It took me a while to finally realize why Souda sounds like such a dork and it's because his backstory with being all nerdy with the big glasses and everyone teasing him...HES GOT HIS DORKY LITTLE KID VOICE THAT TOOK ME FOREVER TO REALIZE
Hinata voice is nice. Nagito is...alright. Togami works! Saionji is...not what I expected at all! Akane is so hella! ...Mine is nice. Gundan voice actor sounds like they are trying to be the hulk..but it cool. Mikain is so innocent sounding! And Ibuki is like ..chearleader! Forget everyone else Namani!!!!!!!! But they did a good job with everyone tbh.

A lot of them perfectly fit what I imagined their voices to sound like in English. The only one I'm questioning is Peko, but it's still not terrible. As for the mispronounced names, I find them funny to hear. And to be honest, they're mostly limited to last names. Since the characters are gonna be referred to by first name, it isn't much of a problem. And fuck the haters, Usami's voice is adorable.
You know the answer to that's going to be no. This is literally what happened when Trigger Happy Havoc came out. All of the voices were ""utter garbage"" until people got used to them, and then they were okay/good/great. Now these voices are ""utter garbage"" based off extremely minimal dialogue from the very beginning of the game. Yet again. It's almost as if history is repeating itself.

Eclipse Sky 死去 Nagito Komaeda, scramble the letters and it becomes "Makoto Naegi da" which means "Im Makoto Naegi" Nagito is supposed to be like a... Makoto who took the wrong path. That's why his obsessiveness towards Hope is far more over the top than Makoto's promotion of it
Spoiler on Komaeda* If you paid any attention to him he was filled with despair long before. Even without his memories his only goal is to spread despair "to obtain the ultimate hope" but that's complete bullshit. He loves despair even if he doesn't admit it just by his actions alone. I hate how people try to defend his annoying despair loving ass.

