It was time for an automated ball/strike zone about 20 years ago....the pitchers now through so hard and with such a high-spin rate that it's nearly impossible to be a consistent umpire behind the plate. There's no valid reason against a computerized system now - especially when the enormous financial implications of post-season games is considered. It's impressive that most H.P. umps get 85-90% of the calls right, but a 10-15% range of incorrect calls is too high....

With that being said if a coach or player says to me that was low I would go to my other umpires, between innings, and ask if my zone was to low and if they said yes I would adjust it accordingly. I'm only human, not perfect by any means but if I'm hearing from multiple people, I need and will adjust. My goal was to call the best game possible and take myself out of the equation of the game. They need AI umpires to make that call. The technology is there. Use it. It's not like baseball is scared to change rules.

    As a Braves fan
I’m shocked it’s league wide straight struggles for blue
3out of 4 games watched during the weekend
They are begging baseball to go to automation
    Which was sacrilegious
Forever and I now am completely on board
    They can’t do the job

They need to audit the umpires in game. Like a 4th official with pitch track. This sort of stuff shouldnt go unnoticed.

Im a fan of a team that hasn't won the Series in my lifetime. No bias. And I very very much dislike the Yankees. But, that coach has his players backs. Kept it real professional. This Ump is crazy bad.

Time to allow challenges for balls and strikes the same as other umpires calls. Give each manager 5 challenges per game so we can finally get the RIGHT calls and not affect the outcome of a game. 🙏

I remember when only the best umpires worked in the post season. Somewhere around 1980 the bad umpires complained about not getting to work the post season. There have been bad umpires that have cost the better team from winning the World Series. Case in point was game six of the I 70 series, when St Louis was robbed of their 4th win against Kansas City. They fell apart in game 7 and half of the team got thrown out of the game. No excuse for incompetence by umpiring. Vaughn

Take away the strike zone square and put a camera at an angle that shows where the ball is in regards to the strike zone actually is when the ball actually crosses the plate.
It always amazes me that the guys making millions are crying about the guys making thousands. If umpires are expected to be perfect, then they should be getting paid much much more.
Yes, there are guys that don’t belong… I’m sure they found their way in by knowing the right people. At the same time a blown call is just as human as a player error. Sadly the media has taken control of this wonderful game, and they are desperately trying to change it

Umpires are not part of the game. They have historically been a necessary evil because of a lack of technology. We now have the ability to get 100% right calls. We need to embrace that. Tennis already has, and it is awesome. I have never watched a game to see what the umpire is doing.
