The unps need to start being held accountable for how horrendous they are sometimes. All games need to be reviewed by the union. If an up behind the plate has this bad of a game, the union needs to step in and you don’t get to call a game behind the plate for a series or 2. I know that will never happen, but that’s the only way to get these umps to actually be able to make the right call.
They need to have a panel to watch these umps. If they are this many bad calls in two innings they need to be removed. Let the players decide the game not them.

It was time for an automated ball/strike zone about 20 years ago....the pitchers now through so hard and with such a high-spin rate that it's nearly impossible to be a consistent umpire behind the plate. There's no valid reason against a computerized system now - especially when the enormous financial implications of post-season games is considered. It's impressive that most H.P. umps get 85-90% of the calls right, but a 10-15% range of incorrect calls is too high....

Perfect framing. Gave the pitcher his target, dropped his glove then waited until the the perfect time to catch the ball and move it into the strike zone in a smooth motion.

The league should fine the umpires based on balls outside the box. That would fix that problem immediately. Also fine strikes not called. Either you have good eyes or find another job. Or red flag challenge like nfl.

As an umpire I know how the coach feels and how the umpire feels. With that being said if a coach or player says to me that was low I would go to my other umpires, between innings, and ask if my zone was to low and if they said yes I would adjust it accordingly. I'm only human, not perfect by any means but if I'm hearing from multiple people, I need and will adjust. My goal was to call the best game possible and take myself out of the equation of the game. I have made my fair share of bad calls and I knew it the minute I did it but it is what it is.

I remember when only the best umpires worked in the post season. Somewhere around 1980 the bad umpires complained about not getting to work the post season. There have been bad umpires that have cost the better team from winning the World Series. Case in point was game six of the I 70 series, when St Louis was robbed of their 4th win against Kansas City. They fell apart in game 7 and half of the team got thrown out of the game. No excuse for incompetence by umpiring. Vaughn
Take away the strike zone square and put a camera at an angle that shows where the ball is in regards to the strike zone actually is when the ball actually crosses the plate. It always amazes me that the guys making millions are crying about the guys making thousands. If umpires are expected to be perfect, then they should be getting paid much much more. Yes, there are guys that don’t belong… I’m sure they found their way in by knowing the right people. At the same time a blown call is just as human as a player error. Umpires are not part of the game. They have historically been a necessary evil because of a lack of technology. We now have the ability to get 100% right calls. We need to embrace that. Tennis already has, and it is awesome. I have never watched a game to see what the umpire is doing.