Okay, some thoughts. (WARNING: There will be implied spoilers for major parts of the game. Read More at your own risk.) Akane: Gives off that tomboy-ish, blunt demeanor well. Also sounds like it has the energy to fit someone who fights as much as she does, so no complaints. Good voice. Byakuya: Loved his Trigger Happy Havoc voice for how convincingly he played someone as blunt and arrogant as Byakuya is. It didn't sound much like Akira Ishida, but for me, I couldn't care less. That said, I'm not surprised that Wishnov was brought back, but he's still a welcome addition. Chiaki: A bit emotionless-sounding, but I think that's the idea given who she really is. She's got a good pitch going for her, so at least it isn't likely to get dull too quickly. Fuyuhiko: Derek Stephen Prince has a lot of experience, especially doing voices like this. I'm really hoping he has some decent emotional range on said voice, especially for Chapter 2 and beyond. From what we've heard so far, he sounds pretty much exactly how I'd have imagined Fuyuhiko to sound, so that's good. Gundham: He definitely sounds like his Japanese VA, who did a great job conveying Gundham's character as someone who presents a super-villain-y impression while wielding a hidden heart of gold. I understand that he's being dubbed by a pretty new VA, and honestly, if he can pull off Gundham, he's going places. Hajime: The deeper tone of voice mirrors Hajime's raised assertiveness compared to Makoto, which the Japanese versions indicated through speech pattern. Since that won't really work so well in English, the deeper voice fits him well, plus it sounds pretty close to your average teen, which for all intents and purposes, Hajime is. Nothing too bad here. Hiyoko: I dunno. On one hand, she sounds a lot like her Japanese VA and gets across her illusion of youthful innocence well. On the other hand, her delivery for Hiyoko's more cruel lines has yet to be heard (except for Trailer #2, which sounded okay) and I fear that she may go just a little bit overboard with the cuteness of her delivery, but I know that Kira Buckland has range, so these concerns are mostly unwarranted. Ibuki: As long as she has enough range for Chapter 3's musical number, I think her VA will do fine. She can certainly deliver Ibuki's lines with the necessary playfulness, that's for sure. Kazuichi: I know Kyle Hebert's got range, and he'll need it for Kazuichi. Not counting what we can assume to be some of his voice clips in the second trailer, we've really only heard his base voice (trying to act cool rather than panicking or trembling), but it sounds good so far. No problem here. Mahiru: Sounds firm enough for someone as serious as Mahiru, especially if the trailers are anything to go by. No complaints. Mikan: Meek? Check. Vulnerable? Check. Insecure? Check. Leaves no doubt that her free time events will make you tear up? Check, check, checker-ooh. I dunno who her VA is, but if she has enough range for Chapter 3 to work, then she was perfectly cast. Nagito: I wasn't too big on Papenbrook's Makoto. His pitch was okay, but he seemed a bit whisper-y at times where it didn't make sense (that could just be me :P). On the other hand, that may be able to work for Nagito, but we haven't heard any of how he acts after and during Chapter 1's trial, so I'll wait until we hear that before rushing to judgment. Still, Papenbrook voiced Henry in Fire Emblem Awakening, so I could see him pulling something off. Just from what we've heard, he seems to sound pretty friendly, which he should by this point in the game. THE ULTIMATE TEAM MANAGER, NEKOMARU NIDAI: HE'S VOICED BY PATRICK SEITZ! WHAT MORE NEEDS TO BE SAAAAIIIIIID?!?!?! Peko: I'd expected something deeper in tone, but I can still see this voice working out. It's somewhat flat, but dignified, which fits her self-perception as a tool perfectly. Also, I'm not sure why, but I get the feeling that when Chapter 2 rolls around, her final lines are gonna be delivered with a precision strike to the feels. Sonia: Haven't heard much of Natalie Hoover, both as Sonia and in her other roles. Still, she seems to be doing okay as Sonia and talks about this role a lot on Twitter, in a good light no less. I'll stay cautiously optimistic on her. Teruteru: I have high hopes for this one. Teruteru's the kind of character that needs his VA to have a lot of range and be able to leave an impression early on, which having heard bits of some of his other roles, I think Todd Haberkorn is great for. Todd can pull him off, but he'll really need to go all out for Chapter 1 to have it's full impact. Usami: Honestly sounds kind of annoying, patronizing and so forth... which is exactly how she sounded in the Japanese version and is how she's supposed to sound; why is everyone complaining about it? Final thoughts: ALL ABOARD DAT HYPE TRAIN, MONO-FUCKAS!
I hate it when people talk bad about english dubs I'm just happy its in English! Cuz i don't like anything subbed ALL of them did grate!! The only one i don't like is Usami and I happen to love Komaeda's voice

I have been looking for a good version of Dangan Ronpa 2 the english version to watch on youtube. This is one of the best versions I've seen though I'm glad you took the time to make this video. :)
With the cast, I don't have any huge complaints. A lot of them were right on the money, like Komaeda and Koizumi, and others were off a little like Tsumiki and Gundam, but this is also the first impression video, and if it's anything like the first english cast, then it'll only get better from here. My main issue is the pronunciation of Kuzuryuu and Nanami. But that's not a really big deal in retrospect. In my opinion, I think they did fine, and I'm expecting great things from this game.

