I'm confused by this episode. The first episode showed any change in the past would immediately have an affect on Ruby. Not having music seems like this would change her and maybe even prevent her from meeting the doctor🤔😲

I hate that because the Tardis keeps that from happening. But then again remember the gravity gag from the second special? I kinda liked it when the Doctor took Ruby back to her time to see the damage Maestro would do. Reminds me of pyramids of mars.

This is Disney. Everyone on the planet knows that they don't care at all about the properties they purchase. Any media they take is used as a sacrifice on the alter of DEI. They can't make stories, they make propaganda and nothing else.

"If you hated this villain, it did exactly what it was supposed to do."
No, that would depend on WHY you hate the villain: If you hate him because he's evil (or something akin), then good; if it because he's ridiculous, annoying idiocy, then it is BAD.

I’m kinda on the fence with this villain. I have a soft spot for campy, scene chewing villains like professor Zaroff or Spaldy, or the Omega. I just hate RTD’s way of writing when it comes to who since RTD writes who like a common serial where the season builds up to a finale and have the finale be about the thing they constantly mentioned.

As a kid I saw reruns of Tom Baker's Doctor, it didn't get me, I thought it looked cheesy as hell and not appealing at all - didn't help it was one of those Timelord episodes with those ridiculous outfits. Not to mention the trash cans.
Along came the 2000s and my ex wanted to give Eccleston a whirl. I wasn't very thrilled but got to like it. I like every Doctor including Capaldi.

We've seen LOTS of entities stronger than the Doctor. Anyone remember the Celestial Toymaker? The Osiran Sutekh from "Pyramids of Mars"? The entity from the pulsar planet "Midnight", which took control of the Doctor's mind?
The Doctor was NEVER supposed to be this all-powerful god being. He was a good-intentioned meddler, who often won by accident and by the skin of his teeth due to a villain's oversight and hubris.

Honestly, I remember when the doctor gave an impassioned speak about walking in a universe where the laws of physics were devised by the mind of a madman, and seeing the birth of creation, and its end, fearlessly facing a god like entity the size of a sun, and did not care. I remember the scary episode in which the doctor eventually faced the equivalent of Satan himself, and did so fearlessly once again, same thing with the weeping angels and the silence. After all of that, I just found it both ridiculous and hilarious that the doctor was supposedly terrified of a RuPaul’s drag show finalist lol.

The Doctor has hardly ever been afraid of an entity. Any previous encounter with the Toymaker, The Master, The Rani, even Omega he wasnt afraid of. Nervous and concerned maybe. But afraid? The only instance i can remember where the doctor might have been fully afraid was in the audio stories where the 8th doctor was trapped in an alternate universe where time did not exist, so the tardis 'died' for a while.

I’ve noticed that actors and producers never seem to pull the whole “Don’t like it, don’t watch it” thing when they actually have faith in what they’re making beyond spreading “The Message™” or whatever.

The biggest problem i had with the villain is that they didn't earn the doctor's fear. They just showed up and the Doctor started to have PTSD. The doctor fought gods, would-be-gods, the master, davros, wheeping angels, but then this entity shows up in reflections and he's saying we can't fight her. This feels like the lazy MCU writing where the dollar story versions of the original cast shows up, one-ups the established heroes, and the veteren heroes have to gas them up just because the writers didn't want to work for it. Its a shame to because you were right, this actor did the role very well for what it was written to be, but they needed to build up Maestro more.

Little note about the no-sound part of the episode, the Doctor likely used his weird ass sonic screwdriver to use some type of noise cancelation, which is a real thing. He has just lived for too long and is apathetic most of the time.
Also he can't just die because he needs to stop many of the universe's evils.
with the old timeline rules where retro-causality applies, he beat them all, but that takes a lot of future adventures to finish.
Is the doctor ever done? Is time finite? Who knows, the potential of the show USED TO BE infinite but nothing is real after Timeless Children and Judy.

The most horrifying aspect of this repugnant villain is that this ostensibly human "thing" can have people in Britain unironically sent to prison for criticizing him. The fact that this gross thing can actually force everyone to not only tolerate him but holds actual legal power over them is repulsive. Society allowed this for far too long.

I don’t think the villain was bad and neither was the story the episode was trying to tell, they just don’t go well together. Why would the Maestro, a personification of music, want to steal/end all music? Isn’t that just suicide? Also why do they want to end all life? Like the maestro comes as manic and somewhat jovial but at the same time they don’t want anyone to experience music. I think they forgot what made the toymaker so dangerous was the fact that everything was a game to him and he had to win.

I say the biggest issue with this new era of Doctor Who is.
    1. They really shouldn't have had Russell t Davis write 5 episodes in a row it really shows his entire writing spectrum.
    2. Someone needs to slap Russell and tell him to focus on making Good episodes so they don't get cancelled!
I honestly love doctor who I've been watching it since 2005 and it's painful to see it spiral into just whatever the heck is happening.
