll know what to do if I get an extra thick spool. 👍

    Well Bryan, Congratulations on the 10k subscribes can’t wait to see you at the 100k subs. I think that Creality Fell short on this printer. So for the extra money you get a few frills like belt adjustments. Unlike the anycubic Glass bed this one seems like a poor copy. I think it is actually missing two items 1) A removable spring steel bed. 2) Automatic bed leveling. Without these additional features from my perspective I think the pro is a much better deal. Again congratulations take care great video as usual and be safe

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 роки тому +1

      Hi David! Thank you! It took two and a half years to get to 10K, so I'm hoping it doesn't take 25 years to gget to 100K! I'll be REALLY old then!
      At the time the V2 came out, the price premium over the Pro was about even with what you'd need to pay to add a silent board to the Pro, to match the silent board on the V2 (even though the board you'd be getting for the Pro was 8-bit).
      But now with the price shuffling that Creality has done, particularly the current sale prices, it may be harder to make the argument for the V2 over the Pro. The price is currently US$60 more for the V2 (both printers are on sale, with the V2 at US$269 and the Pro at US$209). Though at full retail cost, the difference is only US$30.
      I'd like to see bed leveling and a spring steel sheet too. Maybe they'll make an Ender 3V2 Pro? 😉

    Great info Bryan! I agree with everything you said about the v2 as far as likes and dislikes..One thing I disliked when I got my v2 was that there was NO 'resume' function..If you started a print and 'paused' it, there was no 'resume' button..Was a little frustrating and caused me to abort a couple of prints that I had to pause because of a filament break...BUT, after updating the firmware, there is a 'resume' function! Make sure you have the correct firmware..In the 'About' screen it should show firmware version 1.0.2 , most v2's will ship with version 1.0.1..go creality.com/download , click on Ender series then Ender 3 v2 and this is the file you should get Ender-3 V2_32bit_ 2.0.1V Latest Firmware_0814.rar dated August 14th 2020...
    Also, after the firmware upgrade the print quality improved dramatically without me doing a thing in my profiles! Nice..:)

      Hi Jon, I'm glad Creality got that rolled into the new firmware. One thing I'd like to see in the "Tune" menu while printing is being able to adjust the flow rate (not the print speed). And it would be nice if the spelling of "Z Offest" was corrected to "Z Offset," and there was a way to save the value. 👍

    Nice video! Currently in the market for my second fdm printer (Something to keep my trusty Maker Select v2 from getting lonely after all these years) and have been leaning towards the Ender 3 v2.
    I still can't really justify the price of a Prusia. Only feature it has that I would want is the auto bed leveling...but BLtouch would solve that.

Like a modified reverse lockout for a car, the bottom i imagine will take a little beating from sliding out of reverse. Stick with ABS for this? The factory one is plastic so i assume this will work as well, i just need a modified one for my short shifter. I already made a stl file for this :)

    Regarding the TPU: I have found that TPU can be a little hard to pull from the spool and the Bowden feeder will just chew it up. My solution was to just pull a length of filament and lay it down neatly to feed it.

    Hi. Thank you very much for the video. Forgive me if the question is completely stupid, but if just replace the 2208 chips with hot air soldering on the 2209 chips, will this modification work (I want LA and current control).
    End second question - how I can add physycal "emerengesy button" to stop printing? Connect it to contacts rst and gnd or is there a better way? Thanks.

    Hi Vines,
    Do you know a way to adjust the contrast of the new Ender 3 V2 display. I almost can't see the selection I made in de main menu.
    Cheers,

      Hi Michael, I don't think there's a way to adjust it. Is the contrast better if you look at it more from the side rather than straight on?

    Great video, thank you. I have not bought my first printer yet but it looks like it will be the Ender 3 V2. Question, on the Creality website, they offer a bundle with the CR Touch add-on for auto-leveling. How useful is this, or put another way, how hard is it to manually level and how often does it need to be done? thanks again

    Can you tell me the height from the table top to the top of the frame, not including the spool holder? I have a limited height in my work cabinet. I can always move the spool. The specs list it at 24.5" but in a side by side, it looked shorter than the Artillery Genius, which is 20". Thanks!

    Could you make a video on how to properly do a multicolor print by pausing at height with the Ender 3 V2? I've watched other videos and the setup with Cura causes the printer to pause for a filament change, but only for 10 seconds. I appreciate your videos so much. They've helped me since day one when I put the printer together. Thanks so much. Keep the videos coming. Cheers!

    Did they fix the Z axis? I understand that the alignment is off on the ender pro and others, but I haven't heard (from the many UA-cam video's ive watched, if they fixed that.

    does the roll of filament not put weight on the structure that can cause it to shake more during use? that can affect the quality of the end result no?

    what size nozzle did u use for the trashcan also what firmware was your ender v2 using as mine has spiral lines running all the way up anything i print in vase mode.....i know its the v2 doing it as my old stock original ender 3 can print vase mode without the issue...both printers are stock so its kinda annoying that the more expensive printer has issues when the original ender is fine

    I guess the interface doesn't matter for me, since I use mine through Octoprint installed on a Raspberry Pi. I do this mainly so I don't have to sneakernet the mircoSD between the printer and my PC with the slicer.

    And, just today, my printer stopped halfway through a print, just stopped and had to be turned off. No it didn’t resume after that and I had to restart. I believe the reason was that my descriptive file name, which you can’t read on the narrow display, was more than 21 characters long. Well the much shorter file name did complete the 2 1/2 hr print with no new issues. More bits for the rejected prints bucket. I also upgraded the firmware, so easy I thought it hadn’t done anything.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Klave. That's interesting about the filename length. Annoying for sure, but also interesting. I hadn't heard of that problem before, and I haven't run into it yet. But I've mostly been trying to keep my filenames short so I can read them in their entirety.

    • @BrenzMarie

      I think you might have a mystery glitch rather than a systematic error. I have sliced quite a few prints with PrusaSlicer 2.2.0+ and it makes enormously long .gcode filenames if you let it. It had one that was 58 characters long, not counting the file extension, and it printed fine on the Ender 3 V2. Try again and see what happens. Good luck.

      Might want to check this out github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/issues/18790 Have heard that this has been fixed as of build version from 9.7.2020 going forward. From what i have heard on this only happens if your printing from the SD card. I use a octoprint server so don't use the SD card to print so haven't ran into this problem myself.

    Hi Brian.I have a question what is the better purchase for a newbie as myself, an Ender 3 Pro w/ upgraded Cmagnet Build Surface Plate and UL power supply V4.2.2 Mainboard Extra tempered Glass plate and Metal Extruder or The Ender-3V2 Self-Developed Mainboard with Silent TMC2208 Stepper Drivers and Smart Filament Sensor and Carborundum Glass Bed. Also I really wanted the CR10- Mini for the build volume and the price point, both of these i know will not give me that but I want the best printer for the price point. Is there a larger reliable printer that you would suggest at a similar price?