Akane: Gives off that tomboy-ish, blunt demeanor well. Also sounds like it has the energy to fit someone who fights as much as she does, so no complaints. Good voice.
Byakuya: Loved his Trigger Happy Havoc voice for how convincingly he played someone as blunt and arrogant as Byakuya is. It didn't sound much like Akira Ishida, but for me, I couldn't care less. That said, I'm not surprised that Wishnov was brought back, but he's still a welcome addition.
Chiaki: A bit emotionless-sounding, but I think that's the idea given who she really is. She's got a good pitch going for her, so at least it isn't likely to get dull too quickly.
Fuyuhiko: Derek Stephen Prince has a lot of experience, especially doing voices like this. I'm really hoping he has some decent emotional range on said voice, especially for Chapter 2 and beyond. From what we've heard so far, he sounds pretty much exactly how I'd have imagined Fuyuhiko to sound, so that's good.
Gundham: He definitely sounds like his Japanese VA, who did a great job conveying Gundham's character as someone who presents a super-villain-y impression while wielding a hidden heart of gold. I understand that he's being dubbed by a pretty new VA, and honestly, if he can pull off Gundham, he's going places.
Hajime: The deeper tone of voice mirrors Hajime's raised assertiveness compared to Makoto, which the Japanese versions indicated through speech pattern. Since that won't really work so well in English, the deeper voice fits him well, plus it sounds pretty close to your average teen, which for all intents and purposes, Hajime is. Nothing too bad here.
Hiyoko: I dunno. On one hand, she sounds a lot like her Japanese VA and gets across her illusion of youthful innocence well. On the other hand, her delivery for Hiyoko's more cruel lines has yet to be heard (except for Trailer #2, which sounded okay) and I fear that she may go just a little bit overboard with the cuteness of her delivery, but I know that Kira Buckland has range, so these concerns are mostly unwarranted.
Ibuki: As long as she has enough range for Chapter 3's musical number, I think her VA will do fine. She can certainly deliver Ibuki's lines with the necessary playfulness, that's for sure.
Kazuichi: I know Kyle Hebert's got range, and he'll need it for Kazuichi. Not counting what we can assume to be some of his voice clips in the second trailer, we've really only heard his base voice (trying to act cool rather than panicking or trembling), but it sounds good so far. No problem here.
Mahiru: Sounds firm enough for someone as serious as Mahiru, especially if the trailers are anything to go by. No complaints.
Mikan: Meek? Check. Vulnerable? Check. Insecure? Check. Leaves no doubt that her free time events will make you tear up? Check, check, checker-ooh. I dunno who her VA is, but if she has enough range for Chapter 3 to work, then she was perfectly cast.
Nagito: I wasn't too big on Papenbrook's Makoto. His pitch was okay, but he seemed a bit whisper-y at times where it didn't make sense (that could just be me :P). On the other hand, that may be able to work for Nagito, but we haven't heard any of how he acts after and during Chapter 1's trial, so I'll wait until we hear that before rushing to judgment. Still, Papenbrook voiced Henry in Fire Emblem Awakening, so I could see him pulling something off. Just from what we've heard, he seems to sound pretty friendly, which he should by this point in the game.
THE ULTIMATE TEAM MANAGER, NEKOMARU NIDAI: HE'S VOICED BY PATRICK SEITZ! WHAT MORE NEEDS TO BE SAAAAIIIIIID?!?!?!
Peko: I'd expected something deeper in tone, but I can still see this voice working out. It's somewhat flat, but dignified, which fits her self-perception as a tool perfectly. Also, I'm not sure why, but I get the feeling that when Chapter 2 rolls around, her final lines are gonna be delivered with a precision strike to the feels.
Sonia: Haven't heard much of Natalie Hoover, both as Sonia and in her other roles. Still, she seems to be doing okay as Sonia and talks about this role a lot on Twitter, in a good light no less. I'll stay cautiously optimistic on her.
Teruteru: I have high hopes for this one. Teruteru's the kind of character that needs his VA to have a lot of range and be able to leave an impression early on, which having heard bits of some of his other roles, I think Todd Haberkorn is great for. Todd can pull him off, but he'll really need to go all out for Chapter 1 to have it's full impact.
Usami: Honestly sounds kind of annoying, patronizing and so forth... which is exactly how she sounded in the Japanese version and is how she's supposed to sound; why is everyone complaining about it?

With the cast, I don't have any huge complaints. A lot of them were right on the money, like Komaeda and Koizumi, and others were off a little like Tsumiki and Gundam, but this is also the first impression video, and if it's anything like the first english cast, then it'll only get better from here.
My main issue is the pronunciation of Kuzuryuu and Nanami. But that's not a really big deal in retrospect.
In my opinion, I think they did fine, and I'm expecting great things from this game.
